The Five Pillars of Faith

The Five Pillars of Faith

The Five Pillars of Faith

1:Faith/Fe/Shahadah

A Muslim once said, “There is no God but God, and
Muhammad is the messenger of God.” Muslims
believe that Allah created the whole universe.
Shahadah is also known as Faith. Muslims also
accept the idea of an unseen world of angels and
other beings. Shahadah affirms monotheism.
Which means that you only believe in one God.
Muhammad sent out a message from God to the
world, which is God’s final word to humankind.
Shahadah means is for people to not only believe
in God, but to also pledge their submission to him.

2:Prayer/Rezo/Salat

Salat is the second Pillar of faith. It especially made
a huge impact in life. Muslims prayed 5 times a day.
They prayed at dawn, noon, midday, sunset and
after nightfall. A muezzin, chants the call to prayer
from the tall minaret of the mosque. Every mosque
have fountains where some worshipers wash their
hands, face, arms, and feet. The imam’s begins
prayer cycles by proclaiming “Allahu akbar!” which
means God is most great. Even though you have to
pray 5 times a day, you can worship anywhere
while you are at it.

3:Charity/Caridad/Zakat

The third pillar is Charity which made a difference in
Muslims lives. The third pillar also thought muslims
to be considerate and thoughtful towards those in
need. The word Zakat, another word for charity,
means purification. This practice is still a basic part
of Islam. They believe that wealth becomes pure by
giving it away and sharing wealth helps control
greed. Zakat is similar charity in other beliefs. For
example, the Jews and Christian ask for donations
from other people. Zakat covers a lot for the poor
including shelter, clothing, food and beverages.

4:Fasting/Ayuno/Siyam

The fourth pillar, fasting, changed a lot for
Muslims lives. For example, it thought them
self-control and which they realize what it is like
to be poor and hungry. Whenever they fast, they
always had to do it in the ninth month of the
Islamic Calendar, Ramadan. You can only veto
the event if you are a pregnant woman, travelers,
the sick, the elderly, or you are a young child.
During this month, it encourages generosity,
equality, and charity within their community. Also,
in this month, it was the time when god revealed
his first message to Muhammad.

5:Pilgramage/Peregrinaye/Haji

During the twelfth month , millions of believers from
all over the world come together at makkah. Every
adult Muslim are expected to do that once during
their life. Bringing Muslims from many cultures
together, the hajj promotes fellowship and equality.
Pilgrims follow what Muslims believe about the
footsteps of Abraham and Muhammad. When they
arrive, Muslims yell out,”Here I am O God, at thy
commands!”
