Feb. Movie Club
In honor of Valentine's Day this month, we selected
various movies, you voted and this movie,
The notebook, is the February Movie Pick.

"The Notebook is a classic love story for our generation. Noah takes the viewer on a
journey back in time as he recounts the history of his epic romance.
Set in 1940's America, viewers are entertained with beautiful scenery, sets, costumes,
and music from days gone by. Throughout the movie, viewers are reminded that
genteel southern aristocracy is not nearly as beautiful as we would like to think.
Never the less, viewers will fall in love with the passion and innocence of Noah's love
for Allie. It's a timeless romance that almost any couple can relate to, no
matter what phase of life they are in. It's a must see romantic movie for all."

The Notebook

"I went into this movie with the misconception of
thinking this was just another typical romantic
movie, but I was very impressed by this film and
the themes portrayed in this movie were handled
in a great way. This movie will have you feeling
happy and joyful and the scenery is just brilliant.
You will feel like you are part of the characters, and
you will care about them throughout the whole
movie. Ryan Gosling is brilliant as the shy and quiet
Noah, and Rachael McAdams is superbly beautiful
as the star of the movie, Allie.
The best thing about this movie was the depth of
the plot and the actors playing their characters so
well. Another plus about this movie was the great
script, and you did not see too many "clichés"
which is always a good sign in a romance movie. It
does not matter whether you love romantic movies
or hate them, this is NOT just a romantic movie it is
so more than that. By the end of the movie, you
will feel a whole heap of emotions. Even most
males will agree that this movie pulls at your heart
strings. Filled with fabulous quotes and sentimental
moments, I found this movie to be one of the best
I've seen. Most of us remember our first love and
that strong connection we had with them.
This movie makes us think of what could have been
and gives us a fresh look at the meaning of true
love. I recommend this movie to anyone with a
heart."

The notebook

"The Notebook is a tale classic as time about two lovers from different worlds. The girl is
from a rich family while the guy is from a working family. Naturally, they share an intense
connection, which is forbidden by the girl's parents.
I like how the movie shows the way the couple interact and how they get along. They share
similarities despite coming from different backgrounds. They have hopes and dreams, even
when it wasn’t possible for the guy to realize his dreams. The movie makes you think about
what makes a person, whether it be nature or nurture. You question if we are destined to
live the same lives our parents did, or do we create our own fate? The movie shifts between
the past and the present, but you initially think the story about the couple is just a story. You
wonder why the story of the couple is so important and significant to the storyteller. As an
audience member you may also wonder how the story of the romantic couple could possibly
be relevant to you. Throughout the movie, the characters must make choices that could affect
their entire future and happiness. The movie reflects the expectations of life. It explores the
different pathways people take in love, marriage, money, career, and retirement. These are
decisions that drive our every motivation and action in life in the pursuit of happiness. The
movie is based on a true story. The setting takes place in the 1940's, a time where I am sure
the choice between love and wealth was much more significant than today, but you may
find yourself in a similar situation. The themes of the film are more relevant than you think
and that is why it is such a good and classic film."

"From the beginning the actors just clicked! You could feel the on screen chemistry and
the story line had me nail biting as the characters sparred, kissed, and finally had the
happy ever after moment. Sadly moments are fleeting. I especially love the part where
her mother finally unbent enough to drive her by the mill and explain, why she is the
way she is and showed her daughter the man she truly loved from her youth. I loved
that they paid close attention to detail in costumes and scenery and history that took
place in the background as the story unfolded. It helped to know why she seemed so
passive in falling into line with her parents wishes. I love James Garner and his portrayal
of the older character so willing to stay with his wife no matter what was heartbreaking!
I bought this movie and will re-watch it every Valentine’s Day as it is truly an epic love
story thru time."

"This movie is a classic love story. It has absolutely everything you could ask for in a
traditional and modern day love story. The young star crossed lovers, the tumultuous love
triangle and the time tested boy loves and waits on girl. The movie is a love story but it
shows so much depth as far as the characters. You fall in love with them and feel as if
you are a part of the story. You feel each of their emotions and I have yet to meet
ANYONE who hasn't shed tears while watching it. The cast done a phenomenal job. The
story has a lot of emotion and the actors show all of it so well. They are all memorable
characters that you fall in love with. I'm not much for a romance movie but this is one
that everyone can enjoy. I definitely recommend it."
