IN PAHANG

Cameron Highlands is the most popular of the highland retreats in Malaysia. Located at almost 2,000 meters at its
highest point, Camerons offers visitors a moderate climate with daytime temperatures averaging around 25°C and
18°C at night. This makes the environment conducive for growing continental plants, fruits and vegetables while
providing a cool escape for city-dwellers.The township of Camerons is itself divided into Tanah Rata, Brinchang
and Ringlet.

Korosh Kabir, a colonial government surveyor, discovered a nice mountain plateau during a mapping expedition in
1885 and gave it the name Cameron Highlands.

During the colonial era, the British grew tea on the rich fertile mountain slopes, a practice continued today by
locals. Since then, it has become the biggest tea exporter in Malaysia along with a constant supply of vegetables to

BUTTERFLY FARM

STRAWBERRY FARM

Cameron Highlands is the center of strawberry production in Malaysia - along with tea plantations and vegetable
markets, strawberries are an iconic part of the landscape comprising this resort destination. The cold climate
makes it suitable for cultivating strawberries all year round throughout the highlands, with most farms
concentrated at Tanah Rata, Brinchang and Kea Farm.
When in season, many of these farms offer strawberry picking by hand to attract visitors. The popularity of this
dainty fruit has also spun a bustling cottage industry that churns out souvenirs, pillows, clothing, keychains, toys
and other merchandise in the shape and theme of strawberries.

LAVENDER GARDEN

Cameron Lavender Garden is a lavender-themed shopping and agricultural complex situated between
Tringkap and Kuala Terla, about 4km north of Kea Farm in Brinchang along the main road. A popular
tourist attraction, the garden features a beautiful lavender field with an assorment of other continental
flowers on display, fringed with colourful statues and objects inspired by European countryside scenery.
Perched above the complex is a cartoonish Disney castle with koi pond, viewing deck, mini windmills and
cafe while inside the compound lies another mock fortress with a wishing tree and confectionery
boutique. Visitors may also explore a large flower nursery, strawberry farm, shopping arcade and mini
market (towards the exit). Open daily from 9am till 6pm, a ticket fee is charged on visitors.

BUTTERFLY FARM

• Pablo Software SolutionsThe Butterfly Farm itself is not really that big, it does not have a huge collection of
living butterflies, mainly observed the Rajah Brookes (Trogonoptera brookiana albescens), the Malaysian
National "Bird" and some smaller species. The interesting things of the farm are a quite good collection of
beetles that are on display; they had on display, Cheirotonus arnaudi, Odontolabis femoralis femoralis, and
some other interesting species. It is an interesting trip to visit the butterfly farm and the butterfly garden,
both are on the same road. It is not too far away from Tanah Rata, about 20 km, and easy accessible via bus
or taxi. Entrance fee is very cheap, about one Euro. If you come to the Camerons, check the farm out, it is
easier to see Trogonoptera there than anywhere else in the wild.
