PRESIDENT’S CORNER
Greetings Sorors,
This is our last Delta Docket for the 2015-2016 chapter year. We started the year off with a bang at our
Chapter Retreat followed by the First Annual Eastern Wake Community Day in Wendell and ended with the
successful Crowns @ High Noon Tea. This final issue of the year is to celebrate and highlight the accom-
plishments of our chapter sorors. We SALUTE you!
THANK YOU to the great committee chairs that put in the hard work and dedicated hours to make all of
our five-point thrust programs successful.
THANK YOU to the chapter sorors who realize our fundraisers benefit our scholarship programs. Thanks
to you, we are giving out approximately $8000 in scholarships to deserving students in our service areas.
THANK YOU for focusing more on the “us” and less on the “me”. TEAM work will continue to make our
DREAM work!
THANK YOU for investing your time in continuing the legacy of making KWF Alumnae the best chapter in
the state. Watch world, here we come!
THANK YOU for giving me the space to grow in leadership. I made some mistakes along the way and grew
as a result. As our elders say “When you know better, you do better”. Thanks for the reminding me to take
care of my health through your encouraging and stern words. I am thankful that our chapter is truly loving
and supportive.
Stay tuned and alert over the summer for the new projects we have planned for 2016-2017 chapter year.
There will be an activity specifically designed just for you to assist our very diverse and growing chapter.
The best is yet to COME!
James 2:26 KJV For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Sisterly love,
JuJuan C. Mitchell
VICE PRESIDENT’S mESSAGE
Countdown! Five, four, three, two, one....summer break is here! The school bell rings and the children
scamper to their various summer activities. The final gavel strikes for Sorors to close the business of the
2015-2016 sorority year. Knightdale-Wake Forest Alumnae Chapter completes the sorority year with some
awe-inspiring community service activities. The second half of the sorority year continued with our Youth
Initiative meetings and activities. In addition, the highlighted major events are as follows:
Physical and Mental Health Fair
Jabberwock 2016
5th Annual Crowns at High Noon Season of Life Tea
May Week
Scholarship and Awards Ceremony
End of the Year Cookout
2016 South Atlantic Regional Conference in Virginia Beach, VA
Whether you attended none, one, some or all of the chapter's phenomenal events, we thank you for all
that YOU, my Soror, do for the success of our chapter. This is not the end! Knightdale-Wake Alumnae Chap-
ter is growing into a seasoned experienced chapter with many astronomical members with unlimited ideas.
Let's continue this positive momentum in our chapter by presenting your award winning community service
ideas. As the quote "The roots of education is bitter, but the fruit is sweet" by Aristotle indicates, it's hard
to reach the ultimate goal but in the end we as a chapter reap hefty rewards.
Yours In Delta,
Soror Cynthia Daniel-Williams

Divine 9 NC Legislative Day
“Focused on the Future a Call to ACTION”
May 18, 2016
Knightdale-Wake Forest Sorors Kana Cutchin, Tonya Koonce –Daniels, and Martita Williams attended the first NC Divine 9 Legisla-
tive Day. Representatives were present from all of the Divine 9 organizations: Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha
Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho, and Iota Phi Theta. Historically Black
Colleges and Universities and the upcoming November Election were the topics for the Legislative Day. Details of the day’s events
are below.
Open Session – Executive Branch & Breakfast
Members of the Divine 9 attended a breakfast at the Governor’s Mansion where they were hosted by NC Governor Pat McCory.
2nd Plenary Session Legislative Briefings
After prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and recognition of members of the Divine 9, Senator Apodaca spoke about Senate Bill 873,
Access to Affordable College Ed. Act, which would lower in-state tuition at five stat universities, including three HBCUs to $500 a
semester and $2500 a semester for out of state students. The bill would also create Cheatham-White Scholarships for North Car-
olina Agricultural and Technical State University and North Carolina Central University.
3rd Plenary Session – The Plight of HBCU in North Carolina
Soror Andrea Harris from the “The Institute” and Frater Johnny C. Taylor (Kappa Alpha Psi) from the Thurgood Marshall College
Fund spoke about the plight of the HBCU. Frater Taylor explained that the following 3 criteria must be met in order to be consid-
ered an HBCU:
1. The institution must be founded before 1964
2. The institution’s primary mission must be to educate African Americans
3 The institution must be accredited
He also stated that the following are the top 3 issues facing HBCUs:
1. Their Brand – Overtime HBCUs have developed a reputation of being a last resort for individuals who could not get into
other universities. As a result, students who graduate from these institution often have a hard time finding a job after
graduation.
2. Their legislative agenda is not in order – Over the last 8 years the Department of Education has reduced federal funding to
HBCU drastically. And, state governments have followed suit. We as a community need to learn to fight unapologetically
for our HBCU.
3. Their Alumni do not give back – Frater Everett Ward (Alpha Phi Alpha), President of St. Augustine’s College stated that only
5% of alumni give back to the university. It is hard to solicit funds from outside with such a low alumni donation rate.
At the conclusion of the plenary, Attorney General and NC Democratic Nominee for Governor Roy Cooper addressed the audience
and thanked the Divine 9 for our efforts in the community as well as expressed his desire to work with the organizations as NC
governor to continue to strengthen the community. NC Democratic nominee for Lt. Governor Soror Linda Coleman also ad-
dressed the audience. She expressed her gratitude for being elected as the Democratic Lt. Governor nominee and called members
of the Divine 9 to action to live up to our legacy and return our state to a strong state through improving education, strengthen-
ing families and helping others.
The audience was also greeted by legislators which included by Rep. Larry Hall, Sen. Gladys Robinson (Delta Sigma Theta), Rep.
Robert Reid, Sen. Joyce Waddell (Alpha Kappa Alpha), Rep. Rodney Moore, and Sen. Erica Smith-Ingram (Delta Sigma Theta). Soror
Ingram reminded the Divine that we are all products of the two institutions, the black college and the black church. And, that in
church we learned that Jesus told the disciples to do two things. The first was to watch and pray. And the second was to cast right.
She told the Divine 9 that went it is time to vote in the November elections “we better cast right!”
NC Divine 9 Legislative Day Luncheon
The luncheon was held in First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Frater Carl Pickney (Alpha Phi Alpha) presided over the luncheon.
The Call to order was given by Frater Marcus Bass (Alpha Phi Alpha). The Welcome was given by Sister Rachel Morris (Sigma Gam-
ma Rho). And, the purpose was given by the South Atlantic Regional Director of Delta Sigma Theta, Soror Andria Jefferies. The
following North Carolina Candidates addressed the audience during the luncheon:
Michael Morgan (Omega Psi Phi) - Candidate for NC Supreme Court
Vince Rozier (Kappa Alpha Psi) - Candidate for NC Court of Appeals
Abe Jones (Alpha Phi Alpha) - Candidate for NC Court of Appeals
Rickye McCoy-Mitchell (Delta Sigma Theta) - Candidate for NC Court of Appeals
Dan Blue III (Alpha Phi Alpha) – Democratic Candidate for NC State Treasurer
Linda Coleman (Delta Sigma Theta) – Democratic Candidate for NC Lt. Governor
Roy Cooper – Democratic candidate for NC Governor
The luncheon wrapped up with an update on voter regulations by Dr. Lee Cooley, a Voter Outreach Specialist for the NC Board of
Elections. Dr. Cooley stated that the key to get people to participate in the upcoming June 7th primaries is the Absentee Ballot.
She instructed the audience to request or download and absentee ballot, make copies of the request, and go to various communi-
ty locations(church, senior facilities, community centers, etc.) to get community members to complete the request. Once com-
pleted, the request can be delivered to the Board of Election. Each person will get a ballot delivered to them at their house. The
completed ballots can be collected and delivered to the Board of elections. Dr. Cooley also distributed information regarding the
new voter ID law.
Sorors, I am so proud to have represented our illustrious Sorority and courageous Chapter at this inaugural event.
Yours in Delta,
Kana Cutchin

CROWNS AT HIGH NOON TEA
Economic Development Committee Presents:
STATE FARM INSURANCE TIPS:
1. Do a thorough annual review of your insurance policies with your Agent to make sure you have the right cover-
age’s needed and have enough coverage’s.
2. Get clear understanding of your coverage’s and deductibles
3. Make sure you have all the discounts and savings like accident free discounts, good driving discounts, low mile-
age discounts, etc….
4. Make sure all licensed drivers in the household are listed on your policy
5. Drive safely and try not to get any speeding tickets or get into an accident……they stay on your record for 3
years and will cause your premium to increase
6. Type of Car Generally, the more expensive the car, the more you pay for car insurance.
7. Location Because of the higher frequency of issues like theft, accidents, and vandalism, urban drivers may pay
more than those in rural areas.
8. How Much the Car is Driven People who drive a lot for work or commute a long distance usually pay more than
those who drive less.
9. Age, Sex, and Marital Status Accident rates are generally higher for drivers under 25, especially men, which of-
ten means higher insurance prices.
10. Married drivers may pay less. Driving Record Drivers with poor driving records usually pay more for coverage
than people who have been accident-free for several years.
11. Coverage’s Insurance policies consist of a variety of coverage’s. Generally, the more coverage you buy, the high-
er the cost.
12. Credit History Certain credit information has been shown to be a very effective predictor of future insurance
claims. In most states, credit information is one factor used to determine the cost of your car. Maintaining good
credit may save you money on your car insurance.
13. Deductible A deductible is the part of a loss that you've agreed to pay with your own money. Generally, the high-
er the deductible, the lower your premium.
14. How Can I Save Money? There are several things you can do to try saving money on car insurance: Buy a
cheaper car. Generally, the more expensive the car, the more expensive it is to insure.
15. Do your safety research. Insurers often increase premiums for cars that are a greater risk for damage or occu-
pant injury.
16. Ask about discount. Typical discounts include those for good students, insuring multiple vehicles, accident-free
driving, and more.
17. Drive less. Consider joining a car pool, or take alternate transportation when possible. Mileage reduction may
help lower your premiums. Drive carefully. Insurers love a clean driving record.
18. Consider Multi-line. Many insurers will offer discounts if you use them for multiple coverage’s.
19. Note: Car insurance premiums are determined based on state-approved rating factors.
-backed security (MBS) pools and whole loan commitments
20. What are Home Ready’s lender benefits?
a. Home Ready helps lenders confidently serve today’s market of creditworthy, low- to moderate-income
borrowers, with expanded eligibility for financing homes in designated low-income, minority, and disaster-
impacted communities. Home Ready is competitive with other products in the market (depending on loan
-to-value [LTV] ratio and credit score) by providing improved pricing – better than or equal to Fannie Mae
standard loan pricing – and competitive borrower payments. Home Ready also features simplified execu-
tion, providing lenders with the ability to commingle standard and Home Ready loans into mortgage-
backed security (MBS) pools and whole loan commitments
21. What are Home Ready’s borrower benefits?
a. Home Ready serves low- to moderate-income borrowers, with expanded eligibility for financing homes in
designated low-income, minority, and disaster-impacted communities. Home Ready provides financing
with a sustainable and competitive monthly payment due to:
• Pricing that is better than or equal to standard loan pricing.
• Lower than standard MI coverage requirements for loans with LTVs greater than 90 percent
up to 97 percent.
• Cancellable monthly MI payments (per Servicing Guide policy; generally upon borrower re-
quest when the loan balance drops below 80 percent LTV, or automatically when it drops be-
low 78 percent).
b. Gifts, grants, and Community Seconds® can be used as a source of funds for down payment and clos-
ing costs, with no minimum contribution required from the borrower’s own funds (1-unit properties). Any
eligible loan may have more than one Community Seconds (i.e., third lien) up to the maximum 105 per-
cent CLTV (see Community Seconds fact sheet). Cash-on-hand can also be used for down payment and
closing costs (1-unit properties).
22. May borrowers have an ownership interest in other residential property at the time of loan closing?
a. No, the occupant borrower(s) may not have an ownership interest in any other residential property at the
time of loan closing.
b. The restriction on ownership of other residential property does not apply to any non-occupant borrower
