Developing a vaccine generally involves years of
research. First we need a vaccine candidate that is
evaluated in animals for its safety and efficacy. Earlier,
the vaccine development involved a series of steps, Jwala Amrita P M
but in the case of the coronavirus vaccine, the – 6B
scientists and regulators worked in tandem
accelerating the whole process without compromises on any protocols
and step. India now has three vaccines against COVID – 19
1. Covaxin
Covaxin is India’s first indigenous vaccine against COVID – 19. It has been
developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of
Medical Research and National Institute of Wirology. An inactivated
vaccine is one which is developed by killing the live microorganisms that
cause the disease. This destroys the pathogen’s ability to replicate but
keeps it intact so that the immune system can still recognise it and
produce an immune response.
It is a 2- dose vaccination regimen
given 28 days apart.
2. Covishield
Covishield has been developed by the University of Oxford along with
British pharmaceutical major AstraZeneca. Pune
based India’s Serum Institute {SII} is their
manufacturing and trial partner. Covishield uses
a replication – deficient Chimpanzee viral vector
based on a weakened version of a comman cold
virus { Adenovirus } that causes infections in
Chimpanzees and contains the genetic material
of the SRAS , Cov-2 virus spike protein. After vaccinenation, the surface
spike protein is produced, priming the immune system to attack the SRAS,
Cov-2 virus if it later infects the body.
3. Sputnik V vaccine
Sputnik V is a viral vector
vaccine for COVID-19 developed by the
Russia’s Gramaleya Research Institute of
Epidemiology and Microbiology. Sputnik V is a
two-dose Covid-19 vaccine using a similar
platform to Covishield. Sputnik V makes use of
two different human adenoviruses. The first
dose of Sputnik V was administered in Hyderabad.

INVENTION OF COMPUTER
Diya K – 6B
Babbage is considered by
some to be "father of the computer".
Babbage is credited with inventing
the first mechanical computer, the
Difference engine, that eventually led
to more complex electronic designs, though all the essential
ideas of modern computers are to be found in Babbage's
Analytical Engine. A computer takes in information as input,
processes the data, and gives new information as the output.
A computer is used for various purposes. It is used for making
Software, documents, invoices, lists, etc. Computers help
increase user productivity, and users become more
productive at everything you do on the software running on
the computer with a good understanding. A computer has
the ability to connect you to the network or the Internet. A
computer system can use its stored information more
appropriately as compared to another device.
