THE
ORPHAN
SISTER

the
orphan sister.
This project is primarily inspired by the two movies, “Anne with an E”, an adaptation of Lucy
Maud Montgomery’s children’s classical novel of the 19th century, “Anne of Green Gabbles”, which
presents a story of an orphan girl who longs for love and acceptance in a society where patriarchy
takes place, and “Little Women”, a story of March Family having four daughters who all lead differ-
ent lives: one commits her life in matrimony; one wishes to be a writer; and one pursues her dreams.
This story allows us to discern not only the equality, but also the freedom of the women during that
time.
As I personally fancy this kind of movies that reflect society, I am captivated by the female roles in
the past presented. Therefore, I have displayed this work through the notion of women and children
along with the aspects of equality and freedom one can have in a society as to help people gain a
deeper understanding towards these matters more clearly.
