5S Implementation at VIPL

5S kickoff meeting was held on 8th April 2017 same was
inaugurated by Station director Ashesh Padhy.

5S is a workplace management concept which affects

employees day to day life at workplace where they spend
majority of the working time. Neat & clean workplace
helps employee moral boost.

5S is called as SORT,SET IN ORDER,SHINE,STANDARDIZE
& SUSTAIN which means Sort out the wanted & unwanted
things, Neatness, Cleaning, Standardization & Discipline.

5S is impossible to implement with one or two persons.
Everyone needs to be actively involved from chairman to
doorman.100% employees are involved & committed in
5S ,helps to build teamwork culture which becomes a solid
base for implementation of all other Business Excellence
concepts.

House Keeping App for VIPL- A Digitized way for eyeing
Swachha Bharat Abhiyan of VIPL .

R-Power IT launched smart application for VIPL house keeping.

It is said that even dog sits at a place after cleaning and when it
comes for industries and that too a Power industry , it is not exag-
geration to quote that good housekeeping is a backbone for Curbing
many deviations may it be safety, or mechanical / electrical fault in
machines besides Human beings. To eye the Swachha Abhiyan for
persistent quality, R-Power Started a digitized way for the House
keeping management. It has been made live wef 1st April 2017. It in-
corporates systematic way of monitoring and control of housekeep-
ing process in the plant. VIPL Admin team, Operation team and CHP
team actively using this application regularly. Android base applica-
tion provide checklist for each task, and VIPL supervisor can provide
the score as per the quality of the House keeping by vendor, and con-
cerned HOD can approve the score of Housekeeping. This score is
corroborated with reward and fine scheme as envisaged in contract
agreement. This thus paths a way of closely monitoring the actual
implementation of housekeeping and is yielding a much cleaner
VIPL.

Digital E-Logbook for VIPL CHP “Go Clean “,”Go Green ” , “ Go Smart ”

A Green IT initiative

Digitalization of Log Books is one of the most effective tools for plant
O&M in today's time and is one of the attributes of a good power plant.
It helps in quick data-logging and even quicker data retrieval, trending
of parameters over time; it helps in data analysis and fact-based deci-
sion-making.
As a part of this digitization journey of R-Power IT, VIPL launched
this application on 5th April 2017 for CHP Operations. It has been
outcome of continues discussion, exchange of feedbacks between IT-
team and VIPL CHP Operation.
As a new financial year has ushered in, With this, VIPL becomes the 1st
site in R-Power with digital log book for CHP operation.
A golden feather for VIPL in the winds of changes.

Sreenu Reddy The Employee of the Month April 2017 is Sreenu Reddy.

On 30th April 2017, during night, Unit 1 tripped on external grid disturbance due to excita-
tion over voltage fault.
Mr Sreenu was on night shift at that time. By managing the resetting of all the relay, and
verification of all associated electrical system he gave the clearances in the quickest possi-
ble time. Due to this the unit was restored in One Hour and Twenty two minutes, which is
the fastest as per VIPL history.
Sensing the situation and understanding the responsibility, Mr Sreenu has performed to the
best of his capabilities. His analytical skills and fastest response time is appreciated.
