Good morning. Teacher and friends. Today, I'm going to talk about why wetlands are
important to us. First, wetlands are home to many species of plants and animals. These
plants and animals are important to us because they provide us with food and
medicines. Next, wetlands help to stop flooding in areas surrounding the wetlands. They
act like giant sponges soaking up all the water. Finally, wetlands help to clean and filter
the water that we use. The plants in the wetlands trap the toxic wastes and take the bad
chemicals out of the water. This makes the water safe for us to use. So, we should
conserve our wetlands. Thank you.

Global warming is caused by a phenomenon known as the greenhouse effect.

A greenhouse (or glasshouse) is good for growing things because it traps heat inside
and stays hotter than the atmosphere around it.

Read the talk below and answer the questions that follow.

Good morning, boys and girls. Today, I am going to tell you how you can
reduce global warming at home, in school and in the community.

There are a few things we can do at home to reduce global warming.
We should use energy-saving appliances in our homes. We should also switch
off electrical appliances when we are not using them. Each time we use the
washing machine, we should wash a full load of clothes. When we wash only a
few pieces of clothes at a time, we waste energy.

We can also help to reduce global warming in school. We should throw
rubbish into the correct recycling bins. We should turn off the taps in the
canteen and toilet when we are not using them. We should inform our parents
to turn off their car engines when they wait for us outside the school so that
less fumes are released into the air.

There are also ways we can help to reduce global warming in the
community. We can plant more frees our neighbourhood as trees remove
carbon dioxide from the air. We should use public transport to travel around in
our town. We can also use solar energy to provide electricity for our homes.

I hope that you will help to reduce global warming by doing what I have
told you today. Let's do our part and save the Earth. Thank you.

One weekend, they planted the saplings all around the school field. They took
turns to water the saplings. The saplings grew well because the boys took good care of
