In this beautiful world, everyone is sure to have the most
beautiful memories that they cannot forget easily. What is the
meaning of memory? Memory is a mental process that contains the
encoding, storage, and retrieval of information and knowledge that
are all centered in the brain. For me, memory is defined as something
we see or we feel in the past. Everything that happen in our life will
become memories. No matter it will be bad or best, it still will be
memories. I have too many bad and best memories. For bad memories,
I tried to forget them. But it is not easy for me to forget about it.
Why? Because it is happened for a reason. Bad things happened in
our life to make us became stronger. Why must we need to recall
about bad memories if we can think about the best memories? My
memories mean a lot to me, and I hold them close to my heart So, I
want to share my favorites childhood memories.

Once upon a time, my family and I went to our hometown for 3
days 2 nights. My village is located at Bentong, Pahang. My village is
nearby to the border of Negeri Sembilan, but it is far inland. The time
taken to arrive in my village from my house which is located at
Mantin, Negeri Sembilan is only about 2 hours. To be honest, my
village is very inland because the journey to enter the village only has
a road and is surrounded by rubber trees and oil palm trees. After
half an hour of entering the village area, we will see the settlement
where the mosque, grocery store and the houses of the villagers are
located. In my opinion, playing at the village is more fun because we
are away from traffic jams and feel safer.

Activities on the first day, we looked for coconut shells in the
yard of our grandparent’s house. There are a lot of coconut shells
there because our grandmother loves to cook coconut milk-based
dishes, so a lot of coconut is used. The coconut shell is used as a pot
or pan. Then, we use sand as the main ingredient of cooking. While
West Indian Jasmine flowers as a decorative material after the sand
is heated. We also use coconut fiber and matches as fuel. Parents
did not forbid us to play with fire because we played carefully. First
of all, we placed two bricks side by side as a base to balance the
coconut shell but there was still space between the two to place the
coconut fiber used as fuel when burned with a match. Roasted
coconut fiber will produce a fragrant aroma. It’s also flammable so
we don’t have to light a match too many times.

On the second day, my cousin and I fought a game of congkak.
The congkak used belonged to our aunt. As usual, we put 7 marbles
in each hole. At the start of the game, we played simultaneously and
continued the game until one of the players placed a marble in an
empty hole causing him to have to stop playing. After that, we will
play in turns. While we were playing there was a kitten that jumped
on the congkak and caused all the marbles to be scattered on the
floor. We had to pause for a moment and re-collect the marbles that
had run away from its position. However, the marbles collected were
not enough. We kept the game going even in the face of insufficient
marbles. After a few rounds of running, I had won the game. I was
awarded ten chocolate coins on top of the win. Since we played
together, we shared those chocolates together.

The activity on the last day I was in the village was we all had a
picnic on the river in the backyard of my grandparent’s house. My
mother and my aunt prepared various dishes such as bread, drinking
water, fried rice, fried chicken and so on. The journey from the
house to the river only took 10 minutes on foot but we had to be
careful for fear of poisonous animals such as snakes and centipedes.
When we arrived at the river, I continued to run to the wooden
bridge and continued to plunge into the water. My mom scolded me
for jumping because she was worried there were spikes in the river.
I just apologized because I felt too excited to be able to play with
water. We played in the water while eating the food provided. In the
unconscious, it's been almost 5 hours we showered. Our fingers were
also shrunk. My mom called us up because she wanted us to get ready
to go home. 3 days spent with cousins was very meaningful and fun. I
will never forget this experience because “Some memories are
unforgettable, remaining ever vivid and heartwarming!”
