คอื ประโยคเงอื่ นไข ประกอบดว้ ยประโยคยอ่ ย สองประโยค
ทแี่ สดงหรือกำหนดเงอ่ื นไข หรอื ประโยคที่มีกำรคำดคะเนวำ่ ถำ้ มี
เหตุกำรณอ์ ย่ำงหนง่ึ เกิดขึน้ ก็จะมอี ีกเหตกุ ำรณห์ น่ึงตำมมำ ใน
ประโยคเงื่อนไข (If-Clause) จะแบ่งออกเปน็ 2 ส่วน ดงั นี้

เป็นไปไดท้ ป่ี ระโยคเงื่อนไขในแต่ละสว่ นจะพูดถงึ
ช่วงเวลำที่แตกต่ำงกัน สง่ ผลให้เกดิ ประโยค "เง่ือนไขแบบ
ผสม" โดยประโยคเง่อื นไขแบบผสมมี 2 แบบ ได้แก่
ผลในปจั จบุ นั ทเ่ี กดิ จำกเงอ่ื นไขในอดตี
รปู แบบ

ในประโยคเงอ่ื นไขแบบผสมแบบนี้ If clause จะใช้
Past perfect และ Main Clause จะใช้ S. + would +
Infinitive verb

ในประโยคเง่ือนไขแบบผสมแบบน้ี If clause จะใช้ Past perfect
และ Main Clauseจะใช้ S. + would + Infinitive verb

ประโยคเง่อื นไขแบบผสมจะใช้เพอ่ื บอกใหท้ รำบเกย่ี วกบั เงอ่ื นไขท่ีไม่

เป็นจรงิ ในอดตี และผลของมนั อำจจะยงั คงอยมู่ ำจนถงึ ปัจจบุ นั บอกให้
ทรำบถงึ ส่งิ ท่ตี รงกนั ข้ำมกบั ควำมเปน็ จริงทั้งในอดตี และในปจั จบุ ัน ใน
ประโยคเง่อื นไขแบบผสมน้ี เวลำใน if clause จะเป็นอดตี และเวลำใน
main clause จะเปน็ เวลำปัจจบุ ัน

ตัวอยำ่ งเชน่
If I had worked harder at school, I would have a better job now.
If I had studied, I would have my driving license.

นอกจำกนี้ ใน Main Clause ของประโยคเงือ่ นไขแบบผสม
สำมำรถใช้ Modals Verb แทนกำรใช้ "would" ไดอ้ ีกดว้ ยเพอ่ื บอก
ระดบั ควำมแน่นอน กำรอนุญำต หรือเพือ่ แนะนำใหท้ รำบว่ำผลที่เกดิ ขนึ้
จะเป็นอย่ำงไร

If you had crashed the car, you might be in trouble.
I could be a millionaire now if I had invested in ABC Plumbing.

ในประโยคเงอ่ื นไขแบบผสมแบบนี้ If clause จะใช้ Past Simple
และ Main Clause จะใช้ S. + would have+ Verb 3

ประโยคเงื่อนไขแบบผสมจะใชเ้ พอ่ื บอกให้ทรำบเกย่ี วกบั

สถำนกำรณท์ ่ีไม่เปน็ จรงิ ในปัจจบุ ันและผลที่อำจจะเกดิ ข้นึ ได้ในอดตี (แต่
ไม่เป็นควำมจรงิ ) ในประโยคเงื่อนไขแบบผสมนี้ เวลำใน if clause จะ
เวลำปจั จบุ นั หรอื ตลอดเวลำ และเวลำใน main clause จะเปน็ เวลำอดตี
ก่อนหนำ้ นี้ ตัวอย่ำงเชน่ "If I wasn't afraid of spiders" ซ่ึงตรงกันขำ้ ม
กบั ควำมจรงิ ในปัจจุบัน เพรำะในควำมเปน็ จรงิ แล้วตอนนฉี้ ันกลวั แมงมมุ
"I would have picked it up" ซ่งึ ตรงกันขำ้ มกบั ควำมเป็นจรงิ ในอดีต
เพรำะฉนั ไมไ่ ด้จบั แมงมุมตัวนั้นขน้ึ มำ

If she wasn't afraid of flying, she wouldn't have travelled by boat.
I'd have been able to translate the letter if my Italian was better.
If I was a good cook, I'd have invited them to lunch.

หลัง Unless เปน็ ประโยคเงอ่ื นไข และอกี ประโยคคอื ผลลพั ธ์
Ex. I will buy cosmetics unless I don’t have 5,000 baht.

ฉนั จะซอื้ เครื่องสำอำง เวน้ แต่ว่ำฉนั ไมม่ เี งินถงึ 5,000
บำท (มีไม่ถงึ ก็ไม่ซอ้ื นนั่ เอง)

Ex. Unless he came, I would go.
ถำ้ เขำไม่มำ ฉันก็จะไป (กถ็ ำ้ ไมม่ ีเธอ ฉนั ก็ไม่อยำกอยู่)

Ex. We will arrive on time unless the bus is late.
