FACULTY AS RESOURCE PERSON

1. Dr.K.Lakshmi,, Professor and Dean in charge is being invited as a resource person and
delivered an invited talk on “Pharmaceutical Statistics Using Microsoft Excel” on 31st July
2020 between 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. About 70 B.Pharm students attended the session
and were benefited.

Inauguration Glimpses

The inaugural function of the first batch of Chettinad School of Physiotherapy was conducted
on 22nd August 2019 at Mini Auditorium. Dr. S. Sunder, Managing Director of Prem Centre for
Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Medicine inaugurated the Schools. The event was graced by
the Honourable Vice-Chancellor CARE, Prof. Dr. T. Balasubramanian, and The Dean, CHRI,
Dr.B.Santhakumar. Dr. Sunder highlighted the techniques and unveiled the secrets of
becoming a dynamic and much sought after physiotherapist.

As per the guidelines of UGC and University norms, Credit based system with core and elective
subject teaching patterns in the curriculum of our both UG and PG program are followed. We
are having a well equipped air-conditioned classroom, seminar hall, and demo room with the
internet-connected learning management system.

Mentor-Mentee System

Mentor mentee system for students with the one to one method of contacting each student
and giving space to them to express their difficulties during the learning process.

Value-Added Program

As per the recommendations from the UGC and the University regulation, apart from the
curriculum, we are making the students participate in a value-added program like Personality
enhancement program, Tai- Chi, Meditation, and basic concepts of exercise physiology &
fitness training in a periodical manner with the credit hours of 20 – 30 hours.

Clinical Skill Training

Guidance for students to do their clinical postings along with the theory classes
simultaneously. The undergraduate students are posted in the varying departments in our
Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute as a clinical observer from the 3rd semester onwards
and the 1st semester onwards for the postgraduate students.

Swayam Portal

Students enrolled in short-term courses from the Swayam portal to enhance the knowledge
and multi-talented skills for the current professional value.

RESEARCH ANDORIENTATION

Also the vertical orientation of education, we are encouraging the horizontal orientation of
education by following the interdisciplinary research and learning methods to the students.

EXISTING RESEARCH PROJECTS BY THE STUDENTS

The research scholars are enrolled in the varying research projects related to the
physiotherapy intervention in the cancer subject, women’s health-related problem, renal
rehabilitation, and sports injuries subject respectively.

EXISTING RESEARCH PROJECTS BY THE FACULTY

Currently, Research project:
Sports injury and training strategy with the multi-modal exercise protocol.

FDP

Conducted faculty development program in the recent updates of Physiotherapy techniques
and Teaching Pedagogy.

EXTENSION/OUTREACHED ACTIVITIES

Outreached activities are carried out and our student team visited the rural health center near
Ponjeri to gain clinical knowledge about patient evaluation and intervention methods.

Students participated in many UGC recommended quiz competitions on particular events/days
to know about the awareness of the program like AIDS awareness quiz competition, National
Constitution Day quiz competition, etc.

Dr. P. Senthil - Faculty Outreach – Invited Guest lecturer to School of Electronics Engineering,
VIT, Vellore campus on 18/10/2019 and presented on “Challenges faced in Geriatric
rehabilitation.” And “Application of Anatomy and Physiology in Human Engineering.”

We have conducted many seminars related the applied anatomy, psychological aspects, and
research-oriented. Workshops like communication skills, Phonology, etc have been conducted
in a periodical manner.

We also conducted National Girl Child day, Gender equality and gender champion’s awareness
program, International Yoga Day, World Physiotherapy Day.
