Denzel “Denny” Olajuwon Morton, 23, of Charlottesville I
entered eternal rest on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at the T
University of Virginia Medical Center. U
Denzel was born in Charlottesville on September 2, 1992 to A
Essie “Sweetpea” Morton and Anthony “Ant” Turner. R
He was proceeded in death by his grandmothers Patricia Y
Bailey and Janette Turner; grandfather Walter Carey; uncle

will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. Denzel was deeply loved by his family and by his
community. He was very respectful with a heart of
Isaiah 43:2 compassion. His smile was infectious and he had a very
“jokey” attitude. He graduated from Charlottesville High
School and loved to shop and get dressed. He had a very
unique style.
Denzel leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Essie
“Sweetpea” Morton; his father Anthony “Ant” Turner;
stepfather Anthony “Tony” Avent; his brothers Brian and
Anthony “AJ” Morton; sister Tierra “Tbonez” Morton; 12
nieces and nephews, Jaleel, Mateka, Briancae, Abraizhia,
Brian Jr, Quamiz, Olajuwon, Yaceia, Reginae, Mashiyah,
Anthony Jr; 3 special cousins LaShawna Rose, Dashe
Morton, and Markwin Howard; a host of friends, Danny,
Antonio, Dreshawn, James, Devante, Jamar, Damar, Terrell
and Kelly Gonzales, who was like a second mother; and a
very special significant other, Laqueshia Burgess.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the
First Baptist Church located at 632 W Main Street with
Pastor Hodari Hamilton officiating. Shaun A Reid Funeral
Home is responsible for the arrangements.
