As a coach, I love watching the girls
gain confidence in themselves!

Coach Willoughby, CMS Community School

At Girls on the Run, we believe that every girl is unique. She has her own story to
tell, talents to share, and experiences that shape how she sees herself and the
world around her. Our philosophy is that she is born with immeasurable potential-
potential that will shine a bright light in this world. In fact, we believe girls can
move mountains.

We know (and data proves!) that the complicated world that our girls grow up in
can often dim this light. This is why Girls on the Run is so critical. Our programs
promote resiliency by equipping girls with the tools they need to navigate life's
difficult situations, such as coping skills, positive self-image, and positive self-talk.

Girls on the Run provides a safe and inclus
ive place for so many girls. Girls on the
Run of the Rockies eliminates barriers to participation by covering program costs
for girls in need of financial support & adapting curricula for participants with
disabilities. We are advancing equity in activity by creating spaces to try new
things and test personal limits. In a world of Facetime and filters, Girls on the Run
helps to create community and social connectivity.

Girls on the Run is so much more than a running program. It is a movement built
on movement and it is empowering girls all along the Front Range.
Together, we are helping create the next generation of strong,
empowered individuals that will transform their communities
and the world around them.

council

we reached new heights
This past year, Girls on the Run of the Rockies and Girls on
the Run St. Louis came together to create the 14er
Challenge! This two-day, two 14er challenge required
participants to dedicate themselves to train and fundraise to
support girls in both Colorado and St. Louis. This event
brought over 40 participants from eight different states
together in Leadville, CO, to summit Mt. Massive and Mt.
Elbert. Early mornings, chilly summits, and soggy hikes did
not dampen the enthusiasm of these hikers who collectively
raised over $95,000! These funds came at a critical time
helping to eliminate financial barriers for girls in need. We
were so proud to create such a monumental event and look
forward to making this an annual fundraiser.

highlights

we increased accessibility

Did you know that over 30% of our participants identify as Hispanic/Latina? We recognize that
having staff members that can communicate with families and volunteers in Spanish is only one
piece of the accessibility puzzle. That’s why we are proud to highlight that in 2021, Girls on the
Run of the Rockies officially launched our website in Spanish. As we strive to expand our reach
and better serve our local communities, we want to be intentional in providing inclusive access to
our life-changing program.

The impact of Girls on the Run is far reaching in the
community, elevating the confidence and healthy
social/physical development of young girls, as well as
positively affecting parents and volunteers involved. I
have witnessed this first hand as a parent and coach, and
will continue to tell stories of lives changed by families
involved in the program.
