4 July 2018
Dear Parents
The time is fast approaching and we are now only 3 weeks away from Cultural Day 2018.
The Cultural Festival kicks off with the Final Countdown Concert on Thursday 26 July 2018 in the
St Alban's Auditorium. The Theme for this year’s Festival will be announced to the boys at a
special Assembly earlier that day. Friday 27 July – Wednesday 1 August will exclusively be
dedicated to preparations, rehearsals and performances for the respective Inter-house
Competitions and will also include a number of external professional productions for your sons.
The Festival will conclude with the highly-anticipated Cultural Day on Thursday 2 August.
You would have received information on the Communicator, College Facebook Page and
from Housemasters regarding the All Shook Up Musical Production, which forms part of the
Cultural Festival 2018, and is being staged at the Rockwood Theatre on Friday 27 July 2018.
This event is a new addition and the purpose for its inclusion this year is twofold.
First and foremost, we would like this event to serve as a special welcome to parents and
friends of the College to the Cultural Festival, as well as create a sense of community and build
up excitement as we approach Cultural Day.
Secondly, the funds raised from the ticket sales will be used to help cover the costs of the five
Professional Productions, which your sons will see during Cultural week and Cultural Day. Well-
known South African actors and musicians involved in these productions include the likes of
John van der Riet (Actor and Author of the Spud Book Series), Ben Voss (Actor), Aaron McCilroy
(Comedian, Actor & Star of Spud), Lisa Bobbert (Comedian, Singer and Actress), Richard
Brokensha and Alex Parker (Old Boys and Musicians from the South African Band ISO), to name
but a few.
The campus will be buzzing with activities during Cultural Festival 2018 and we are so looking
forward to this special event in our school calendar. I would like to takes this opportunity to
thank you for your continuous support of your sons and the College, which really strives to give
them a holistic education and prepare them for life.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Rockwood Theatre Production,
Cultural Week and our Cultural Day. May the festivities begin.
Yours sincerely
