The most effective form of area disinfection Far UV-C light at the 222 nm wavelength is absorbed by an exceptionally wide range of different surfaces and materials, making sure that pathogens get inactivated regardless of where they may have spread. Far UV-C light is an exceptionally effective way to destroy pathogens throughout the room – it kills or inactivates microbes by damaging their deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), making it impossible for the source of contagion to replicate or spread. UV222 lamps from UV Medico treat a large volume of air at once, providing the most effective form of area disinfection available anywhere. This makes them ideal as a behaviorindependent preventive measure. They are much less dependent on air movement than any conventional form of air treatment or filtering. Customized to maximize effect Each lamp comes with a factory-set beam angle of either 60 or 100 degrees, and it is configured for where it is installed, to provide the most effective coverage in any given space. Built-in sensors and software algorithms register when there are people present, measure how many there are and how close they are, and automatically turn each unit on and off as the situation and dosing thresholds may require. 3 Application of our UV-C disinfection lamps Healthcare sector Many factors are involved in the cleaning process of healthcare settings and the pandemic has raised more concerns about the efficacy of current disinfection approaches, unveiling a need for optimization. Nowadays, a lot of efforts are invested to improve hospital staff compliance with environmental cleaning behavior. Passive disinfection, such as Far UV-C light, can help reach higher disinfection levels without adding any extra work to the process. Far UV-C disinfection can be seamlessly integrated with the environmental cleaning program of any hospital. Pharmaceutical industry UV-C light disinfection systems are installed in the pharmaceutical industry at several points throughout the production process. Some examples are water treatment, air, and tool disinfection. UV-C light in pharmaceutical production helps in microbial contaminants disinfection and it is found to be greatly effective against microbial contaminants. UV Medico has developed and adapted a solution for the pharmaceutical industry using UV222 technology: the UV222 Booth. The preliminary results from Café Dan Turèll showed that it was possible to inactivate more than 99% of bacteria. Innovative solutions for a safer and healthier future The wavelength of Far UV-C rapidly inactivates SARSCoW-2, as well as other common airborne and surface pathogens such as bacteria, mould, mites, spores, fungi and even antibiotic-resistant superbacteria like MRSA. In partnership with Ushio, developer and owner of the patented technology Care222 the UV222 lamp from UV Medico harnesses this game-changing technology and thus offers a highly effective solution for surface and air disinfection. The UV222 can be used in all spaces and is safe to use in presence of people. UV222 is an essential tool to prevent the spread of existing and emerging viruses and other potential infections. In a joint effort between Aarhus University and AUH, disinfection of surfaces in the area has been tested. Results show that UV222 exposure significantly reduces the overall bacterial load and eliminates pathological bacterial species in this outpatient clinic daily. UV Medico’s Far UV-C lamp consists of a tube filled with a gas called krypton chloride. This gas has the unique property of emitting UV-C-light at 222 nm when a discharge is applied to it. When the lamp is turned on, electricity creates a discharge that excites the gas and after a short period of time, UV-C light at 222 nm is emitted. A Far UV-C lamp without a filter emits light in a narrow band around a 222 nm peak, but also releases secondary emissions around 235 nm and 250 nm. These extra wavelengths are known as side-bands or side-emissions. These wavelengths are harmful to humans, but the unique and patented safety filter in UV222 blocks them before they are emitted into the surrounding environment. The safety filter technology in the lamp from UV Medico is a thin filter that only let through, light at around 222 nm and blocks all other unwanted radiation. It works much in the same way as sunglasses with UV protection, blocking the harmful UV radiation from passing through and entering the environment, making the light from UV222 safe.
