One of the most important lessons I have learned here is to surround yourself with good people and try to laugh when times get hard. Therefore, for my senior project, I wanted to direct something that was more lighthearted and funny. Once I came across, Chocolate Chip Fridays by David Lee White, I thought this would be an amusing one-act to direct. This one-act deals with the idea that even when you meet someone on the wrong foot, you should try to give them a chance because you never know their full story. My cast and crew have made this a lovely and funny production, so please enjoy and laugh at Chocolate Chip Fridays! I would like to thank all of the theater department for being a space where I can creatively express myself! Also, special thanks to Profe Gutiérrez for being one of the main reasons I declared a theater major. Special thanks to Jeff for teaching me and helping me shape the production. I would also love to thank all of the people who came to support me and this funny little one act. Lastly, gracias a mi familia porque sé que no entienden lo que hago pero me apoyan con todo el corazón. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
BINDERS 5 A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR Binders is the culmination of my work here at SCU. It brings together all of the tools that I have learned from the department and my professional career. When looking for a one act I wanted to find a mixture of humor and drama. It was a fun challenge to tackle the absurdity of this one act and its themes. Through its absurdity it highlights the way that we cope with climate change and its effects on our society. This was a challenging and rewarding experience for my entire cast and crew as it made us all take a new approach to the creative process. This experience has been an amazing culmination of my work here at SCU. The collaborations between all the students and faculty that I have made over the last three years have helped to bring together Binders. I would like to thank Jeff for the support through this process and my time here at SCU. I would also like to thank Shreyansh Panda and Jean Lau for their creativity that helped to bring together this piece. Finally I would like to thank my amazing cast for really bringing to life these wonderfully weird characters.
