SARDEK P. LOVE’S BIO
The power to deliver, the charisma to inspire – that is what audiences
around the world get when attending an event with Sardek Love. Few
people create the types of thought provoking and highly engaging

proven tips, tools, and strategies based on the latest research.
As President and Founder of Infinity Consulting and Training Solutions, Sardek has worked in
24 countries inspiring, developing, and educating managers and leaders in Fortune 100
companies, high tech organizations, local / state / federal government agencies, and global

in the Libyan desert in the scorching heat of summer to traveling to the incredibly lush and
extremely remote jungles of Indonesia to revitalizing a workforce in war torn villages of West
Africa, his real-world experiences serve as the foundation of his powerfully captivating stories
from which he brings his sessions to life.
His contributions as a leader are extensive and ongoing. He is a former President of the Virginia
Tech College of Human Sciences Alumni Association and a past President of two different
ASTD chapters. As a two time member of the prestigious ATD National Advisors for Chapters
(NAC), he and his fellow NAC were awarded the 2003 Staff Partnership Award by Tony
Bingham, ASTD’s CEO. Additionally, Mr. Bingham appointed Sardek Chair of the 2010 ATD
Chapter Leaders Conference Program Advisory Committee. He currently serves as a member of
the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) Graduate Instructional Systems
Development Board, and as a noted global expert in leadership, training, and consulting, he

who facilitates ATD’s Master TrainerTM designation course.
In February early 2013, Sardek became a certified
coach, speaker, and trainer with the prestigious John
Maxwell Team led by the best-selling author and
world renowned leadership guru John Maxwell.
When he is not traveling the world developing and inspiring leaders, Sardek can be found
spending time with his family and cheering on his beloved Virginia Tech Hokies.

ACTIVITY: Rock Paper Scissors Grand
Championship
THE OBJECTIVE
Add fun and a little competition to any meeting by playing the classic game of Rock Paper Scissors.
In this variation, use the game as the basis for a championship where people form pairs and compete
with one another. The winners of each round will then compete until a champion is determined. This
is a great way to open a meeting, add some fun after a break or lunch, and foster teamwork.
Group Size: Time Required:
12 or more 15 minutes (on average)
Materials Required: Prior Set Up:
None None
OVERVIEW Rock Paper Scissors is a hand game played
between two people where each player
simultaneously forms one of three shapes
with their hand. The shapes are:
• Rock – a fist
• Paper – a flat hand with the palm
down
• Scissors – a fist with the index and
middle fingers forming a “v”
The game has 3 possible outcomes other than Image courtesy of Enzoklop (Own work)

• Tell people to get up and go stand next to a partner, preferably someone
they don’t know.
• Explain the rules of the game
o The facilitator can demonstrate the hand motions with a
participant.
o Alternatively (if you have internet access) show how the game
works using the NY Times website.
Step 2
Explain the process for determining a Rock Paper Scissors Grand Champion
• Each pair plays the game.
• The winner then finds another winner to compete against in the next
round.
• The loser will then become his/her winner’s main cheerleader.
• When the next round begins, the winners compete with the previous
round losers cheering on the person who beat them.
• Repeat the process until 4 semi-finalists are determined.
Step 3
• Have the 4 semi-finalists come to the front of the room.
• Have each raise their hand so that their cheerleaders can cheer them on.
• Have the semi-finalist compete to identify the 2 finalists.
• Then do the grand championship and (if applicable) give a prize to the
winner.
DEBRIEFING There is not much to debrief as this is more of an energizer type activity.
THE EXERCISE However, you can use this to cover topics such as teamwork and / or creating
healthy competitive cultures / environments. The questions can vary, and a skilled
facilitator will be able to debrief the activity based on the topic s/he chooses.
