The 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 Executive Boards prepared for our administrative change with our -Sadie Tanner
formal transition meeting on June 1st . Each member worked with the outgoing/incoming officer for Mossell
a best laid plan of action for a smooth transition. The new Executive Committee and the Big 5
Committee chairs ended the month of June with a bonding brunch experience where we looked at Alexander
our future goals and objectives for the chapter.

July 1 was the official start for the new year! What better way to kick off the first month than with our
54th National Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Although the convention was shortened due to
inclement weather, the brief stent saw a major contribution to the city of New Orleans. Delta Sigma
Theta Sorority, Incorporated donated 17,000 meals to residents of the city. We also conducted some
business-voted for our NEW National leadership and voted on a few Constitutional and Bylaws
updates. Stay tuned! Plans are underway for all the other business meetings through future webinars.

Following in the footsteps of our National leadership, KWF also started with some impressive
community service activities and contributions. On August 7, 2019 at the Summer Nutrition Program
3.0, we feed over 150 family members in the town of Wake Forest. On August 17, 2019, KWF’s 5th
Annual Northeast Wake Community Day: Back to School Celebration donated 200+ backpacks filled
with school supplies at Wakelon Elementary School in the town of Zebulon. At the 10th Annual
African American Cultural Festival during Labor Day weekend, we volunteered for the cultural
enrichment of our communities.

This names a few of the calls to action we have answered since the start of the sorority year. If you
missed these activities, there will be other opportunities for your participation, attendance and
contribution. Knightdale-Wake Forest Alumnae Chapter is dedicated to sisterhood, scholarship and
service in our rural yet booming area in Wake County. Stand up! Stand strong! Help YOUR chapter
deliver the excellent programming needed for its success. Know that the KWF leadership team is here
to assist and direct. Let’s make the 2019-2020 sorority year another AMAZING year.

Yours In Delta!

VICE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE I am, was and
always will be
by Soror Vice President Tiffanie Meyers a catalyst for

Greetings Sorors! change.
When I was elected to be your Vice President last April, I was both excited and
nervous at the same time! Excited about the new adventures that would await us -Shirley
and nervous because I didn’t want to let you down. First, I would like to say, thank Chisholm
you! Thank you for entrusting me with this awesome task and thank you in advance
for your continued support of me in this new role.

As your Vice President, I promise to ALWAYS be honest, to ALWAYS be respectful
(even when we disagree), to ALWAYS be kind, to ALWAYS do my absolute best,
and to ALWAYS be me! Because I expect excellence of myself, I will expect no less
from you. I am a true believer in our sisterhood. I am a true advocate of
strengthening our bond. These are not mere words; they are actions that we must
show each and every day.

True sisterhood isn’t shown simply because we smile and get along. The bond is not
strengthened because everyone sees us hug and smile when we greet one another.
Sisterhood is the genuine love that we have in our hearts for one another. The
feeling you have when you “lean on the shield” and your Soror/Sister comes to
your aid. Actions that diminish our sisterhood and bond come from the subtle (not
so subtle) looks that we give when some Sorors speak, or the conversations that we
have behind one another’s backs demeaning another Soror, or other negative antics
that we show that make others feel unwelcome, unwanted and simply put,
ostracized.

Sorors, conflict is to be expected. How the conflict is handled will determine our
strengths, but it can also put a spotlight on our weaknesses. I challenge each of you
as we move forward in the Sorority year to never shy away from the conflict,
bravely face it, respectfully discuss it with those involved, intently listen to the other
side without judgment, come away with a resolution and move past it.

We are all superheroes who possess special and unique superpowers! The
superpower to uplift, embrace, support and love. Use your superpowers for good!

I look forward to working together with each of you to ensure that Knightdale-
Wake Forest Alumnae Chapter continues to strengthen the bond of sisterhood!

Delta Love Always!
