Bid Bell DeskAlerts Admin Document
The URL that you use to create and send alerts is: http://zmgdeskalerts01/DeskAlerts
Please bookmark this and/or add it as a shortcut to your desktop by copying the link, right-clicking on
your desktop, select New – Shortcut, and paste the link.
Login to the site using your login credentials provided. I strongly recommend changing your password to
something you’ll remember.
You will see the Dashboard first – you can customize this page to show you different charts and
information about the alerts sent out.
Click on the Create Ticker link (NOTE: A ticker is the format that we will be using for these Bid Bell
Notifications, do not use the Desktop Alerts.
Select the Breaking Bid News template from the ‘Message Templates’ dropdown.
This will populate the template that we are using. You can replace content in the body with your alert.
Keep your alert short, to the point and be sure to thank those key people involved. Be sure it is proof
read and contains all the important information to be clear and understandable.
** Be sure to only send out alerts that your VP has agreed to.
There are several settings you can select when setting up your message – you should be able to leave
them as-is. The only thing you should select is in the Message Channels section, select the SMS Alert box
to send this alert to our list of Miller cell phones. If the alert is only for people who have computers, like
if it’s a targeted message just to a specific office or something, don’t check this.
Click the Save and next > button.
Most often you will just select Broadcast as the Alert type. Selecting this will send the message to
everyone who has a Miller computer and who has the DeskAlerts client
installed.
Note: You can tell if a computer has the DeskAlerts client installed by looking
in the System Tray for the green D as seen to the right.
When you’re ready, click the Send button to send your alert out.
Congratulations on your bid-win!
