AAttitudes
I always try to be nice to people. I think first impression is really important because, it’s
representing yourself. For instance, last year, it was my first time to live in the dorms.
So, I tried my best to be nice to friends. At first, of course it was hard but, as time went
by, I was able to be friends with 7th graders(current 8th graders). I still miss them a lot
because I lived with them for a year.
BBeach
I love the BEACH!!! This summer, in LA, I went to various beaches in LA. I was
amazed especially Santa Monica Beach. In Korea, there aren’t many beaches with
lots of sand. So, when I went to Santa Monica Beach, I was just surprised with the
white sand. Also, it was kind of refreshing when I went to the beach near the LAX. I
could see airplanes in the sky when I’m lying down on the beach sand. To conclude,
beaches just make me to chill out and make my stresses to fly away.
CCambodia
In 8th grade, for our service learning/leading trip, we went to Cambodia. It was my first
time to visit there and I totally liked it! Of course, I enjoyed the tour we did but,
especially I really liked the kids I met in the community centre. I really like working with
kids and I was very excited when I heard we have an opportunity to meet kids. It was
kind of my dream to teach what I’m capable of. So, when I was teaching them English,
I really enjoyed it. After I went back from the trip, I really thanked KIS for giving me this
amazing experience.
DDance
I really enjoy dancing. I keep this really personal because, I feel very embarrassed
when somebody introduces me that I like dancing or good at dancing. I don’t know
why and I don’t want to feel embarrassed when I’m dancing but, it’s my one of my
weakness now. However, when I’m alone I really enjoy and feel happy when I’m
dancing.
(Wanted to find my picture
but I can’t find it :( )
EEnglish
My first exposure to English was when I went to kindergarten. I went to an English
kindergarten and was educated with a foreign teacher. From then, it was my goal to
go to an English speaking country and marry a overseas girl. Eventually have an
happy life with her and my kids. The reason I thought of this was because, I hated
Korean Education System which was just memorizing without understanding anything.
I don’t want my kids to suffer in that education system. So, it’s my ultimate goal to
have a happy family in U.S.A.
FFamily
My family is made up with 4 people including me. My parents, my sister, and me. My
proud father runs a clothing manufacturing company. He basically makes clothes for
big brands like Nike, Puma, Adidas etc… The reason I went to Vietnam was his
branch in Vietnam and Indonesia. I’m so proud of my father and feel proud when I
introduce him. Second is my lovely mom. She is a housewife who lives mainly for our
family. She is really passionate with our education and our health. When I’m a little bit
sick, she doesn’t hesitate and takes me to the hospital. I just can’t explain in words
how much I love my mom!! Last, my gorgeous sister. She is 4 years older than me;
she went to college this year. She is my another mom. Since she was in 9th grade,
when my mom has to go somewhere, she did me foods and took care of me. Actually,
this year she achieved a driver license and my father bought her a car. During
summer, she gave me a ride to and from the academy. I really love her and miss her
very much. LOVE YA FAMILY~
GGrades
Of course, grades can’t be excluded in introducing myself. I think any student around
the world is worried about their grade because, of their future life. Future life can be
defined into many different ways but, here I’m talking about going into a good college.
It’s really not my idea but, in reality to have a stabilized job later in the future, going
into a great college is important. That’s the reality and to survive we need to adapt to
realities.
HHome
My home! For everyone, I think their home is their best hotel ever. When I go back
home after staying in the dorms, I just feel relaxed. It’s the weird feeling I get when I
go back to my house. It makes me to feel comfortable and just to be happy. Also,
there are family who feel up the house. There are no need explanation for our home
with words!
(That’s the building that I’m living right now in Bucheon near Seoul.)
IItalian Foods
My favorite foods are Italian foods. When it’s my birthday, when it’s weekends, or
when it’s just my choice to eat food with my friend I order Italian foods. Especially, I
love barbecue pizza and carbonara pasta. When I was in LA, I ate cream pasta for
lunch three days in a row. I just don’t get tired with pastas and pizzas. Luckily my mom
loves Italian foods too, so when we go together for lunch, we usually go to an italian
restaurant.
(Um… So, delicious!)
JJennifer
She was one of my chaperones for my LA camp. First, to describe her, she is
amazing! Since day one, I was hanging around with her, exploring LA. Due to the fact
she is from LA, she knew what was going on in LA and she was capable in answering
questions for me. Second, she is a very good listener. We were staying in a university
named “Loyola Marymount University”. So, we had lunch and dinner(occasionally) in
the cafeteria. When we were having lunch, she was very interested in learning various
countries’ culture and history. When I told her about the history and cultures about
South Korea, her eyes were shining and her reactions made me to tell her more about
South Korea. Last, Jennifer and I both enjoyed music. She introduced a genre
“Reggae” and I introduced her “KPOP” which I really love. To conclude, we had lots
of common areas of interests and I really miss her. When a taxi guy put my luggage in
the trunk of the taxi, I was running in to tears. I hate goodbyes. I still remember that
moment when I said “I will come back to LA, don’t forget me and let’s meet when I visit
LA once more. Okay? Love ya!”.
(Picture of her and I in Santa Monica Beach)
KKIS
When my mom called the business office in KIS, a woman named Jenny, told her “In
October our school starts. In our school, there are lots of festivals: fall festival, winter
arts day, spring arts day, and we constantly have drama performances for the school
faculty.” When my mom told about drama performances, I just wanted to go to KIS. I
just love performing and participating in drama and it was my dream so. I came to KIS
last year when I was in 8th grade. It’s not my first time to be in a International School
but, being in dorms was my first try. Well, the school was awesome. I just loved the
teachers and friends here. Of course, at first it was hard for me to make friends really
early but, later on the kids were nice to me. So, we had an amazing year. However,
the dorms were horrible. Literally, our freedom was just taken away. The dorms didn’t
listened to us and I actually loved the school for some times. So, the dorms gave me
homesick. I cried by myself several times and really had a suffering time. However,
Jongmin and Ricky(who currently went out of KIS), helped me a lot to adjust to a new
environment. Now, I’m in High School and I love it!
LLA
This summer I went to Los Angeles. I think I have said this every where in my
assignments but, I say it here again because now it became a big part of my life. Even
though it has been over 2 weeks coming back from LA, I can’t forget about it. It was
my first trip alone in my family and participating in a camp. I was concerned because, I
was the only one going alone. Every other kids came with their friends. However, I
thought those stuff can’t be a obstacle for me. So, I chose to participate in a camp,
and I met amazing people. They were the chaperones in our camp, Jennifer and
Amanda. Every day in LA, I was always next to them. They made me to enjoy LA
more than I have expected. I still keep in touch with them even though there is a time
difference. Also, there were two guys, one Korean and the other was Chinese. They
were in 7th grade and we had a great time as well. In the camp, there were Chinese,
Korean, Italians, and Egyptians. Despite the fact the camp took place in LA, it was my
first time to spend time with Italians and Egyptians. So, it was a great experience for
me and refreshing experience. Oh, by the way, it was kind of refreshing when I was
riding a ferris wheel in California Adventure. The part where we rode actually moved
forwards and backwards. That was so awesome.
(Me
and the two 7th graders in California Adventure, LA.)
MMusic
I really love music. I can’t live one day without a music. Right now, I’m listening to
music. My favorite genre is KPOP which stands for Korean Pop Music. When I listen
to them, it makes me to feel better, if I have a hard time. Although KPOP has a
problem with the singer’s singing ability, I still like the way they perform it. By the way,
when I was staying LA, I actually did a presentation about KPOP! I felt confident
because, I was presenting a topic that I really love. If I make a connection with writing
class, I really liked it when we were allowed to choose our topic(Thank you Mrs. Kim
:))
(This is one of the albums in KPOP! She is my favorite singer in KPOP, Park Bo Ram, and if
you are interested in listening to her music go and click this link. Enjoy and tell me what you
think about her thanks!)
NNorth Korea
I talked about North Korea in my Formative Assessment #1. The reason I did that was
because, I am really interested in North Korea. It’s because of I think I’m so curious
about the people’s life in a blocked society without hope, happiness, and information.
Also, I think I’m interested because, they ware a part of our country. They have
provoked us a lot after the partition. Recently, they provoked again and South Korea
didn’t stay with it. They turned on a megaphone towards North Korea and turned on
South Korea’s music, world’s news, etc… Due to this, lots of North Koreans have ran
out of North Korea at the past. So, North Korea ordered South Korea to turn that off
but, South Korea furious about the provocation, the North and the South nearly had a
war. However, they had a meeting and prevented a war.
(So sad... )
OObstacle
In my life, no in every human being’s life there is an obstacle. However, I really try to
jump over that obstacle. For example, to overcome the hardness in a Korean Public
School, I went to a friendly International School and doing my best here. Also, it
doesn’t stop here. There will be more obstacles in my life but, I will always try my best
to overcome it. That’s my major goal.
(That’s
going to be me in the future!)
PPlans
My plans for my life is to happy life. To be specific, I want to go to a university in the
United States and learn more about U.S.A’s culture. Also, the reason I want to go to a
university in the United States is to learn more deeply about the language English and
to utilize it at my work. Now, if you know how to speak English, when you go to a
foreign country majority of them knows how to speak English. So, it matches in many
purposes. This will help my future family to have a stable life. That’s my dream, to
make my family have a happy life.
(Planning is important right?)
QQuotes
The moment I thought of writing for the alphabet “Q”, I thought this word “Quote”. The
reason was because of Ms. Fregetto. Last year, most of the 8th graders were first to
learn about MLA formatting. So, Ms. Fregetto was very strict about finding quotes from
the novel and to write down it in our essays in a proper MLA formatting way. Thanks to
Ms. Fregetto, I’m much confident with writing down quotes with MLA formatting.
Thanks Ms. Fregetto and I miss you so much!
(MLA FORMATTING FOR THIS YEAR TOO!)
RRamen
I think Ramen is the most convenient food students can have in the dorms. However,
the dorms never let us to have ramen. That’s kind of depressing you know :( By the
way, when I was in LA, I tried a Japanese Ramen. I thought only Koreans love to have
spicy food but, even I chose mild for my spicy level it was kind of spicy. Japanese
Ramen was kind of different with Korean Ramen. The soup they have is white and
they prefer to put pork in it. I really encourage you to try it!
(Japanese ramen!)
SSan Diego Seaworld
From LA to San Diego is a 2 hour ride. So, me and our group had to leave LA early in
the morning. The way to San Diego was pretty. When we were near San Diego, I
could see the beautiful sea. It looked like a drawing; especially the panorama with the
sea and the little huts looked awesome. Eventually, we arrived at the San Diego
Seaworld. As soon as I went out of the van, it was so hot. The guide there told us how
the schedule for the shows worked. The three of us(me and the two 7th graders)
decided to ride a short rollercoaster. Luckily, we had to wait for like 15 minutes. So, we
rode that and it was so fun. It’s turns and the 360 degrees turns were awesome. I can’t
even explain that with words. We enjoyed the shows too. The whales were huge and
the dolphins were so cute. That day, we felt so tired.
(This is the killer whale show. This was just awesome!!)
TTatsu
Tatsu is a ride in Six Flags Magic Mountain LA. In Magic Mountain it is known to be
Tatsu is the second scariest ride in Six Flags. For X2 we only waited for like 30
minutes. However, for Tatsu we waited for like 1 hour and 30 minutes. The waiting line
was located outside which made the sun to shine upon us. Even though it was so hard
to wait for it, we waited willing to ride it. Similar to X2, it started above ground. Like a
OTL position *Look photo 1*. It went up as a mountain height and went down crazily
turning around 360 degrees and it was just making my hands to lose it’s power. I had
to let go of my hand with sweat. I actually felt this was more scary than X2. I think it’s
because of the height. I could see LA up there you know. When you have an
opportunity of visiting LA, never forget Six Flags is in LA!

UUniversal Studio
On the third day of my trip in LA, I went to Universal Studio. It was so hot that day.
However, I was amazed to be in place that I only heard of before and really wanted to
come. I rode the tram for our first ride. It was so fun and I was stunned to see the skills
they had for making movies. The 3D experience was refreshing and I was like
screaming the whole time. The most exciting part was when I saw the place where the
movie stars took “To kill a mockingbird”. I could clearly remember the scene where
this place had came out. That kind of gave me a goosebump. Also, the most hardest
thing in Universal Studio was that when I was waiting for the ride called “The Mummy”,
they said it will take 45 minutes to wait. Jennifer and I was totally okay with that.
However, it did not take 45 minutes. We waited for nearly 2 hours!!! We had to wait in
the hot sun packed with people and I was sweating so badly. However, when I think
about it now, I just laugh at that moment.
(SOOOO HOT!!)
VVietnam
I have lots to talk about with Vietnam because, I have lived there about three years. I
went to Vietnam with my family when I was 8 due to my father’s company’s expansion.
There, I went an International School for the first time. Due to this experience, I think I
was able to adjust fastly in KIS. The reason I have a tanned skin is mostly because of
Vietnam even though it has been 5 years ago when I came back to Korea(well, LA
was really a big influence now but…). So, I’m very excited to go to Vietnam for service
leading/learning trip! It feels like I’m going back to my childhood.
(City where I lived in
Vietnam called Ho Chi Minh City.)
WWax Museum
This summer in LA Hollywood, I visited a wax museum. Even though there is a wax
museum in Korea, I never visited one. The name of the museum was Madame
Tussauds Hollywood. I was aware of how wax sculpture looked like but, it was
amazing when I went there. When I saw the first sculpture, the instance I thought it
was a real person even though I have a concept of a wax sculpture’s appearance. I
strongly suggest you this wax museum, it’s going to be a amazing time. By the way,
there is Madame Tussauds in Busan and Seoul too!
(With Charlie Chaplin!)
XX2
This summer in Six Flags, I took X2. They said it’s the world’s most scariest ride in the
whole world. It made my interest to reach the sky and I took it. When I sat down on the
seat, there was a sound coming out “Are you ready? We’re going to go!” in a really
creepy voice. Due to the staff, I had to take my glasses off. So, I couldn’t see the seat
belt and the voices were saying we’re going to go. I screamed “I’M NOT READY TO
GO!!!!!” Then one staff came and did the seat belt for me and said “Calm down, it’s
going to be okay.” Therefore, I took the ride safely. It was off my imagination. It went
backwards and we were hanging on the tracks. After one of my group told me that
sound was just a recording coming out of the speakers. I was so embarrassed and I
laughed so hardly my voices went out. I really guarantee you will have fun in Six Flags
Magic Mountain LA.
(Yes, the
ride breathes fire. I FELT THE HEAT ON MY FACE WHEN I WAS RIDING IT!!)
YYellow
I usually yellow to lastly decorate my drawings or posters. I think yellow can make
things brighter and look out to people. So, this summer, I wanted to dye my hair to
yellowish blonde. Due to my skin color, I thought if I change my hair color more bright,
it can make my skin not that dark. However, my mom was concerned with my hair’s
condition if I bleach my hair. The color I have right now is the brightest I can get with
only dying. My minor goal is to try yellowish blonde in my life!
(Yellow smile!)
ZZebra
In mammals, I love zebras. I just love their stripes and the way they runs. Also, when I
listen to musics that makes an imagery of wild life, I think of the zebras the first.
Especially, zebras running on a green meadow is awesome. When I see somebody’s
drawing or picture of them I just stand there staring at that masterpiece and imagine
that moment. By the way, “Cheerleader by OMI” makes me to think of the wild life.
(Ain’t this a beauty?)
