To our beloved Pastor and Family

It is our great pleasure to welcome Rev P. Sandireaseheran and his family as the pastor of TMC
Kuantan. He was born in Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands and was raised – all over Malaysia- left
Cameron Highlands at the age of 19 and later got married to his wife, Mrs Regina Sandireaseheran.
They have two sons Mr James married to Mrs Alisa and their little princess Meghna Gabrielle James;
and their second son, Mr Peter.
He was called for full time ministry in 1989 when he was 33 years old, specifically to minister among
the Tamil Speaking people in Malaysia. In 1990, he entered Seminary Theology Malaysia to do his
Theological Studies.He graduated with a Bachelors in Divinity in (1995). He has served in many churches
in our Tamil Annual Conference over the past 25 years. He was the Southern District Superintendent,
Selangor District Superintendent, Perak District Superintendent and currently he is the Eastern
District Superintendent.

Greetings from Lay Leader 2020
MR M. DANASAMY

Greetings in the Matchless name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We praise God
for another wonderful year ahead of us. Year 2020 indeed was a challenging year
for everyone. No matter how difficult the situation was, God has been with us,
brought us through and He is doing great and amazing things in our lives.

In view of the current pandemic covid-19 we were unable to open the church for
Sunday Service and other activities. Nevertheless, our media team has put a lot of
effort to make sure the Sunday worship service can be viewed on-line in every
member’s home. I hope everyone has been following up together with your family
joining the on-line service.

Would like to say thanks to all our agencies (MSF, MYAF, MYF and MW) who have
helped our members who were in need during the recent pandemic and natural
disaster which took place in December 2020. Moreover, I would like to send
gratitude to Mitra (Program Bantuan Mitra by MIC Kuantan) who contributed
groceries to needy families in Church which was attended and officiated by YB
Senator Dato’ Sri Ti Lian Ker, Timbalan Menteri Perpaduan Negara.

Praise God for the media team. I would like to thank the Standard Operation
Procedure (SOP) Team for all the effort made for the smooth running of the church
activities. I want to thank Rev Jevaretnam and his family and also would like to
welcome P. Sandireaseheran and his family our current Pastor for the year 2021.

Greetings in the matchless name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ

Dear Church, 2020 was indeed an unprecedented year. Covid- 19 struck when we
were just starting off with our plans for the year. We had to alter and put on hold
plans and initiatives which were decided upon. On top of that, we had to adopt to
the new norm of Covid- 19. Praise God for our young people in the church who
came forward to spearhead the online activities during the remainder of last year.
A big thank you to the media team, worship team, church school department and
all who had put in effort during the MCO period.

The backbone of the church is always its members. This was evident in our church
as even during the pandemic, the financial giving never decreased. Church, our
tithes for the year 2020 exceeded our budget by 12%. Praise God! A big thank you
to everyone who have continually supported the church through your tithes and
offerings.

As we are all aware Rev. Jevaretnam Sowria is posted to TMC Tamil Settlement as
pastor for 2021. A big thank you to Rev. Jevaretnam Sowria who ministered among
us for the past 3 years. Let’s continue to keep him in our prayers.

We have a new pastor, Rev. Sandireaseheran who will be ministering among us in
2021. Let’s all work together to build the kingdom of God. Let’s fix our goals and as
a church we can achieve great things. May 2021 be a blessing to everyone and let’s
put our strengths together to do great things for God!

Mission Field

Greeting in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ

The month of August 2020 was observed as a mission month.
A lot of programmes were carried out during this mission’s
month. MMM organized a prayer drive - one country a day,
which was shared through our Church group. The whole
Church came together to pray for different countries and
people group every day. On 9th August 2020, Mission Sunday
was observed. Bro. Jesuthason, the Malaysian Missionary
Movement director shared the Word of God. On 23rd August
2020 Bro. James Jernarthanan, the Eastern district Missions
Chairperson shared the Word of God at our Sunday Service.

In the month of November, the MMM Shoebox Project 2.0
was launched. Our Church managed to contribute 100 boxes
towards this project. These shoe boxes were distributed to a
group of refugees. A big shoutout and gratitude to all
members and children of TMC Kuantan who took part in this
project. May God bless you kind and generous hearts.

METHODIST SENIOR
FELLOWSHIP (MSF)

On 12th December 2020, the Eastern
District MSF attended a virtual MSF
Conference at Tamil Methodist Church
Kuantan via a zoom meeting.

Our senior members also celebrated
their MSF Sunday on 27th September
2020. It was indeed a blessing for our
church as the seniors took part in our
worship service.

Methodist Women of TMC Kuantan
Greetings to all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Theme : Seek God’s Glory
1) Methodist Women Annual General Meeting
This meeting was held on 05/08/2020 at the church. Committee members for the year 2021
and 2022 were elected.
2) Prayer & Self – Denial Week
Methodist Women had a prayer on 22/11/2020 in the church. We had the opportunity to pray
for the families in the church and for the ministries of the church. The offering taken on that
day was sent to the conference.
3) 45th Tamil Annual Conference
The annual conference meeting was held online on 12/12/2020 in each district due to the
Covid-19 pandemic. Conference was carried out from 9am until 12pm.

FAREWELL

Farewell of Rev. Jevaratnam Sowria
A farewell was held for Rev. Jevaratnam Sowria
who had served as the pastor of TMC Kuantan
and as the District Superintendent for three years
and was transferred to Perak. A farewell gift was
given by the Methodist Women of TMC Kuantan
as a token of appreciation.

YOUTH'S CORNER

Methodist Youth Fellowship of TMC Kuantan
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We
MYFers had few programs for the year 2020.On 6th
January 2020 Mr Shankar (MYF Counsellor) shared
some of his experience to us. On the 19th January 2020
we have joined the Church gotong-royong.
We had our Fund raising in the month of February, we
have the Briyani sale and car wash in the church. Apart
from that we also had Youth’s House prayer meeting
every second Monday of the month.
For Mother’s Day we prepared a video for Eastern
District and local church. MYFers joined Eastern
District prayer on last Monday of every month from
10pm-11pm via Zoom.

HAPPENINGS IN SUNDAY SCHOOL!!

This year due to the pandemic, our children were not able to attend
Church. Thus, our children’s Christmas Party had to be carried out in a
different way. After much brainstorming, we decided to have a DRI
VE-THRU Christmas Day for our children. We, at the Sunday School
love our children very much.

Thus, we did not want them to miss out on their favourite event of
the year. So, we had parents bringing their children according to the
time slot given. We had a wonderful backdrop – special thanks to my
fabulous deco team. We had a one of a kind Santa all the way from
north pole (*cough..cough).

We had a great team of PA and music – their work was outstanding.
And not forgetting our traffic man – did more than controlling traffic.
A big word of gratitude to my wonderful teachers and helpers and
team kitchen for making every programme that we planned a
success. I couldn’t have done it without them!! And special thanks to
all parents who made this event a huge success. All glory to God.

Second Local Conference 2020

We thank our Tamil Annual Conference Bishop Dr Dennis Raj for
chairing our 2nd Local Conference and our Eastern District Lay Leader,

Mr Victor Jesudas for joining us on 20th September 2020.
We thank God for being with us throughout our ministries in 2020

during the Covid-19

pandemic; for strengthening us and giving us wisdom to carry out the
ministries in Church. We also thank God for his grace on us as we
elected new officers for the year 2021.

OUR POST-MCO SUNDAY SERVICE

After more than more than 4 months of closing,
we were finally given a green-light to open!

Our first post-MCO Sunday Service reopening with the new norm
& SOP guidelines on 19/7/202 was indeed a blessing. We thank
God for all His grace and mercy upon our lives. He is our Rock
and our Redeemer.

Property Committee
Maintaining the Church property is important in order to protect the building and equipment.
The Church property is a financial investment which has the potential to serve our comfort
and safety for many years if it is well maintained.
There are 3 main reasons why church property maintenance is important:
·Health and Safety of worshippers and equipment
·Cost Effective
·Improves the Appearance
The Property Committee embarked on 2 main projects in the church for year 2020.
Project 1
To replace the burnt Air Cond Distribution Box and install a new Capacitor Bank.
The old burnt Air Cond Distribution Box was replaced with a new Distribution Box. A new
capacitor bank was installed to store electrical energy and condition the flow of that energy.
A special word of thanks to YB Sim Chon Siang, the Adun of Teruntum for assisting the church
on this project.

Our New Signboard

Imagine going to a new town and trying find a Church to attend…. And as
you reach the church the service is over because you had no access to
information regarding the weekly activities in the church. With that in
mind, we had a signboard installed in our Church entrance on our weekly
activities for visitors’ information.

If you are new in Kuantan and looking for a church to attend, kindly view
our Tamil Methodist Church Kuantan Facebook page or drop by our
premises as our signboard will give the information you need.

Worship Ministry

Greetings to all from the worship committee. In recent years TMC Kuantan’s worship team has
become more focused in enriching our team with new talents and new resources through a
number of initiatives.

Our church family values worshiping together. We believe that Spirit led worship aligns us with
the heart of God. Our times of corporate worship in 2020 were filled with the glory of the Lord
and His life changing presence although our nation bled through the impact of Covid-19
pandemic. He certainly inhabited our praises and surrounded us with His amazing love as we
worshiped together both through online and live service.

TMC Kuantan is so blessed to have so many talented musicians, vocalists, service crew,
volunteers,
technicians, and the list goes on! Weekly services, as well as special services, require
substantial effort by a large team of volunteers. Thankfully, this team continues to grow with
people, passionate to serve the Lord by using their talents and giftings. As such one of our
efforts with the worship crew was to renovate and modify our current PA room to serve the
current purpose and environment of our church. Not only the room was part of modification,
but we have taken the effort with the help of our committed church members’ pledges and the
church to purchase a new PA system to replace our old, outdated PA hardware in church.

Our heartfelt thanks to all worship team members and church members who joined hands to
help us with the upgrade project that involved manpower to refurbish some of our hardware
such as mics, wires, and renovation of sound room.

We believe that the church is not a building, but a body of believers with a specific nature and
purpose. Worship is the key to any church foundations. The aim of our church has always been
NOT about entertaining Christians with flashy displays or presentations, but about expressing
our love by worshiping our Creator.

Worship is God-centered and Christ-centered. We come as a united family to worship.

Project 2

Installation of a new security door and tempered glass door panels
at the main entrance of the sanctuary.
The property committee embarked on this project after a theft in
the Methodist Girls’ Secondary School which is adjacent to the
church building during the MCO period. In an effort to secure all our
entrances into the church building in phases, we changed the main
entrance door of the church to a security door and installed a glass
door to complement it.

A VISIT BY THE DEPUTY MINISTER OF NATIONAL UNITY

PROGRAM BANTUAN MITRA

On 20th of December 2020, YB Senator Dato’ Sri Ti Lian Ker,
Deputy Minister of National Unity together with the Kuantan
MIC chairperson Mr. Rajan distributed 31 food packs under the
Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) program. A
fruitful ad hoc discussion was also done on future collaborations
with the Ministry to aid the needy around Kuantan.

LENT SEASON
To truly appreciate the joy of Easter, it’s important to also experience the
events leading up to it during Holy Week, which begins with Palm Sunday
and commemorates the events of the last few days leading up to Jesus’

death, and ultimately his resurrection. As a church, we celebrate and
remember those days with worship services that are powerful
opportunities to grow our personal faith.

Palm Sunday
Holy Week started on March 28th with Palm Sunday. It's the Sunday
before Easter where we celebrate Jesus entering Jerusalem for the very
last time, greeted by believers waving palm branches, as he begins his trip
to the cross. Although it was during the pandemic, we as a congregation

still celebrated it joyfully on Palm Sunday with strict SOPs too.

Easter Sunday
And then, of course, it all culminates on Sunday with Easter! The
resurrection of Jesus is the heart and soul of what it means to be a
Christian. It’s the foundation of our faith, and the only hope we have for
salvation beyond death and contentment in life. Easter Sunday is when we

proclaim the joyous news that Christ is risen.
We TMC Kuantan came together in the worship service as a family to
worship as a congregation and journey with Jesus to the cross so that we
can truly understand and fully embrace the life-changing power of the

resurrected Christ. It's what Holy Week and Easter is all about.

MISSION TEAM

On 3rd February, Board on Missions had a virtual meeting
via Zoom with Missions Leaders Mobilization and All
Local and District Mission Leaders. Plans for the year
2021 were discussed.
On 7th March, TMC Kuantan’s missions chairperson had
organized a Missions Seminar conducted byPastor David
Thanivel, a missionary in Sapulut, Sabah.
The missions seminar was carried out virtually via Zoom.
A very touching story and experience about the people
and culture in Sabah was shared by Pastor David
Thanivel.

Christian Education Corner

The team decided to learn from the Book of Joshua this year. We are
having monthly quizzes for individuals to participate. Every month there
will be prizes given to the TOP THREE and there will be a Yearly Trophy

to be won.
Joshua son of Nun is a person in the Bible. Joshua is used as a general
against Amalek after Amalek attacks the Israelites. When Moses goes
up to Mount Sinai to get the Torah from God, Joshua stays at the bottom
of the mountain waiting for Moses to come back. He doesn't realise that
the people are worshiping a Golden Calf as an idol until after Moses tells

him.
When two people named Eldad and Medad become prophets, Joshua is

annoyed because he thinks only Moses should be a prophet though
Moses tells Joshua that if it were up to him every Israelite would be a

prophet.
Joshua, it turns out was once named Hosea but then Moses sends him
as one of Twelve spies to Canaan after first renaming him Joshua. Ten
of the spies try to convince the Israelites that it would be better to go
back to being slaves in Egypt than enter the Promised Land because if
they tried to conquer Canaan they'd get killed. Joshua and Caleb said

that if they came to the Promised Land, God would make sure they
would survive against their enemies just like He had saved them from

When Moses dies, he, at the command of God, appoints Joshua leader of

the Israelites. Joshua mourns Moses for many months after his death
but then God commands Joshua to conquer Canaan. Joshua enters the

Promised Land as a general kills 39 kings and manages to take over
most of the country. He then divides the land among the Twelve Tribes

of Israel and then dies. There is a book in the Bible named after him
called the Book of Joshua.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) has had a global impact to the way people
are meeting with social distancing and self-isolation practices in
place. Churches and small groups are quickly adapting to virtual
platform.
Of course! Virtual meetings will never be able to fully replace
physical face-to-face events, but it’s still a great way for members
to stay connected. We still can talk, read, sing and pray together
via these platforms.

BBQ GATHERING

BBQ Gathering
On the 4th of April, MYF conducted a BBQ gathering at 6pm

in our church. Most of the youths, the counsellor, Mr.
Gabriel Jessindran and Rev. Sandireaseheran had joined this

gathering. Games were held and prizes were given away to
the winners who participated in the group games and the

Costume Competition.

Replacement of physical
MYF Programme

MYF Programme can’t be held in the church due
to the pandemic. Thus, the committee decided to
replace the physical MYF Programme with a
virtual one via Zoom every Sunday at 11am to
12:30 pm. Our first programme was with our
counselor, Mr. Gabriel Jessindran on ‘What is my
direction in life?’.
