HOME ALONE

REVIEW SUBMITTED BY

"Home Alone", this is a great movie, where the main character, Kevin, played by McCauley
Culken gets left behind by his family, as they go away to Paris for Christmas Holidays.
Kevin, has to defend his home from 2 burglars, generally bad guys. He comes up with
genius ideas to get these bad guys and eventually wins.
Kevin orders pizza and jumps on beds, when he first realizes he's all by himself.
Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern are the perfect comedy duo of two idiots who can't rob the
place, because an 8 year old Kevin, has out witted them. Kevin sets up some clever and
very funny traps around the house to nail these guys.
If this had been a reality movie, the parents would be charged with child abandonment.

Home Alone is a classic movie to watch with the family during the holiday season or year
round. The story line is comical, enhanced with a extra dose of drama, when the mother
of a young boy hastily leaves with her large family to fly out of town for the holiday
season. She suddenly realizes she left her youngest, somewhat whimsical son, Kevin, at
home left to his own devices. Anyone who has had a multitude of chaos and people
during a crazy holiday season with 1,000 things to do and remember can probably relate
to at least one aspect, if not many portrayed in this fun film. The main character, Macauley
Culkin, who is the child actor that gets left home alone (hence the title) really owns his
character's role to provide the audience with horror and laughter simultaneously. I would
definately recommend this crazy, adventurous, fun, and light-hearted film

Home Alone is a un-Christmas like movie that has turned into a must watch Christmastime movie for most
families, it stars McCauley Caukin as Kevin, a unlikely hero, who is mistakenly left home alone by his forgetful
parents, who along with their other 10 children are off to Paris for Christmas, After Kevin is left alone, danger
is on the horizon as two thieves played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern are robbing the neighbour houses with
Kevin's next on theri list.
What ensues is a battle between the robbers and Kevin for possession of the house's contents, and Kevin
resorts to all kinds of traps and pranks to stop the robbers, There are many laughs , and some tears in the
movie, and is suitable for most kids and adults. Would recommend especially during the holiday season.

"HOME ALONE at Christmas time, is every child’s

HOLIDAY TRADITIONS

by Stevie Lynn

This is my favorite time of year! I love
the lights, the cold fresh air, and even
more, the traditions.

Each and every year I head to New
York City with my sisters, to enjoy the
holiday season. If any of you have been
to NYC during the holidays, you know
it's absolutely magical. The tree. The
stores all decorated. It's perfection.

I haven't made it out to the city yet, so
I'm sharing with you some of my
photos from my previous trip. I see
the Rockefeller Center tree every year
and each time it continues to take my
breath away.

After seeing the tree we usually hit up a restaurant and a show.
The last time we were in the city, as you can see from my photos below, myself
and my sister saw Annie. As flash photography is not allowed in the theater, I
took a quick photo of the opening set design before it went live.
The man we're posing with, Ron Raines, played Daddy Warbucks in the
production. He's a friend of the family and took us back stage after the show. It
was awesome! I am lucky enough to say that I can consider going back stage with
Ron as part of a "tradition" since he has taken me behind the scenes in a couple
different productions he's been in.

Once the show ended and the tour was
finished we went to a cute restaurant around
the corner (do you see the fun umbrella
drinks).
Looking forward to this year’s NYC
adventure!
Do you have any holiday traditions with your
friends or family? Share them in the
community! I'd love to read about them.

PINEAPPLE STUFFING

Submitted By: P D N R

Ingredients:

5 slices of white bread, cubed
(I used 100% whole grain
bread rather than white
bread)

1 stick of butter or margarine,
melted

1 cup of sugar, or less if you
like (I used 2/3 cup sugar)
2 eggs
1 tbs. flour
large can of crushed
pineapple, do not drain

Directions:

Combine bread and melted butter. Add in remaining ingredients. Pour
into a greased casserole dish and bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Inserted knife should come out clean. A doubled recipe fills a 9 x 13
casserole dish nicely (but bake for an hour).

Holiday Budget:

Tips & Tricks!

It's difficult to stick to a budget, especially around the holidays! Let's see what
the Toluna Community says is their best tips and tricks for sticking to a budget!

TIP 1: Start shopping early

RueReally: "I am a shopper who looks for the best price. I have to living on the
tight shoestring budget we are on if we want just the necessities. I
start shopping way ahead of time and keep receipts."

TIP 2: Make a physical list

Dawnvys: "I actually keep a paper and pen list of the gifts per person that I
have spent until I reach my goal"

TIP 3: Budget by age

Jimbo580: "I use this easy single method. Kids under 12-$100
Kids 12 to 18 around $50 and if a family member is over 18 you're
going to get around $25. The older you get the less you get! No
exceptions"
