owned and cared for by Animal Control Officer Roz Nen-

Boy Scout May 2022
Troop 230 Update
BSA Troop 230 continues to work hard and learn.
The Troop completed Snow Sports, Orienteering and Col-
lections Merit Badges, while also finishing a variety of rank
requirements and skills They also worked on fine tuning
camping exercises such as knots and fire building. Further,
they participated in a variety of team building challenges
and activities strengthening their cooperation skills.
The Troop completed a 5 hour hike at White Memorial in
Litchfield, CT. There, they practiced using a map and com-
pass while enjoying the scenery and camaraderie.
The Troop also hosted Mayor Dunn who explained the
rights and obligations of a U.S. citizen.
Additionally, the Troop has been busy serving the Town of
Wolcott. It served as Color Guard at Wolcott’s Back the
Blue Ceremony on the Town Green in honor of Child
Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month. The Troop at-
tended Cub Scout 230’s annual Blue and Gold ceremony
to help welcome 3 new scouts to cross over into BSA Troop
230. Coming up, the scouts will be assisting the Friends of
the Library with its annual spring clean up.
Finally, Troop 230 joined Troop 140 from Watertown on a
weekend camping trip at Fort Adams State Park in
Newport, RI. The scouts visited such historic sites as
Purgatory Chasm and the Cliff Hike.
NEW! BSA Troop 230 is now collecting bottles and cans
at 2 locations. Drop off anytime at 83 Allentown Road
(by the garage) in Wolcott OR 200 Chase River Road in
Waterbury. Hours for Waterbury are Wednesdays/Thurs-
days 1-4p.m. and Saturdays 11-2p.m. Just tell them the
