Ground Controls is a worldwide provider of Intelligent Border Control Solutions (IBC) that deliver proactive defense against evolving threats to countries’ borders. Utilizing innovative and advanced technologies to improve awareness of potential threats, our concepts deliver faster, yet more accurate, risk mitigation than traditional solutions. Ground Controls’ focus stems from the intelligence domain, specifically the niche of risk assessment, which, within the huge border control industry, provides an elementally different solution.
In order to enhance the traditional solutions with an added layer of intelligence, Ground Controls is composed of an interdisciplinary team of experts. Our in-house R&D team develops a wide array of intelligence systems that collect and analyze data for the purpose of risk assessment. Our team also includes ex-special unit advisors and immigration experts who had to cope with advanced identification systems, bringing their expertise and insights into the current existing gaps. To ensure we cover all the bases of the traditional Border Control Systems, we embed our solutions with Best of Breed in the Legacy Components (i.e. biometric systems, self- kiosks, e-gates, digital compliance and more).


THE CHALLENGE
The ever-growing effect of globalization throughout the last century has generated more cross-world movement than ever before, but this influx of global passengers has created a new set of challenges in the Border Control domain. While the 9/11 terror attack was a true game changer, there is no doubt that the COVID-19 Pandemic is yet another phenomenon that, in the short run, halted global fluidity, and in the long run is sure to change the travel industry landscape.
This is further proof that threats, and the need to mitigate them, will inevitably continue to be a critical aspect in the aviation domain. Whether to combat a novel threat, such as a sudden pandemic, or more traditional ones, like smuggling, human trafficking, terror or money laundering, governments will continue to have an interest in collecting and analyzing passenger data, in order to gain important insights and accurate risk assessments during crucial moments.

THE SOLUTION
Using an intelligence-driven approach changes the paradigm of traditional solutions as insights regarding potential threats are more advanced, pinpointed and accurate. This means that in addition to traditional border control systems (i.e. biometrics, e-visa), the IBC solution utilizes Intelligence systems and sensors. These mature systems are designed for the collection and analysis of huge amounts of data, to deliver more accurate risk assessment and, ultimately, predictive analysis.
Our approach essentially provides a pendulum that swings between a passenger’s digital and physical identity throughout the entire security chain process. Along the journey, traveler data will be collected throughout the three phases– predeparture, exit/entry process and destination. The derived Information will then be fed into a powerful big-data intelligence and investigation system that will “connect the dots” for automated advanced insights and predictive analysis. It is the culmination of all these events that will determine the information in a passenger’s Digital ID, and in turn, the risk assessment of that same passenger.
Being able to deliver quick high-quality service, while providing even more accurate threat assessments, ultimately saves both time and money. In other words, the inherent tension between providing comprehensive security, without stopping the flow of passenger traffic, are addressed by the same overarching IBC Solution.
