North Texas League Planning Retreat

September 9-10, 2016

Flowing Wells Resort

Pottsboro, Texas 75076
Refreshing ….. Relaxing ….. Revitalizing …. Restorative? YES INDEED!

Pathfinder Editor and Club Sister Geneva Hamilton asked me to write about the North Texas League Plan-
ning Meeting Retreat … so here goes. This was actually my first "planning retreat" as a member of the NTL and in
my opinion; this was the "best dang" planning meeting retreat I have ever attended.

Let's start with FRIDAY night. Friday night was the time to fellowship, get to know one another, eat and
just have a fun night. Everyone let their hair down. We had a catfish dinner with all the trimmings followed by
karaoke and dancing, wine glass painting and bid whist. President Traylor took a moment to welcome everyone
and go over an informal agenda.

SATURDAY morning we hit the floor running, starting with a very large breakfast, more fellowship and
preparation for a full day. We discussed the 2016-17 calendar year and upcoming programs as well as committee
goals. President Traylor and 1st VP Dr. Jeanine Thomas focused on The North Texas League commitments and
aspirations for a successful new year. Past President Marilyn Calhoun workshop on leadership and self-awareness
was both informative and educational. The interactive sessions led by 1st VP Dr. Jeanine Thomas involved partici-
pation from all club sisters.

Refreshing ….. Relaxing ….. Revitalizing …. Restorative? YES INDEED!

SATURDAY night after the planning PHOTOS FROM THE TREAT
meeting was over; we headed to Choctaw Ca-
sino in Durant, OK. where the fun and laughs
continued into the late evening.

SUNDAY morning we woke up, had
another bountiful breakfast and decided to enjoy
it out on the patio overlooking a very scenic
lake-front view. After breakfast we cleaned up
the lodge, packed up our luggage and headed
back to reality.

This Planning Meeting Retreat was
great because it was extremely well planned.
The feedback from all attending was pretty
much the same when describing the event ... "It
was Awesome!".

At the end of the day, President Traylor
and 1st VP Dr. Jeanine Thomas' vision for the
North Texas League Retreat came to fruition.
It left us feeling all of the adjectives above, and
a few more for good measure ... It also left us
feeling rejuvenated and refocused on the
League’s Mission for a continued presence in
the community and a more focused Vision on
community service.
