Onion inspired,  Moscow Red Square
architectural
beauty

It is not completely clear when and why onion
domes became a typical feature of Russian
architecture. Byzantine churches and the
architecture of Kievan Rus were characterized by
broader, flatter domes without a special
framework erected above the drum. In contrast
to this ancient form, each drum of a Russian
church is surmounted by a special structure of
metal or timber, which is lined with sheet iron or
tiles.

By the end of the nineteenth century, most
Russian churches from before the Petrine period
had bulbous domes. The largest onion domes
were erected in the seventeenth century in the
area around Yaroslavl, incidentally famous for its
large onions. Quite a few had more complicated
bud-shaped domes, whose form derived from
Baroque models of the late seventeenth century.
Pear-shaped domes are usually associated with
Ukrainian Baroque, while cone-shaped domes are
typical for Orthodox churches of Transcaucasia.

Prior to the eighteenth century, the Russian
Orthodox Church did not assign any particular
symbolism to the exterior shape of a church.
Nevertheless, onion domes are popularly believed
to symbolize burning candles. In 1917, noted
religious philosopher Prince Yevgeny Trubetskoy
argued that the onion shape of Russian church
domes may not be explained rationally. According
to Trubetskoy, drums crowned by tapering domes
were deliberately scored to resemble candles,
thus manifesting a certain aesthetic and religious
attitude. Another explanation has it that the
onion dome was originally regarded as a form
reminiscent of the edicula (cubiculum) in the
Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.

SOCCER,
THE GAME THAT
BRINGS US TOGETHER

A SHORT HISTORY

The FIFA World Cup was first held in 1930, when FIFA president Jules Rimet
decided to stage an international football tournament. The inaugural edition
was contested as a final tournament of only thirteen teams invited by the
organization. Since then, the World Cup has experienced successive expansions
and format remodeling to its current 32-team final tournament preceded by a
two-year qualifying process, involving over 200 teams from around the world.
The last World Cup was held in Brazil, marking the second time that Brazil
hosted the competition. The cup was won by Germany, who beat Argentina 1–0
in the final. The Netherlands defeated Brazil 3–0 in the bronze medal game.
2014 was the first time that three consecutive tournaments saw the winning
side come from the same continent (Europe: 2006 Italy, 2010 Spain, 2014

Germany).

Where the water
meets friendship

A STORY LINE THAT IS A WONDERFUL
STORY OF COURAGE, BRAVERY AND
PERSEVERANCE

BY TAPANGEL

Finding Nemo is a great family movie. The bright
colors of the tropical fish are great for the kids. It
grabs their attention and holds it. The way the fish
swim through the ocean is fascinating for them to
watch. The older ones love the story line and the
funny jokes that are added throughout the movie,
especially Dory, who is one of their favorite
characters. For adults, there is a story line that is a
wonderful story of courage, bravery and
perseverance. When almost all of his family is wiped
out by an attack, he preserves and takes great care
of his only son, Nemo. He works to keep him safe,
but even thought he was as careful as he could be
there were forces beyond his control that take
Nemo away from him.

Nemo is brave and finds friends who can help him
along his away, especially Dory. She is not afraid
and wants to help Nemo at all costs. She goes with
him and wants to make sure that he finds his
father. All the while, his father is trying to find him.
He preserves through all the hurdles and obstacles
until his finds his son. This is a great story where
there are two people (or fish in this case) looking
for each other in a big wide ocean where there are
thousands of miles to cover. They need help along
the way to navigate their way back to each other. It
is like finding to find two specific grains of sand on
a thousand miles of beach. You can do it alone, but
it will take longer and adventures are always better
when you work together with friends.

As a favorite of mine, I can watch
this movie over and over and I will
never get tired of it. The entire
film is great and entertaining,
from beginning to end. No matter
how many times I watch the
movie, I continue to laugh and
smile and cry throughout the
entire film. In my honest opinion,
Finding Nemo is one of the
greatest Disney Pixar movies ever
created. I will never stop loving or
watching this movie. I highly
recommend this film to all families
and anyone who just wants a cute,
funny, and happy story :)

all are
welcome

A QUALITY SENSE OF HUMOR THROUGHOUT THE
ENTIRE FILM

BY TENNIS4ME97

As a big movie buff, I like a wide variety of movies including
horror, comedy, romance, and animated/family films. I can easily
say that throughout all of the genres and types of movies that I
have seen, Finding Nemo has been one of my favorites for
several years now. Finding Nemo is a favorite of mine for several
reasons: the great quality/color of the film, the sweet and
adorable characters, the heartwarming story, and a quality sense
of humor throughout the entire film. This movie is a classic, and
is great for all ages and families. The film is filled with
adventure, laughter, and even life lessons.

What is this GDPR
thing?

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) took
effect in every EU member state in May 2018 and
affects every organisation that collects or handles
data relating to EU residents, or operates within the
EU.

The Regulation itself is a long document (118 pages of
legalese), and failure to meet the requirements could
turn out to be expensive – up to 4% of annual global

data controller is responsible for demonstrating that
the organisation applies to the six principles outlined in
Article 5 of the GDPR:

Personal data must be:

1. processed lawfully, fairly and transparently.

2. adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary
for processing.

3. accurate and kept up to date.

4. kept in a form such that the data subject can be
