Written by: The Fayetteville Christian School Advanced Band

Page 1

Long ago in the Land of Musicotia, there
ruled the King and Queen, the Great Time
& Key Signature.

Musicotia

Tune Town

The King and Queen had two precious sons, Prince Song and Prince Silent.
Prince Silent was very jealous of his older brother’s melodious voice since he had
no voice of his own.

As the years passed, Silent’s jealousy grew into Page 3
anger causing him to be very bitter and mean. He
decided he would leave Musicotia and find his
own way for he felt his silence no longer belonged in
this land.

Many years later,
Prince Song

was crowned
King of Musicotia

and Prince Silent
appointed himself

King over the Land of Stillness.

Then....

King Song had a
beautiful daughter

Like her father, she had a lovely voice.

When word of this evil plot reached King Song, he
knew his daughter was in grave danger.

King Song lovingly and carefully explained
to Melody that he would need to send her
into hiding…

Page 6

…knowing that his loyal subjects would help her along the way.

He warned her that she must be quiet so as not to be
discovered by his brother, King Silent.

Page 7

To keep her whereabouts unknown,
King Song secretly arranged her
getaway during the night.

Page 8

As she slept, he kissed her and sent
her away accompanied by his most trusted warrior,
Major Chord, Commander of the 30th FCS Brigade.

Page 9

The next morning when she awoke she was in a very different land.
This place also had an especially foul smell.

Page 10

Her attention was drawn to a very different sound
than she had ever known.
As she listened intently, Melody began to
like this new sound coming from the
dwellers in this place called

Salvage City.

Page 11

Rhythm, the Conductor, was great at
making a song out of all these
unusual sounds.

Melody was soon compelled to
join this ensemble,

but she warned them that her presence could
draw the attention of King Silent.

He was in search of her enchanting voice.

Page 12

In spite of the danger, Rhythm and Melody together made such an amazing duet
that all of the dwellers shared in the sound.

With her new friend by her side, she now understood that music could be composed
in many different ways and by many different dwellers. They may not look or smell
like her but they had music in their hearts just as she did.

Page 13

The news of King Silent’s
approach reached Major Chord.
Apparently he had heard the
sound of music and was now coming
to find the source.

Major Chord quickly told Melody
that they must flee. Rhythm agreed
to come along to lead them through the
secret tunnel to a place of safety.

Page 14

When word of King Silent’s
advances reached King Song,
he prayed earnestly for his
precious daughter’s protection.
He expectantly awaited news of
her safe arrival.

Page 15

When King Silent
reached Salvage City,
he began searching for the

melodious sound.

Being unable to find its source,
he became angry.

Page 16

With a wave of his scepter, he silenced all instruments and dwellers leaving the land
dark and silent.

Page 17

Upon her safe arrival in Tune Town,
Melody was greeted by the most joyful, funny
citizens. Never before had she encountered

such a colorful, noisy place.

Page 18

The chaotic
sounds she heard
led her to the
Town Hall where a
meeting was in progress.

Page 19

The Governors of Tune Town, Treble and Bass Clef,
were working to arrange the dissonant sounds coming from the
instruments. Hearing the problem, Rhythm and Melody
moved to the front of the room.

Rhythm offered to help them but Melody was reluctant, knowing she could bring
danger to Tune Town.

Page 20

No longer able to restrain herself, she joined them
too. Suddenly, the cacophonic sounds came
together into music – fun, catchy tunes.

Melody’s heart was filled with glee as she listened to the music the citizens were
making. Everyone in Tune Town was happy and laughing again.

Page 21

Major Chord quickly came to Melody and whispered, “We must go now; King
Silent has heard the music and is fast approaching.”

Page 22

The Governors led Melody, Rhythm and Major Chord through the secret exit
of Tune Town into the Forest of Harmony.

Page 23

Soon, night was upon them. So, they set up
camp beneath a most unusual tree.

Everyone needed to rest as it had been a long and tiring day.
As Melody tried to sleep, she was most restless. She
recalled all the adventures of the day and worried that King
Silent would discover her.

Page 24

Her mind questioned why
King Silent desired to
find her and silence this
land. Was he sad, hurt, or
just a mean King? She
wondered. But as the night
breeze blew, the gentle sway
of the leaves played a sweet
lullaby that lulled her to sleep.

Page 25

As the night grew darker, King
Silent stomped into Tune Town.

Page 26

Searching for the
source of the music,
he became enraged
when it could not be
found. With one
wave of his scepter,

the town was
silenced and dark.

looked different, like tall, swaying music notes.
The nearby stream was blue and crystal clear,
shimmering in the bright sunlight. Melody felt
the songs she loved bubbling up inside of her.
As before, she could not hold back any longer
and found herself quietly humming a tune.

Page 28

Suddenly she heard someone humming along with her whose voice fit together
with hers perfectly. Walking a little further down the keyboard trail, she met
the Guardian of the Forest, Harmony, who welcomed Melody with great
excitement.

Melody and Harmony began
making music together. Major
Chord heard the singing and quickly
came to her side. He warned her to
be quiet but singing with Harmony
made her feel so complete!

Page 29

When Rhythm, Treble and Bass Clef joined Harmony and Melody, the song
sounded so grand. Their song continued on and on without stopping.

Page 30

The music began to crescendo louder and louder and louder filling the entire kingdom!

Page 31

Upon hearing the sound of this beautiful music,
King Song summoned his footman
to bring the fastest steed
in the kingdom, Accelerando.

Mounting his steed, he
raced faster and faster

through the land until he
reached the Forest of

Harmony

Page 32

Upon arriving, Major Chord warned him that King Silent was fast approaching.
For he too had heard the melodious songs filling the air of the entire Land of
Musicotia!

Page 33

The estranged brothers
soon met face to face for the
first time since they were very
young. King Silent looked

so different from the way
King Song remembered
him. He was dirty, cold and
worn looking. His face was
somber with a scowl that was
frightening. He seemed to have

no joy or love
in his heart.

Page 34

As Melody, Harmony, and Rhythm continued to make beautiful music,
King Silent realized he had found the source of the sound that angered him so much.

Page 35

With his scepter raised, he moved closer
to Melody. As he lunged to seize her,
Melody’s heart was filled with compassion for
him. Rather than cowering, she ran toward
him, throwing her arms around the wicked
King.

He was the quiet rest that had

King Song and King Silent embraced as they forgave one another realizing how

wonderful love and forgiveness can feel. Their reunion, filled them both with

great joy. King Song proudly

“Your name will no longer be

Suddenly, all the lands of Musicotia came back
to sound and light.
