THE KING'S DECISION

Once upon a time, there was a peaceful kingdom
called Artistic, ruled by King Sam.
Although everyone in the kingdom
loved King Sam, he was not happy.
He and Queen Sara did not have children.
King Sam needed an heir to his throne.

Suatu ketika dahulu, ada sebuah kerajaan yang damai bernama Artistic,
diperintah oleh Raja Sam. Meskipun semua orang di kerajaan itu
menyayangi Raja Sam, namun baginda tidak bahagia.
Raja Sam dan Permaisuri Sara tidak mempunyai cahaya mata.
Raja Sam memerlukan seorang pewaris takhtanya.

One day, he had a brilliant idea. “I shall use art to
find my heir.”
A message went out saying whoever wished to be
the next king should come
to the palace. King Sam announced, “Whoever
wants to be the next king
must draw the most beautiful portrait of me.”
Since John loved painting, he decided to give it a
try.

Pada suatu hari, baginda mempunyai idea yang bernas.
"Beta akan menggunakan seni untuk mencari seorang pewaris takhta."
Satu titah dikeluarkan mengatakan bahawa sesiapa yang ingin menjadi
raja berikutnya harus datang ke istana. Raja Sam bertitah, "Siapapun
yang ingin menjadi raja yang berikutnya harus melukis potret beta
yang paling indah." Oleh kerana John gemar melukis, dia memutuskan
untuk mencubanya.

The day finally came to choose the new king.
John saw the other villagers holding beautiful
portraits of the king. He was afraid King Sam
would be angry because he came with just a
mirror. The King finally arrived. King Sam
walked around slowly looking at all the
portraits, one by one.

Akhirnya, hari untuk memilih raja yang baru pun tiba.
John melihat penduduk kampung lain memegang potret-potret baginda yang
cantik. Dia takut Raja Sam akan marah kerana dia datang hanya dengan sebuah
cermin. Raja akhirnya tiba.
Baginda berjalan perlahan-lahan sambil melihat semua potret, satu persatu.

King Sam came to John.
He saw him holding a mirror.
John said, “I was sure I could draw the most
beautiful portrait, Your Majesty but nothing
that I drew was perfect.
So today, I brought you a golden mirror.”

Raja Sam menghampiri John. Baginda melihat dia sedang
memegang sebuah cermin. John berkata, “Patik yakin patik dapat
melukis potret yang tercantik, Yang Mulia tetapi tidak ada potret
yang dihasilkan kelihatan sempurna. Maka hari ini, patik
membawakan tuanku sebuah cermin emas."

King Sam looked into the mirror. He
was delighted with the clever idea.
On that day, King Sam proclaimed
John as the next King.

Raja Sam melihat cermin itu.
Baginda berasa gembira dengan idea
bijak itu. Pada hari itu, Raja Sam
mengisytiharkan John sebagai raja
berikutnya.
