Student Organizations
ROC/CTEC Ambassadors
ROC/CTEC boasts Student Ambassadors, rather than having an Associated Student Body (ASB) organization,
both an AM and PM-Ambassador represent each program and they in turn become the public face of
ROC/CTEC at community events as well as the school's student leadership council. The Ambassadors meet
monthly focusing on developing leadership skills such as communication, professionalism and teamwork.
These skills are enriched through leadership conferences, ROC/CTEC events and community service.
Student Organizations
CTSOs Career and Service Organizations
Career Tech Student Organizations (CTSO) are designed to enhance career and technical education programs
by providing career and leadership development through peer interactions, adult mentoring, contests and
competitions based on knowledge and skills learned in the classroom. Students have the opportunity to
travel to conferences and competitions. CTSOs are not clubs; they are co-curricular organizations through
which classroom instruction tied directly to CTSO activities. The CTSO’s participate in community service,
such as blood drives, feeding the needy and support children’s events.
Jr. High Summer Camp
Each summer the ROC/CTEC o ers week long summer camps for Jr. High students. Students attending the
camp get the opportunity to explore a variety of career paths through fun hands on activities.
Events and Activities
Skills Olympics
Students demonstrate the technical skills mastered throughout the school year with an intra program
competition. The event is complete with Opening Ceremonies and Awards. Community industry partners
volunteer their time as judges.
SKILLS OLYMPICS
Program Showcase and Tours
We annually welcome students and counselors from all KHSD sites to come and explore our programs.
Current students share an overview of what career and technical education is. This provides students with
an interactive opportunity to learn about the various programs and opportunities before registering for
classes.
Fun Friday
Twice a Year the students of ROC and CTEC take an extended school-wide break. This gives them the oppor-
tunity to build camaraderie with those in other programs and have fun! The event includes gigantic bounce
houses for sports and fun, dunking booths, music for dancing and food. Clubs have an opportunity for fund-
raising.
Events and Activities
Interview Day
Interview Day is a capstone event. It is an opportunity for a professional one-on-one mock interview to prac-
tice employment skills. Students bring a professional resume and dress for an interview within their industry
training area. Business professionals from all over Bakers eld serve as interviewers for this event.
Exploration Day
Annually we invite elementary students to explore career education in an exciting and fun way. Students learn
about a variety of occupation taught at ROC and CTEC while giving our students an opportunity to display their
skills working with young children and serving the community.
