Department Philosophy: Our mission is to provide students with the knowledge and skills of technology,
business and economic models, and legal principles as they relate to society’s thriving industries.

Course Description: This course will be an application/project based class. While completing these
projects you will be using and learning a variety of software applications. Some of these applications
will be: the basic nature of the Internet, HTML and JavaScript Coding, images and graphics, hyperlinks
and page transition, tables, page layouts, and creating web pages with HTML coding and Adobe
Dreamweaver CS4, PowerPoint, Publisher, Flash, Animations and Movie Maker.

Web Design Pathway: Introduction to Digital Design, Digital Design and Web Design in which an
End of Pathway Assessment will be administered.

SKILLS TO BE DEVELOPED
Upon completion of the semester, you will master…..
 The Internet safely for communication and research.
 Searching the Internet effectively and evaluate Web sites for reliability.
 PowerPoint, Publisher, Dreamweaver CS4 to create Web sites.
 HTML tags and attributes.
 Hyperlinks, graphics, Web-safe colors, and multimedia elements in a Web site.

IT-WD-9: Explore how related student organizations are integral parts of career and technology
education courses through leadership development, school and community service projects,
entrepreneurship development, and competitive events.

* Based on established national/international standards for the Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate
Programs, these courses are exempted from and/or may make modifications to the system-wide grading percentages.
However, the approved syllabi template established by the DeKalb County School System will be used.

Internet Acceptable Use:
The DeKalb County School District provides technologies, networks, and Internet access to support the educational
mission of the District and to enhance the curriculum and learning opportunities for students and District employees.
These technology resources may be used only in support of education and research and consistent with the educational
objectives of the District.

All guidelines set forth in this policy and any relevant regulations or rules are applicable to all telecommunication services
and equipment provided by the District including, but not limited to, the following:

1. Computer workstations and notebook computers;
2. Smart phones, tablets, e-readers, and other mobile devices;
3. Internet services;
4. Telephone services; and
5. Cellular telephone services.

Required Materials:
Students are required to maintain a 1” three ring binder with divider tabs daily in class to write journals, assignments, notes
and handouts. Students must also purchase a flash drive that must be brat all times! No exceptions!

Required Student Login: Students are to log on with the student number only! Username s + student # and Password
are dekalb + the last four digits of student #.

Required Email and Edmodo Accounts:
Students are required to create a GMAIL account in Google using their 1st 3 letters of their last name + the last 4 digits of
YOUR student # as their Username and eagles + the last 4 digits of student # for YOUR Password.

Classroom Expectations:
1. Be in class and seated when the bell rings, a TARDY POLICY will be enforced!
2. Bring flash drive and notebook to class daily.
3. There will be NO inappropriate or personal use of the Internet in this classroom.
4. Adhere to DeKalb County School System Code of Student Conduct.
5. DeKalb County School System DRESS CODE will be enforced in this classroom.

Late Assignments, Make-up, Re-do Policy:
All assignments and projects should be completed and turned in by the due date. Any missed or makeup work can be
turned in up to two days prior to the semester ending and the following grading scale will apply:

17 – 13 Weeks Late…………………………………………………………….50%
12 – 7 Weeks Late……………………………………………………………...60%
6 – 1 Week(s) Late…………………………………………………………..…70%

The due date of an assignment determines how late it is.

Please Note: This applies to EXCUSED and UNEXCUSED TARDIES/ABSENCES. This is an attempt to prevent you
(the student) from receiving a ZERO and possibly failing the class, this is by no means a REQUIREMENT of the teacher.

Hall and Restroom Passes
The teacher will not be issuing hall passes for any reason the first 20 minutes or the last 20 minutes of class.

Course Articulation:
A high school graduate may earn college credit for certain courses through the Dekalb Tech Prep Consortium Tech Prep
Programs of Student if he/she:

Earns a A or B letter grade
Receives a Certificate of Articulation signed by the high school course instructor
Has an official high school transcript with a Tech Prep stamp and certificate attached
Meets the admissions requirements of Dekalb Technical College
Enrolls in Dekalb Technical College within 18 months of high school graduation
Passes the written and/or performance assessments by instructional personnel at the college

The teacher reserves the right to change or adjust any section of the Course Syllabus at any time during the
semester to more adequately meet the needs, abilities, and interest of the students.
