A couple of words to cheer u up :) MOTIVATION AFTER MIDTERM TEST

TThhee HHiissttoorryy OOff WWoommeenn ''ss DDaayy Then in 1910 a second International Conference of Working Women was held in Copenhagen. A woman named Clara Zetkin (Leader of the 'Women's Office' for the Social Democratic Party in Germany) tabled the idea of an International Women's Day. She proposed that every year in every country there should be a celebration on the same day – a Women's Day – to press for their demands. The conference of over 100 women from 17 countries, representing unions, socialist parties, working women's clubs - and including the first three women elected to the Finnish parliament - greeted Zetkin's suggestion with unanimous approval and thus International Women's Day was the result. It began in New York City on March 8, 1857, when female textile workers marched in protest of unfair working conditions and unequal rights for women. It was one of the first organized strikes by working women, during which they called for a shorter work day and decent wages. International Women's Day is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women's rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality Also on March 8, in 1908, women workers in the needle trades marched through New York City ' s Lower East Side to protest child labor, sweatshop working conditions, and demand women ' s suffrage.

For many years, women worldwide have accomplished many things that have significantly impacted the world. Though sometimes, those women are under-credited for their contributions to influencing people and things around the world. Thus, in celebration of International Women's Day, we have compiled a list of influential women that have made a significant impact on the world and highlighted their talents and accomplishments. First off, we have Emma Watson, who is known for starring as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series. However, Watson has done far more than fend off evil wizards in Harry Potter. The British actress, model, and women's rights activist is a UN Women Goodwill ambassador and has an influential footprint within the sustainable fashion industry. She is also a firm supporter of the #MeToo movement. Next on the list, we have Malala Yousafzai. Malala is a courageous human rights activist and proponent of female education. She was shot in the head in Pakistan in 2012, when she was 15, after being targeted by the Taliban for speaking out on education for young women, but lived to tell her heroic story. She received the Nobel Peace Prize by age 17, making her the youngest recipient to date. Many people know Coco Chanel for creating such now-classic innovations such as the woman's suit, the quilted purse, costume jewelry, and the “little black dress" or LBD, as well as introducing the phenomenally successful perfume Chanel No. Her personal life was complicated, her design credo simple and elegant: "Fashion fades; only style remains the same," she said. Last but not least on the list we have Beyoncé. Throughout her career, Beyoncé has embodied fierce femininity at its finest. Beyoncé first achieved fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of the R&B group Destiny's Child and soon launched a hugely successful solo career. Her hit solo albums included Dangerously in Love (2003), B'Day (2006), I Am…Sasha Fierce (2008), 4 (2011), Beyoncé (2013), Lemonade (2016), and Renaissance (2022). Since then, she has sold over 200 million records, won 32 Grammy Awards, and consistently contributes to a wide range of philanthropies using her superstar image to bolster support to create a better world. (From left to right: Emma Watson, Malala Yousafzai, Coco Chanel, Beyoncé.) Some made music, some made noise, all made a difference. Here we celebrate 4 incredible women who overcame hardships, broke records, and blazed trails.
