Nowadays, art education and courses are blooming rapidly in both public and privates institutions in Malaysia. This scenario reflects the needs and interests in art and design in the country’s development indeed. Faculty of Art & Design or fondly known as AD, Universiti Teknologi MARA, which founded in 1967, has resulted in many great achievements to the university and the country through various academic and artistic activities. The main focus of this faculty is to prioritize excellence in teaching and learning, encouraging research as well as nurturing human capital aligned with UiTM’s requirements, as a pioneer in the field of art and design in this country.
The faculty offers various programs ranging from diploma to PhD, producing graduates who are viable to the diverse market sectors. Hence, skilled human resources who are assets to the faculty play a big role in nurturing competence, knowledgeable, integrity and excellent personality in each student.
AD always strive to achieve the vision in enlisting UiTM as a world-class university. Apart from emphasizing on the quantity and quality aspects in terms of academic and individual potential, the faculty also aims to empower the knowledge dimension towards entrepreneurial culture which may provide high returns as well as increasing social mobility in society.
Today, AD is always on the track to be the world-class art reference centre with a more proactive, creative and innovative approaches, parallel to the status of a developed nation. Therefore, various strategies are designed to strengthen and enhance the capabilities of the faculty in the spectrum of religion, nation and country, as a whole.

FASHION DESIGN

Fashion is not just about dresses and catwalk shows, it also offers
vast opportunities in entrepreneurship and lifestyle industry.

DIPLOMA IN ART AND DESIGN (FASHION DESIGN)

AD 116 | 5 SEMESTER

This programme enables students to develop skills in fashion
design, pattern making, garment making and embroidery. Students
will develop their own sense of design and style for technical
and production processes, which are supported by theoretical
knowledge, which encourages the combination of creativity and
technical know-how.

BACHELOR IN FASHION DESIGN (HONORS)

AD 246 | 6 SEMESTER

This Bachelor programme emphasises broad-based training
in creativity and design, alongside technical and production
processes, which are supported by theoretical knowledge to
encourage creativity and innovation. Graduates are prepared
to participate in related areas of fashion and costume design,
entrepreneurship and clothing industries



GRAPHIC DESIGN AND MEDIA DIGITAL

From gum wrappers to billboards, graphic design plays the art
of visual communication. It is a proffession that uses design
elements, as typography and images, to convey information or to
make an impact using various digital mediums.

DIPLOMA IN ART AND DESIGN (GRAPHIC DESIGN & DIGITAL MEDIA)

AD 111 | 5 SEMESTER

The programme focuses on technical knowledge and practical
skills in graphic topics, such as imaging (photographic, graphic
design and illustration), typography (the style, size and
arrangement of letters), textures, lines and colours. It also focuses
on comprehensive lectures and design software training on the
practical skills in graphic design.

BACHELOR IN GRAPHIC DESIGN (HONORS)

AD 241 | 6 SEMESTER

This programme covers many facets of graphic design and
communication. It is divided into 4 different majors - Corporate
Identity, Advertising, Illustration and Multimedia. The programme
will concentrate on the creative and technical approaches of
producing designs that can communicate effectively without
neglecting the facts and theories of art, design and communication.



INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

A multi-disciplinary field that includes automotive design,
furniture design, product design and many other field design
which concerning the aesthetics,ergonomics, and usability of a
product.

DIPLOMA IN ART AND DESIGN (INDUSTRIAL DESIGN)

AD 114 | 5 SEMESTER

This programme prepares students to be effective industrial
designers through a sound foundation in design fundamentals.
They are trained to provide total design solutions that harmonise
high-quality aesthetics, technology, ergonomics, efficient user
interface, as well as good market consideration.

BACHELOR IN INDUSTRIAL DESIGN (HONORS)

AD 244 | 6 SEMESTER

This programme mainly focuses on methods of problem analysis,
ideation, creativity, visualisation, presentation and communication.
Students will be exposed to problem-solving techniques and
critical thinking, manual dexterity, technical drawing skills, self
discipline, conceptual vision, understanding and knowledge of
engineering principles, human factors/ ergonomics, aesthetics,
industrial materials and processes, as well as digital computer-
aided design.



VISUAL CULTURE

Covering from culture studies art history, critical theory philisophy
and anthtopolohy, this area of discipline bring forth the theoretical
aspects in art and design.

BACHELOR IN VISUAL CULTURE (HONORS)

AD 232 | 6 SEMESTER
This program will be solely on theories in art and design dealing
mostly on the study of visual images and cultural management.



PRINTING TECHNOLOGY

Printing technology encompasses the arena of industrial process
of publication of all sorts, which is often large scaled, and is an
essential part in publishing and transaction printing.

DIPLOMA IN ART AND DESIGN (PRINTING TECHNOLOGY)

AD 120 | 5 SEMESTER

This programme emphasises on management and administration
skills, besides current aspects of printing technology. It includes
commercial printing, packaging, publishing, marketing, distribution
and technology development.

BACHELOR (HONS) IN ART & DESIGN (PRINTING TECHNOLOGY)

AD 230 | 6 SEMESTER

ThisBachelorprogrammeemphasisesoncombiningthemanagerial,
administrative and technological aspects of modern printing
with creative application on other substrates, such as paper, tin,
aluminium, plastic, glass and fabric. These include printing in the
field of advertising, publishing, packaging, distributing, marketing
and developing technologies.



TEXTILE DESIGN

Textile is a creative process that deals with cloth-related field
with a deep understanding of the properties of fiber, yarn and
dyes.

DIPLOMA IN ART AND DESIGN (TEXTILE)

AD 112 | 5 SEMESTER

The curriculum covers technical knowledge and practical skills
in textile design, which consists of 3 disciplines (weaving, printed
textile and batik/resist). This programme also emphasises on
comprehensive textile studio and textile/ fashion design software,
as well as training on practical skills relevant to the needs of the
industry.

BACHELOR IN TEXTILE DESIGN (HONORS)

AD 242 | 6 SEMESTER

This programme is divided into 3 different disciplines - Fibre
(Art & Weaving), Printed Textile and Batik/ Resist. The course
concentrates on the creative and technical approaches of
producing those 3 disciplines in textile design, which synchronises
effectively, without neglecting the facts and theories of art, design
and communication.



CREATIVE PHOTOMEDIA

Photography may be used as a medium to gaenerate crative ideas.
It could be an effective communication tools to convey messages
or information of any particular purpose.

DIPLOMA IN PHOTOGRAPHY AND CREATIVE IMAGING

AD 117 | 5 SEMESTER

This programme was developed to expose students to conventional
features of photography, from past to present, as well as the
contemporary usage of digital means of desktop publishing.
Students will be exposed to the essence of photography through
comprehensive fundamental training in technical aspects in order
to produce high-quality imagery.

BACHELOR IN CREATIVE PHTOMEDIA (HONORS)

AD 247 | 6 SEMESTER

Bachelor in Creative Photomedia (Honors) prepares students
to explore the world of professional photographic. Through
advance technique courses to the critical thinking process, as
well as visual literacy in evaluating and understanding images and
their implementation. The program equip students aesthetically,
technically, professionally for the future in photography.



CONTEMPORARY METAL DESIGN

It is a creative area in design technology that specialiazed in metal material,
concerning the areas of jewelry and metal-based product making.

DIPLOMA IN ART AND DESIGN (FINE METAL)

AD 113 | 5 SEMESTER

This programme will expose students to several aspects of study, such as workshop
practice, history, theory, metalwork, design, business and marketing. Students will
learn the basic skills in crafting metal products and as they progress, they are
required to explore design concepts related to other aspects, such as costing,
design management and entrepreneurship.

BACHELOR IN CONTEMPORARY METAL DESIGN (HONORS)

AD 243 | 6 SEMESTER

This programme is created to nurture students’ personal creative, industrial
and entrepreneurial skills related to jewellery and metal design. Students are
encouraged to explore progressive concepts, use new materials and develop new
techniques. In the curriculum, the students work with all sorts of materials, primarily
metals, including gold, silver, copper, brass and aluminium to produce conceptual
and functional jewellery and metalwork. Students have the opportunity to use tools,
2D and 3D software for designing and CNC machining to produce artworks. These
skills help students to work in various fields and produce a substantial quantity of
high-quality work for their professional portfolios.



FINE ART

Fine art is a study and the making or expression of visual art. Artists
create art to communicate ideas, thoughts, or feelings, primarily
for aesthetics or condept rather than practical application.

DIPLOMA IN FINE ART

AD 118 | 5 SEMESTER

This studio-based programme is designed to provide in-depth
studies towards personal development for those who wish to
pursue an interest in fine art. Students will have the opportunity
to intensively explore various fields of specialisation, emphasising
on the development of studio skills related to painting, drawing,
printmaking and sculpture.

BACHELOR (HONORS) IN FINE ART

AD 228 | 6 SEMESTER

This programme offers an in-depth study of fine art, with majors
in painting, printmaking and sculpture. It aims to develop the
students’ ability to conduct independent research work through
effective communication and professional skills as competent
artists. Students should showcase a body of creative works
beyond boundaries in exploring new concepts, materials and
techniques.



INDUSTRIAL CERAMICS

A design fields that specialized in ceramic, a general term applied
to all kinds of products made from clay and similar materials
processed at high temperature, in bringing ethos of responsible
design to the study of social, market and manufacture.

DIPLOMA IN ART AND DESIGN (CERAMICS)

AD 115 | 5 SEMESTER

This programme introduces general philosophy, principles,
practices and techniques in ceramic art and design via devised
projects; supplemented by a planned series of visits to factories,
as well as small and medium-scale ceramic production centres to
expose students to the applications of knowledge in the field of
ceramics.

BACHELOR IN INDUSTRIAL CERAMICS (HONORS)

AD 245 | 6 SEMESTER

This specialised programme provides students with expertise
and knowledge through an in-depth study of Industrial and Studio
Ceramics. Students are taught to actively engage in personal
research as an integral part of their studies and use ceramics
technology as an inventive and creative way of designing and
manufacturing clay-based products.
