PARSON TO PERSON
F “THERE'S HOPE BECAUSE CHRIST CAME"
“Fle was chosen before the creation of the world, but was
revealed in these last times for your sake. Through Him
j
| you believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and
| glorified Him, and so your faith and hope are in God.” (1
Peter 1:20-21)
a—_ ih “ C;| hristmas is not just an event that happened in the
past that Christians remember and celebrate every

XX vw~i planned before the foundation of the world. God knew His
plan and Christ’s role from eternity to eternity.

\ This is man’s greatest hope. The coming of Jesus Christ is a
necessary work of God to reconnect people to God. “For God
: so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have
\ eternal life.” (John 3:16)
| In this dark and sinful world, filled with sin and sinfulness,
the coming of the Messiah gives hope. God has done
everything, through the coming of Christ, so that people
might put their faith and hope in God. “... so your faith and
hope are in God.” (1 Peter 1:21)

and all else who need the saving power of God.

Bishop Noel Pantoja / December 30, 2018 / Joshua 3:1-13
INTRODUCTION:
As we transition from 2018 to 2019 - like the Israelites crossing over the flooded Jordan river
theirto the Promised Land - we can learn important lessons from journey of faith and
experience the powerful move of God in their transition. Likewise, we all face transitions in
life that are, for the most part, bittersweet experiences. It can be freedom and fear all at the
our wholesame time. It is scary to go from trusting our own resources and ourselves
lives, to
trusting God for the rest of our lives.

UPCOMING EVENTS ABOUT SBCF
ROOTED aSubic Bay Community of Faith started in the summer of 2010 when vision
ON BREAK UNTIL 2019 of church planting in Subic Bay Freeport Zone was laid in the hearts of
EADIES-LINK John Phillip and Mei Chua Chiaco, On Sepiember 25, 2010, thirty-five
people met for the first worship service with Rev. Noel Pantoja, assisted by
ON BREAK UNTIL 2019 his loving wife Jenny Pantoja serving as the Lead Paster/Church Planter of
YOUTH MIRED the team. A year later, Rev. Maurice Adam Rivera was called to continue
the spiritual leadership of SBCF.
ON BREAK UNTIL 2019
While the church over the years continued to participate in numerous
community-based ministries such as outreaches, medical missions,
church planting, fellowship groups, ministering to the ministers, and other
similar activities, the Lord steered the leadership of His Church to prioritize
discipleship and focus on the internal growth of those called te SBCF.
Through His leading and voice, the mission of SBCF became clear: to
Develop Dynamic Disciples by leading others to cultivate their inner life
through Christ Jesus.
Today, SBCF continues to champion the call to Christian authenticity by
Saviorprioritizing our own relationship with our Lord and
Jesus Christ. We
encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to come and experience
the joy and restediness only Christ can bring. Worship with us, and come as
you are! Welcome to the SBCF family!
LIKE JESUS: EMBRACING THE MANDATE
Our MISSION as followers of Jesus Christ is to make disciples of all nations by obeying the Great Commission. Our
MANDATE is to make God the highest priority in our lives by obeying the Great Commandment, “Love the Lord your
God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” (Matt. 22:37)
It is not uncommon that we get So excited to accomplish our mission that we tend to neglect God's mandate for us.
Oftentimes, we focus on ourdoing and notin ourbeing, giving more importance on the external and not the internal.
a whatweThis leads us to live life of trying to achieve believe God wants us to achieve, and miss completely God's
wetrue purpose and intention for us... which is to find peace and restedness in Him. This is why must never lose sight
of the mandate when doing God's mission. The mandate must always precede the mission.
We have created 10 sermons from select parables of Christ in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke where Jesus
emphasized the importance of setting our hearts on what matters most. He used earthly stories with timeless truths
about the kingdom of God and highlighted the importance of our relationship with Him. This sermon series will keep
us on course to finding our inner compass calibrated towards Him, and guiding us to be more LIKE JESUS.
