INAUGURAL FUTURE
OF ENERGY SYMPOSIUM

#FutureOfEnergySA

Paula Gold-Williams

President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO)—
CPS Energy
I am excited that you have accepted my personal invitation to participate in
our Inaugural Future of Energy Symposium! CPS Energy has had the honor to
serve our community for going on 157 years and in 2017, we will celebrate our
75th year of direct ownership by the City of San Antonio.
Several decades ago, we transitioned from being a 100% gas-generation
company to being a highly diversified energy company. Today, we are
experienced energy experts who know how to efficiently generate, transmit,
and distribute reliable energy to businesses and homes, 24/7 - 365 days a year.
Even so, we are beginning a new journey during a time of tremendous
changes in our industry. These changes include everything from exciting
shifts in technology and talent to escalating customer demands. Additionally,
we are continuing to sense uncertainty in our legislative and regulatory
environments. The propensity for disruption rises everyday.

1

‘‘ Our foundation is ‘‘
anchored at putting
People First...

To get in front of these pressures, we are following a multi-faceted solution
set. Our foundation is anchored at putting People First, while we refocus our
everyday efforts on the following Enterprise Improvement Initiatives (EII):
• Customers, including our call center and other new communication channels
• Economic Development, in support of growing our community
• New products & services, in both our wholesale and gas businesses
• Installing a new automated metering infrastructure system to support

San Antonio’s Smart City’s goals
• Integrated Security, including data centers optimization, under the

pillars of physical assets and cyber controls
Today, you will hear from CPS Energy’s top leaders, key industry stakeholders and
board members about how your long-term, energy company is maneuvering for
our customers, community and employees through the changing landscape.
