ABOUT SAFARNAMA “SAFARNAMA” is derived from the Urdu language and is a coalition of two words – “Safar” meaning travel/a journey and “Nama” meaning an account of/the story of. This implies that Safarnama literally translates to an account of a journey. We have set upon a journey in accordance with our District Theme “Udaan” and Safarnama looks to encapsulate the journey that we have embarked upon as a travelogue. The word Safarnama best describes our tryst with efficiently documenting our enthralling journey. ABOUT THE NEWSLETTER The District Newsletter is a chronicle that entails the work carried out by the district throughout a set period of time. It brings out a review of all club projects along with an opportunity to lead people to the clubs’ social media handles. It can serve as an inspiration to the club members as well as help in promoting the clubs of the district. The newsletter serves as documentation of the work done by the district and can be useful for anyone looking to associate with the district on a similar line of service. Having a newsletter helps us to record and publicize current events in the district, provide visitors with information about the district and its activities, encourage communication among members, increase fellowship, recognize the achievements of our members and inspire the district to be a fervent part of the Leo Club Program. HISTORY OF LEO DISTRICT 322 D The organization which we are a part of aims at enhancing the knowledge, complemented by leadership and management skills to provide the youth with an opportunity for development and contribution, individually and collectively, as responsible members of the local, national and international community. Our District, as it stands today, came into existence following the bifurcation of District 322 B in the year 1979-80. The earlier district was very large in area and the development of Lionism / Leoism in such a big area was at an extremely slow pace. Administration became a chronic problem, which necessitated the need for bifurcation. In the words of our first District Governor, Lion J.N. Bawri after due consideration, we separated ourselves with the new District 322 D. The District 322 D was again, divided in 2000-01 and separated as Leo District 322 D and 322 F. Once again in the year 2018, our District 322 D was bifurcated into two different districts D & G. Geographically, District area of 322 D includes states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur & revenue districts of states of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland in India and the revenue districts of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Dhemaji, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Jorhat, Biswanath, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong East, Sonitpur, Nagaon, Hojai, Karbi Anglong West and Dima Hassao in the state of Assam. Keeping all the moralities of the Past District Presidents, who never halted to give significance to what LEO stands for, in mind, UDAAN - Together We Soar, Together We Roar is the theme for the year 2021-22 under the kinship of District President, Leo Taran Soni. The members of the district have embarked on a mission to soar and roar as one. We've dreamed of reaching greater heights and earning success beyond the sky's limit as a squad. The main goal is to assist the community and promote its expansion. This is not where it ends, but only the onset of our journey. We have vowed to continue assisting our society in every way possible while also developing ourselves and celebrating this bond. Turning this vision into existence is what we aspire for. "Each one, Lead one” is another initiative for the growth and advancement of each member. WHAT IS LEO Leadership, Experience, Opportunity. That is what makes a Leo. Leos embody the best qualities of our incredible organization. They are devoted young people who realize the power of action. Being a Leo is much more than just service. Leo clubs help us grow as an individual and as a leader as a global family of young people making the world a better place. A global community of Leos work tirelessly to ensure a better world. An organization with a global outreach consisting of more than 150 countries, over 7200 clubs and a strength of over 140000 Leos is what we fondly refer to as the Leo family. Through the Leo Clubs, we are able to develop and practice leadership, organization and social skills through participation in Leo club activities and service projects. Involvement in these activities often fosters a lifetime commitment to helping others, while enhancing the community. Being a Leo brings with it a sense of pride and a feeling of wholesomeness. As Leos, we aim to fervently work towards bringing positive change in society. Leos strive to make the world a better place and our tryst helps us become better individuals. Leo clubs also provide us with numerous opportunities to build friendships and create inseparable bonds with each other as one big family. Being a Leo also comes with the opportunity to be a global leader as various leadership posts let us channel and improve on our innate leadership capabilities. It gives me immense pleasure that the annual newsletter “SAFARNAMA” for Leoistic Year 2021-22 is going to be released. It is the mouthpiece of the Leo District 322D. Hope the “Safar”, that is the activities, from July 2021 to June 2022 will inspire and motivate the Leos in the coming years. Leos are not only our future leaders but they are the ones shaping the future for the generations to come. Dear Leos, avail the opportunities given by LCI, such as GAT success story submission, Leadership Institutes like ALLI, Leo Video Contest etc. So many grants and funds are there for service, and leadership programs! Grab it. Leos, who want to continue their service journey as Lions do not miss the opportunity of serving as Leo-Lion members. The name SAFARNAMA is a beautiful symbol of the representation of this journey as we bring to you our tryst with self-development. “Safar” is symbolic of our Leoistic journey during the L.Y. 2021-22 and “Nama” refers to the logs of this journey. “Safarnama” thereby rightfully contains all our events and feats during the year making it a book of our journey, granting you a sneak-peek too. Dear Leos, I feel really proud in stating that Leo District 322D has been amongst the best Leo Districts of our Leo Multiple District and has given great leaders since its inception. Through this medium, I would like to congratulate your District President (2021-22) Leo Taran Soni for his hardwork and dedication in making sure that he not just lives up to the benchmark set by the Past District Presidents but also surpasses them with flying colours. The District’s creativity truly shines through your social media page and it creates such a positive impact about the exemplary work that you all have been undertaking. The “Udaan” which your district was going to take was clearly visible on the day of the Leo District Installation itself. It was the whole team’s effort that has brought the district to greater heights completely justifying the motto of your District President of Soaring and Roaring Together. I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the upcoming Leaders of the District Leo Vishal Patni and Leo Anisha Mittal and wish them a successful year ahead. LEO AKSHIT BAGLA International Leo Advisory Panelist (2021-23) Dear Leos “Ends are not bad, they just mean that something else is about to begin. And there are many things that don't really end, they just begin again in a new way." This being my last message as DLCC (2021-22), the journey being the DLCC of this vibrant Leo District that began in the year 2010-11 has been beyond words. And working with Leos as a Lion has been a learning experience for me. During my 4th term, I enjoyed this responsibility to the fullest and as they say, a leader is good as his team. As we stepped into another pulchritudinous year of our leo expedition, I have witnessed altruistic love of all our fellow leos towards each other which makes our roots more vigorous and would like to cherish all the beautiful memories which we have created so far. LEO, it is an impeccable platform to build and grow yourselves. If I share with you my experience, trust me, I was a reticent child and extremely anxious around people. I didn’t know how to cope up amidst any social aura and also had a stage fright. It was LEO which taught me how to get rid of it. It made me realise how to explore and develop oneself. This is how leo bring out the best version of myself. Being a leo, it gives us a chance to mould our temperament and also it gives us the opportunity to be the guiding light to an individual at the time of darkness. It is a platform which helps us to serve the society along with self development. Lastly, I would like to convey to all my fellow leos, to take maximum out of it, exhibit your talent and skills to the world out without any hindrances and bring out the best version of yourself! THE DISTRICT LOGO / PIN A logo, as vibrant in colours as the Leo movement, cannot go unnoticed. Presenting before you, the official logo of Leo Dist. 322 D for the L.Y. 2021-22. The Presidential vision this year is to scale greater heights together with our mates and what better than a kite to soar in the skies, at the same time being grounded with your virtues. The entire logo is designed with different shades of a single colour. It portrays unity in the diversity of Leoism. Just like these shades, we all have different ideologies and different approaches to certain things, but in the end, we all are the same! The District Theme is "UDAAN - Together we soar, Together we roar". The aim is not just to contribute our share to society but also to ensure the growth and self-development of Leos altogether. A single kite in the skies can go unnoticed but when hundreds or thousands of skies come together, ATTENTION PLEASE! Hence, Together we will soar the skies and then roar about our success aloud. Why? Because we are Proud & Loud Leos. The intricate design of the logo takes shape with our symbol of recognition, the Leo logo (1) at the very top, right where it belongs. The sun rises from the East, stays overhead the entire day and sets in the West; such is the beginning of our Year with a Day zero report to plan for the year symbolised in the form of the rising sun (2) at the left, DP's Interim & Official visit to keep a check with the sun overhead (3) on the logo and a day 365 report as the sun sets (4) on the right to assess the achievement of our target on the completion of the L.Y. 2021-22. Fellowship is amongst the primary objectives this year and what better than a Wi-Fi signal (5) to denote connection as we eye the lower part of the logo. The connection throws rays of energy and hope (6) at everything nearby through light strokes on the logo. The tassel (7) at the bottom steers it in the right direction whenever there are strong currents in the air. A far-sighted vision with the kite soaring higher and the string in your hand. Vision combined with action has the power to transform the world! A fresh vision comes with the start of a new chapter, but our objective stays the same! With great pleasure, we would like to convey the vision and mission of our district for the Leoistic Year 2021-22. 1. The plan is to embark on a mission to soar and roar as one. A dream of reaching greater heights and earning success beyond the sky's limit as a team! "UDAAN - Together We Soar, Together We Roar" is the theme for this Leoistic Year, with this motive in mind. Our millennials are poised to set an example for the entire district with this uplifting theme. 2. Club Presidents must make a full-proof report of their club's situation on the first of the Leoistic Year or the day they commence activities (Day Zero) and where they envisage their Club standing by the end of the Leoistic Year (Day 365) at the start of each Leoistic Year. The "Day Zero Report's" principal goal is to learn about the Club Presidents' visions to guide and direct them toward the growth and development of Leoism and society. Day 365 reports help club presidents define a goal for their tenure and make tracking each club's success more effortless and efficient. 3. All the Clubs are instructed to adopt a theme for the L.Y. pertaining to their local scenario, which can contribute to growth and development in their core area, as part of our theme "UDAAN." Our mission includes the motive to assist the community, and because each society has its own needs, we have instructed all of the clubs to adopt a theme. With this aim, we hope to serve the entire local community. 4. We focus on each other's growth and advancement with the idea of "Each one, Lead one”. As a result, each fellow member of all the respective clubs is required to lead at least one club project within the L.Y. This initiative improves leadership abilities and instils confidence in each team member. 5. This year the emphasis would be on the self-development of Leos before service towards society. As they say, “Charity begins at home”, The "हुनर" of Leos would be a year-long initiative of strengthening our leomates' skills while also allowing them to share and progress as members of the District. The initiative would be launched of Youth Skills Day. Individual members from each club in the district presented and demonstrated their their talent in any one field to the audience as part of this initiative. This way one Leo would teach the other as knowledge & skills would be imparted to each other. 6. This year, as Leos our goal is to soar and fathom the heavens with fellow mates, where every Leo member acts as a step for the ladder to achievement, draped in the theme of UDAAN for the new voyage while fostering fellowship amongst ourselves. Let us pledge to continue serving our society in every way possible while we develop into a better version of ourselves through fellowship & self-development. As a result, we've banded together to be the change we want to see in the world and make our vision a reality! HOSTED BY ALL CLUBS OF LEO DISTRICT 322 D SMALL ACTIONS X LOT OF PEOPLE = BIG CHANGE! Different clubs gathered and sold out old clothes which were in usable condition to needy people at a very nominal price (say trousers for ₹ 10/-) so that they realised its value and appreciated the possession. Secondly, with the funds so procured, the Clubs funded and executed another service project. Kapdon ki Mandi 4 DISTRICT INITIATIVES Celebrated the auspicious beginning of the new Leoistic Year on July 1st by distributing chocolates but in a unique fist bump style to bring joy & happiness around us. Leos of our District distributed chocolates asking “Kuch meetha ho jaaye?” Shubh aarambh 1 On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, members of the district conducted vaccination drives all across the region while also volunteering in vaccination camps in their locality. We thus helped the local authorities in their mission to vaccinate people while educating the locals about the benefit of the vaccine to curb COVID-19. Leo Army - Kargil Diwas 3 A competition organised for the most beautifully decorated matki as well as the most useful contents inside the Matki which can be donated to the needy or underprivileged Khushiyon ki Matki 2 2021 - 2022 / SAFARNAMA 10

Introduced on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day with an aim to encourage Leos of our District to share and teach their skills/talents to their companions. A monthly initiative with a vision to create skilled, multi-talented and proficient Leos who will enable our district to soar towards greater heights and at the same time excel in personal careers & life. The evergreen story of Cinderella is proof that a pair of shoes can changes lives! Our old shoes can be someone’s new! Keeping this in mind, we initiated SOLE FOR SOULS ~ A Mega Footwear Donation Drive! Sole for Souls 7 This initiative was all about being friends with the underprivileged females by distributing sanitary napkins to them. Separate cartons of sanitary napkins were provided to each Club and they were asked to distribute the same to the needy women in their areas. Sakhi 6 The DVP’s initiative of Inaayat emphasised all categories of workers who work under sultry heat to run their families. The initiative was to provide head umbrellas to rickshaw pullers, labourers and other such working people. The motive was to provide these sections of people with aid to work under extreme conditions Inaayat 9 We started by collecting various distributive items which were either surplus or laying idle with us. We then went out in the streets to needy people and asked their wishes and tried to fulfil the same with the items with us. The Thursday Trivia 11 Club Presentations were introduced in the District at each Council Meet. This not only helped in conveying information about each Clubs’ activities and achievements but also helped in improving the public speaking skills of our Leos. Quarterly club presentations in Council Meet 13 The focus on self-development led to this initiative of ending the fear within ourselves. Since the start of the L.Y. small steps were initiated to help Leos break free from the stereotype and bring out their hidden talents without them even knowing about it. F.E.A.R. - Face Everything And Roar 14 A music video featuring our own enthusiastic Leo District Council with a track so beautifully composed of lyrics relating to the District Theme, sung and penned down too by our own Leos making everyone groove to it was launched. SERVICE BEGINS AT HOME The objective of the first monthly theme was to look around ourselves, our home, business establishment or maybe in our colony, and provide required services to the needy one in any form. A Club may collectively install a water purifier at someone’s place; or may distribute some old clothes or may ask them what they are actually in need of. BEAT THE HEAT August observes sultry heat. The motive was to conduct projects on distributing water bottles or juice packets to the needy ones roaming around. Not just to the people, but to the birds also by keeping a container on our terrace and regularly filling it with water. NURTURE THE NATURE Cleanliness Drive (Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan) at various public places. Plant a sapling at the beginning of the month, nurture it and finally see it bloom at the end of the month. Felicitation of Local Municipal workers or other sweepers who help us keep our surroundings clean daily. Providing cleanliness tools and equipment to any family or community as a whole and teaching them about the importance of preserving nature. KINDNESS From small acts of kindness to sharing kindness quotes, doing good makes you feel good! Sounds like a win-win. Take a tiny portion of your day to put a smile on someone’s face or give someone an unexpected surprise with these kind gestures because you hold the power to make someone’s day with some small but selfless acts. PADHEGA INDIA, BADHEGA INDIA Keeping in mind the literary events this month, projects like providing stationery to needy children or paying a child’s one month/year education expenses could be done. SPREAD THE WARMTH ~ तैयारी आप के खुशियों की This theme had two-fold aspects. Firstly, we spread the warmth by selling old woollens, blankets, etc. to rural areas by charging ₹ 10 or so per item. The funds so generated were our तैय्यारी उनके खुशियों की I Secondly, the generated funds were used to conduct another service project as per the need of the area. PEHEL ~ TAKE A STEP! Service to the service providers by the distribution of old bedsheets and mosquito nets amongst rickshaw pullers, auto drivers, etc; free health check-up camps like eye screening; cleanliness drive/tree plantation; educating about Waste Management and Proper Waste Segregation by providing adequate bins at any Govt. School. Taking a step forward for the betterment of our society and inspire others by setting an example. SAVE SOIL As an Earth Buddy, what we can do to Save Soil is simply hold a campaign and create awareness in the form of street plays, flash mobs, dance videos, distributing pamphlets, educating people about the same and so on. If we don’t start replenishing our soil today, 30 years down the line it will not be in a state to produce food for us. PDPS’ THEME The Clubs were free to choose from a wide range of Past District Presidents’ themes and conduct projects on the same. It was induced as a gesture to the wonderful ideas of our predecessors. EHSAAS ~ THE FEELING OF EMPATHY! EHSAAS ~ the feeling of empathy has diversified ways and can be felt and fulfilled in any manner. The theme was all about realising the problem of others, understanding it and trying to eradicate the same. The adrenaline rush of emotions is what I'm trying hard to control right now. We started the year with 'शुभारंभ' and closed it with a happening conference "Kai Po Che - Embracing our Journey". L.Y. 2021-22, as I mentioned on the very first day, would be about the journey; "Safar khoobsurat hai manzil se bhi". Together, we shall soar & roar because "Asli mazza toh sab ke saath aata hai". If during these 365 days, every Leo has felt even a percent of positive change in themselves because of the Leo movement, I believe I have had a successful L.Y. as a leader. The competition for you last year was with yourself, for your Club it was the Club itself. UDAAN was about growing and evolving ourselves and our Club from Day 0 to Day 365 in a positive direction altogether. I am very proud of what WE have achieved as a team during the L.Y. 2021-22. Service projects are a by-product of coming together, but if we have fostered the qualities of self-development and fellowship last year, we have ensured everything else too.
