CLUBS & MOVEMENTS
The Rose of Sharon Academy Chess Club par cipated in the KCB Bank Junior Open
Championship on 15th July 2017. The players performed well, bearing in mind that
this was their first compe on. They scored 3/6 points on average.
Our Guidance and Counseling has con nuously mentored the pupils through
teachers' mentorship, a Mr. Joseph Nginya, a lecturer and resource person from
Nazarene University who comes in handy in mee ng the day – to –day needs of all
pupils in the school.
Art Club has made great strides in developing the manipula ve skills of the
learners. They have made picture frames, puppets, decora ons and wall hangings.
Cookery Club prepared and served various mouth watering products like
Mahamri, bread sandwich, milk shake, marinated chicken, pancakes, sweet
potatoes and burgers. Addi onally, they lay tables and discussed safety involved
when you are in the kitchen.
Wildlife Club members collected and disposed rubbish in the right places,
debated on how to protect our endangered species, prepared and planted
vegetables in the school farm, watched documentaries on wildlife interdepence,
recited poems on wildlife, drew wildlife and displayed them on the no ce board,
talked on importance of taking care of trees, transferred seedlings to the field and
watered them. Finally, they wrote a composi on on wildlife.
Ska ng Club allowed and trained the pupils as individuals and groups on inline
ska ng, slowing in skates, moving with skates to improve controls, taking corners,
pu ng together figures, increasing speed, small jumps and improving passing
skills in matches.

The Swimming Club par cipated in LIFETIME JUNIOR AND SENIOR CHMPIONSHIP GALA 15th JULY 2017 AT BELLEVUE
SCHOOL at South C.It was an opportunity for the novice and elite swimmers to exhibit their talents and register their me
in the database which enable them par cipate in more challenging and compe ve meets.
Team RSA emerged third in the girls' category and second in the boys’ category and we were awarded two trophies. The
best swimmers were awarded medals: 11 Gold, 9 Silver and 5 Bronze, while the rest got cer ficates of par cipa on.
The event was good exposure for swimmers, coaches and parents. It mo vated them for more galas to come.
