Officers & Directors A Message from Jim...

May 2017 – April 2018 Hello Members of the Sangamo Club!
I hope this note finds all of you and your families in the midst of a great summer! We have a number
Sangamo Club of fun events that are planned for your enjoyment. Please let us know if there is anything of
Board of Directors particular interest to you that we should be considering. We are hoping to host a couple fun parties
that will involve live entertainment, namely the 70’s era event, which we had initially talked about
President, Leslie Sgro having in July. After feedback from a number of members it was deemed that October is better suited
Vice President, Keith Sias for this event. We are also looking at hosting a Boot Scoot Country Western on October 6. Please offer
Secretary, J. Chistopher Smith your feedback on the timing for these events! In the meantime, September 21 kicks off the Route 66
Treasurer, John Myers, CPA Cruise weekend. We are planning to be in the parking lot grilling brats, burgers and chicken, and
we will have a bar and music too! This can be a great starting point for our members that are car
Past President, enthusiasts. Enjoy some refreshments at the Sangamo Club and check out all of the classic cars! I look
J. Randall Cox forward to the weekend and hope that you will mark it on your calendar.
Please let us know if there is a prospective member that we should reach out to or if a friend or
Officers & Directors colleague of yours is preparing to host an event or recently engaged and looking for a venue. You
of the Board can sponsor them to have their event at the Sangamo Club! We have beautiful banquet rooms to host
meetings, receptions, lunches or dinners. If a friend is not yet a member please have them contact
Class of 2018 me so that we can assist with their planning. If you are planning to travel outside of the Springfield
Charles Pell area this summer, please review the reciprocal list on the website of Club to visit or stay out on your
Dr. Diane Rutledge travels. The reciprocal aspect of your Club membership is a great benefit to enjoy.
Leslie Sgro Pardon our Dust! During the July shutdown (July 1-9) the Grille Room floor will be refinished and
Class of 2019 re-stained, it will look like new after it is completed! In addition, the stairwell from the main floor
John Myers, CPA to the second floor will have the wall paper redone. The Presidents Room will have a wall repaired,
Lauren Nevius along with an entry wall into the Dining Room. There will be some minor repairs throughout the
Keith Sias Clubhouse and Kitchen and carpet cleaning that will take place along with a couple housekeeping
Class of 2020 items.
Ryan Hillestad We are still accepting individuals that are interested in joining our Art Committee. Anyone with
Emily Rabin interest please send me an email. Please remember to participate in the Did You Know portion of our
Josh Sharp Syllabus. There are a lot of interesting stories involving the Sangamo Club that many of us would love
to hear about! Please send your story in, and we will include it in an upcoming issue of the Syllabus.
Every gathering at the Sangamo Club is an occasion! During the summer months Club members and
their guests may wear shorts and sandals in the Grille Room and on the Outdoor Patio!
Our goal is for you to refer to the Sangamo Club as one of your favorite places!

See you at the Club,
