SANParks Honorary Rangers K9 Project

12 to 16 April 2018

Dear Parents

We are excited to present an opportunity for our student bush and animal lovers to work at the
SANParks K9 Unit in the Kruger National Park for 5 days. The K9 unit is one of the backbones of the
anti-poaching initiatives in the park. Gate dogs, sniffer dogs and attack dogs are present at the
unit and come and go as they are needed. The experience will include feeding the dogs, cleaning
kennels and runs, general maintenance at the unit and definitely some TLC for the dogs!

This is a wonderful opportunity for boys to learn more about what SANParks is doing to fight
poaching and be part of the solution by contributing work hours to help relieve pressure on the
rangers. This is an excellent residential project for those boys wishing to complete their Gold Level
of the President’s Award.

The full cost is R 3 600 per person which includes transport, conservation fees, all meals and drinks.
Boys will be camping at the centre and will be expected to help prepare meals. There are clean,
neat ablutions available and a well-equipped kitchen. Please make contact with Mr Turton or Mrs
de Kock to book a spot as soon as possible. Thereafter a deposit of R 1800 should be made by 9
February 2018, directly into the College bank account using the reference AdvenK9/Surname. The
closing date for the outstanding balance is Friday 9 March 2018.

A list of requirements, further details and indemnity forms will be sent out at the end of March.

For more information, or if you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs. de Kock or
Mr. Turton at the enclosed email addresses.

Yours sincerely

Mel de Kock Des Turton
