PLAY DAY RULES

Play day for the 9 hole group is Wednesdays
And Thursdays for the 18 hole group.

The 9 Hole format is a Tee Time start beginning at 9:00am.
The 18 hole format is a Shot Gun start beginning at 9:00 am.
Players must check in with the pro shop at least 20 minutes prior to their tee time.

Signing up to Play…
Players must sign up on GOLF GENIUS by 12 noon the prior day

(to do this sign in to GOLFGENSIUS.COM and sign in with your email address and
password)

or you may call the Pro Shop.
The Pro Shop computer will then divide the groups into their respective foursomes.

The Pro Shop will print the scorecards, rules (if needed) ,and handle registration.
The posting of scores and announcement of the winners will be available on Golf Genius

The Pro Shop will also compute the weekly Player Of The Year Points.

GOLFGENIUS.com
Available to you on your home computer/phone.
Please take the time to learn this website it is full of information.
If you have problems with accessing this please ask one of us or Steve to help you.

Players may not switch tee times/assigned groups with other players. Failure to start
play at the assigned time, with the assigned group, on any Play Day will make a player

ineligible for weekly winnings or for postings in Par/Birdie/Chip-Ins and Ringers.

There will be a weekly fee of $3.00 automatically charged to your account. The total
number of players for any given day will determine the prizes/winnings for that week.

Winnings will be credited to each play for use in the Pro Shop.

ALL PLAY DAY GAMES USE NET SCORES UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE IN THE GAME
DESCRIPTION.

To be eligible, a member must have an established USGA handicap and must have posted
at least 10 scores in the preceding 12 months. The maximum HC for all KPLGA events

will be a 36 for 18-holes and a 40 for 9-holes.

All putts must be holed out. You may pick you ball up at the Maximum allowable score
Unless it affects that day’s game.

If you pick-up you will not be eligable for POTY points since a net and gross score will be
needed.

USGA rules/ettiquette will govern all rules of play; they cannot be waived by mutual
agreement of the players concerned. When in doubt, play 2 balls for the hole in question,

until a ruling is made.

All play day and scheduled tournaments must be played on the day scheduled.
You may not play ahead of or later than the event.

9

**IMPORTANT**

Information Regarding Posting Scores, Birdies/Pars, Ringers

& POTY Points

On Play Days, the Pro Shop will distribute individual score cards to each player.

Cards will be exchanged with others in your playing group for scoring. The

marker (you) will keep her score on lines located at the bottom of the card.

Any Birdie for the 18-hole and Par for the 9 should be noted on the players

card. At the end of the round, the player and the marker, will attest each card,

sign and turn into the Pro Shop. The Pro Shop will do all calculations for the

day’s winners and POTY Points.

ALL THIS INFORMATION WILL BE AVAILABLE ON GOLFGENIUS.COM

THE PROSHOP PROFESSIONALS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR POSTING

THE PLAY DAY SCORES FOR HANDICAP PURPOSES

There will be an alphabetized file with a section for each player in which all

scores will be kept throughout the year for both 18/9 hole players. The
Ringers committee chair in charge will post the ringers. The 18/9 hole vice

presidents will keep up with the Player of the Year Points (as well as the

proshop) Birdies & Pars. This is being done to assure that all scores – whether

for Play Day winners, Ringers, Birdies/Pars and POTY points – will come from

attested scores, just as would be done in any tournament or challenge event.

• Play day games, with the collection of $3 per player, will go on with
no minimum number of players.

• If anyone drops out, her money stays in the pot and is paid out to
place positions determined by the number of players who finished the

round.

• For POTY points – NO Minimum number of players is required on a
Play Day for play to count toward points.

• If anyone drops out, the number of POTY points will be calculated
based on the number of players who start.

• If a player drops out, but has played the minimum number of holes
requires to compute and record a score for handicap purposes, she

must turn her incomplete score card in to the Pro Shop. The

recordable score will be computed and entered into the GHIN.

• An incomplete score, which is entered for handicap purposes, cannot
be counted toward the day’s Play Day Game or toward POTY points.

Although it will be counted toward Birdies/Pars and ringers.

THE PROSHOP WILL BE ENTERING ALL PLAY DAY SCORES.

YOU MUST TURN IN YOUR SCORECARD, WHETHER YOU DO OR DO NOT

FINISH THE ROUND. 10

The ringers score is an ideal round composed of the very best you’ve
ever shot
at the

Golden Bear Club at Keene’s Pointe

It is composed of your best shots for each hole from the same tees
during

KPLGA play days.

Think of it as your

“Ultimate Round”

There is no cost to you, and is open to both 9 & 18 hole players.
Ringers play begins in September and ends in May.

Scores that are posted are from individual stroke play only
when you play with KPLGA.

Scores not included in ringers:
Any games played in “Best Ball” format

“Scramble” format
“Match Play”

Games that are NOT KPLGA
(Ex: GBC events: Member/Guest & Club Championship)

Although…
If a game is played with an “Aggregate” format

The aggregate format WILL count.

All scores posted are “Gross” score.

***NOTE***
For the 9 Hole league only the front 9 will count for ringers

Prizes will be awarded at the end of the year when all scores are

totaled.
Winners will be announced at the “Spring Celebration”.

11

Players who choose to participate in the Chip-ins event that day win
the Money.

How to participate in “Chip-Ins”
Chip-Ins are played on a weekly basis, so you must pay and sign up

every week.
BEFORE teeing off
Go into the Pro Shop
Place you $1.00 into the Chip-Ins jar
And Sign your name on the “Chip-Ins” sheet of paper
You must do both to participate
(If you do only one you are disqualified for that day)

When you turn in your cards to the Pro Shop at the end of the round,

you will inform them at that time of your chip in. If you forget and
the winner(s) are announced … it’s too late!

The person(s) with chip-ins for that day will win the money or a
portion of the money.

Multiple chip-ins, by one individual, only count as one chip in.

In the event that no player gets a chip-in that week, the money jar will
be saved until the next week. You must add your $1.00 and sign-up
the following week to be eligible again.

Once you release your dollar in that chip jar, it cannot be removed (by
anyone)!

The Vice-President will be in charge of keeping track of the chip-ins
of both 9-18 hole players.

The Person(s) with the most chip-ins will be given an award at the
end of year

A season long competition to identify and reward the player
whose handicap index has improved the most over the course of

the year.
May 1st 2018 to April 30th 2019

How Most Improved Player works:

• Every KPLGA player is signed up to play at no cost to you.
• All KPLGA members must be in good standing with a

verifiable
GHIN Handicap.
• GHIN Handicaps are recorded on May 1st 2018 (the end of
last season) and are compared to the same members’
indices near the end of the season – April 30th 2019 is the
cutoff date for the 2018-2019 season.
• New members joining the KPLGA at the start of the
season or thereafter will use their verifiable index at
joining.
• A player must be an active league player who has played
at least 8 times during the season.
• USGA Handicap System Manual rules for computing most
improved are used to determine the winner.

The Most Improved Golfer will be announced during the

“Spring Celebration”

(You can track Most Improved Player all season long on
Golf Genius)

19

We will follow these rules for calculating
The Player of the Year award
During the 2018-2019 season

Points will be accumulated throughout the season.

Points will be awarded for all KPLGA play days and
Events. Except: Scrambles, Member Guest and Guest Day.

Points awarded on play days will go to the place winners,
from the Game of that day. Points will be calculated based
upon the number of entrants.

Extra points will be awarded for the KPLGA Championship,
Match Play, Member-Member as well as the

Club Championship.

Match Play points will be awarded based on the last round
a Player wins. You must win a match to earn extra points.
Any player who concedes without attempting to schedule
will have the number of points earned in the prior match
deducted from any number she has already accumulated
during the season. Participants in Match Play can still
play on play days in January for extra points.

The Player of the Year will be the player in each of the
9 and 18 Hole groups with the highest number of points.
In case of a tie, the player with the highest point total,
from play days only, will be the winner.

The Player of the Year will have her name engraved on a
trophy/plaque in the GBC display case.

The Pro Shop will be responsible for keeping the point
totals current.

Match Play Tournament Guidelines

Qualifying Round

18 Hole Players: 18 hole stroke play event to determine players
(maximum of 16) and establish seeding: 2018 winner is automatic #1
seed and does not need to qualify. If that player declines to accept the
automatic seeding, she will play in the qualifier and will be subject to the
rules regarding number of players and seeding. A Player must play in
the Qualifying Round to participate in Match Play. If there are fewer

than 16 players, byes will be used.

9 Hole Players: 9-hole stroke play event to determine seeding. If fewer
than 6 players sign up, a round robin Match Play event will be held.

Format: This is a handicap match play tournament. i.e. lowest net score
per hole wins the hole.

Handicap: Players will play with the handicap they have on the day of
Qualifying during the entire Match Play tournament.

Winners: Main Draw winner is 1st place; Main Draw winner runner-up
is 2nd place Consolation Bracket winner is 3rd place.

Timing: Each round is to be completed by the Saturday of the following
week. The “Default” day for playing will be the Play Day (Wednesday for
9-hole and Thursday for 18-hole) If competitors choose to play on their

play day, they will not be able to play in that day’s game.
If two players cannot decide on a date/time, then the player who is able
to play on the Default day wins the match. If neither is able to play on
the Default day, a coin is tossed to determine who wins and who forfeits.
This provision is subject to discussion with the KPLGA President, Club
Head Pro and Match Play Chair if there are extenuating circumstances.
Semifinal & Final rounds may be given an extended deadline for unusual

circumstances with the permission from the KPLGA President, Club
Head Pro and Match Play Chair.

Order of Play: Lowers seed tees off first. Ball farthest from the pin
then plays, etc. Net winner of hole tees off first on the next hole.
*Penalty for playing out of turn through the green: opponent
has the right to ask you to play your shot over.

Practice Putting: Permitted after hole is completed.

22

Match Play Tournament Guidelines (Continued)

All Square after 18 holes: Return to Hole #1 and play as many holes

in sudden death as required to break the tie.

Recording Match Play Scores: Please enter your match scores as you
would any other scores, not as “tournament” scores.

If a putt is conceded, please make your own decision as to how many
putts you think it would take to finish the hole and put the

corresponding score for that hole. If a hole is conceded or if your
match concludes after playing 7 holes for 9-hole match or 13 holes for

an 18-hole match, your score should be completed, as it would be
under those circumstances

(By taking your par plus your number of handicap strokes on each of
the un-played holes).

General Rules: In a match the game is played by holes. The side that
holes its ball in with fewer strokes wins the hole. In a handicap match,

the lower net score wins the hole.
The state of the match is expressed by the terms: so many “holes up”,

“all square” and so many
“to play”.

Halved Holes: a hole is halved if each side holes out in the same
number of net strokes.

Winner of Match; A match is won when one side leads by a number of
holes greater than the number remaining to be played.

Conceding Strokes: A player may concede his opponent’s next stroke
at any time, provided the opponent’s ball is at rest. The opponent is
considered to have holed out with his next stroke, and either player

may remove the ball. A concession may not be declined or withdrawn.

Ball Picked Up on the Green in Error: No penalty if player picking up
the ball believes she heard her opponent say the putt was conceded.
Ball is to be replaced – best estimate of the spot where it last resided –
and played from there. (Otherwise, loss of hole.)

Rules Violation: The penalty for a breach of a Rule in match play is
loss of hole, except when otherwise provided.

Questions/Disputes: If a question arises during the round, please call
the Pro Shop for an answer or the Head Pro’s cell as a last resort. If you

cannot get an immediate answer, a decision must be made regarding
the claim/dispute before moving on to the next hole or before

concluding the round (If the dispute arises on the last hole).

It doesn’t matter what level golfer you are, following the rules and practicing good
golf etiquette shows respect for fellow golfers and traditions of the game. Please

help make GBC the best by practicing the following:

Refrain from moving about/talking when a player is addressing or stroking the
ball.

Play ready golf.

Tee your ball within the markers, not in front of them and no further than 2 club
lengths behind.

Play the same ball throughout the hole.
Do not replace a damaged ball without the permission of your opponent.

Be certain players in front of you are out of range before hitting your ball.

If you are not keeping pace with the group ahead, be responsible and pick up the

pace.

Signal players behind you to play through when delayed or when you get a hole
behind the players in front of you.

Be certain you are playing the correct ball.

Repair all divots and rake bunkers, repair your and any other ball marks you see
on the green.

Help others find their ball (observe the 5 min rule).

Toss broken tees on granite yardage marker.

Telephones on the golf course should be emergency use only. Please turn your
ringer off. If you must take a call, pull away from other golfers and speak
quietly.

On the Green:
*Maintain extreme care with equipment, flagstick, etc.

. *Player furthest from pin hits/putts first. If in doubt ask another player.

*Mark your ball to avoid distracting other players who putt first.

*Be aware of where other balls lie on the green and try not to step on their line.

*Line up your putt while waiting for your turn

*The player’s ball that is closest to the pin should pull the flag and place it well out

of the line of where a player’s ball may come to rest

* The player who holes out first should pick up the flag, and be ready to replace it

after the last putt is holed.

*Repair any damaged areas around the cup after you finish putting.

24

• Be Ready to hit when it ‘s your turn.
1. Know the distance.
2. Have the appropriate club out/ready.
3. Practice swings completed.

• Know how far you hit each club. This helps you make quicker

decisions when you get to your ball.

• Hit & Sit – Hit the ball and do not put your club away. Get into
the cart with your cart mate and drive to the next ball. While
your cart mate is hitting, put your club away.

• If you are uncertain what club you will be using, take choices
with you to your ball.

• Limit yourself to one (1) practice swing; keep your pre-shot
routine short.

• Line up your putt while you wait for others to putt, without
disturbing them. Do not stand in back or in line with another
player’s line when putting.

• Keep up with the group in front of you.

• Pay attention when other players are hitting. Watch balls
carefully, especially ones that go astray, so they can be found
more easily and quickly.

• If there are any questions about a rule, ask the pro shop or
play two (2) balls from that point until holed out. After play it
can be decided which one was correct and will count.

• When sharing a cart, don’t wait until your cart mate hits and
then drive to your ball. Drive to your ball, if possible, and
return to pick up your cart mate.

• If you have played to your max, pick up and move on to the
next hole.
