There are some short term effects of heroin. Heroin becomes morphine in the brain, creating a powerful, enjoyable rush. The rush's strength depends on how much and how quickly the drug is taken. Users often feel warm, have a dry mouth, and heavy limbs during the rush. They may also experience nausea, vomiting, and itching. After the initial effects, users become drowsy, their thinking is cloudy, their heart rate slows, and breathing becomes dangerously slow, even leading to coma and permanent brain damage. ”
