Community Outreach: Coat Drive
Date: Monday, August 29th – Thursday, September 23rd
Location: Zebulon Town Hall & Zebulon Community Center
We are collecting coats for all ages, in all sizes. You can donate either new or gently used
coats that are still in good condition. Collection boxes are out at both Zebulon Town Hall and
Zebulon Community Center. Coats will be distributed at the Gill Street Community Cookout &
Coat Distribution on Thursday, September 29th.

We will have a community cookout at Gill Street Park from 5:00 – 6:30 PM, while we distribute

All fitness classes take place at the Zebulon Community Center. Memberships options
available for select fitness classes. Fitness classes are for ages 18 & up. Please visit our
website for registration and more information.
All Access Day Pass- Receive unlimited access to the Fitness Room and Unlimited Daytime
Fitness Classes for one month. This pass does not include nighttime 6-week session classes.
Resident $35 per month, Non-Resident $45 per month
Get Fit Day Pass – Get 7 classes for $25 (Residents) or $30 (Non-Residents) for any daytime
fitness classes. This pass does not include nighttime 6-week sessions classes.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Senior Fitness Program

Strength training is no longer just for bodybuilders. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy is a 10-week,
evidence-based strength training program designed for older adults who want to improve their
quality of life and stay active. Over the course of the program, you will increase your strength
and improve your balance. Weights will be available on-site, and a trained instructor will help
you learn and do these exercises safely. There will be no class on July 4 and July 8.

Line Dancing is a cardio dance class taught by long time instructor Inga Beck. Crank up the
music and let’s go line dancing. Get a great workout while dancing to your favorite country,
beach, dance, and rock n-roll hits.

Total Body Boot Camp will challenge you physically and mentally! It will have a gradual
increase in intensity to get you in your best shape! It will include cardio, weights, balance and
stretching!
NATURE PROGRAMS
Worm Farm Composting
Date: Saturday, June 11

Location: Zebulon Community Center
Cost: $10.00 per family
Ages: Families of all ages
Registration Deadline: Wednesday, June 8
Join us as we explore the “ins and outs” of worm composting. Take home your own worm bin
filled with the little wigglers that help make our soil healthy. Cost includes one worm compost bin
per family.
*When registering, please only register the parent attending the program and let us know how
many children you will be bringing in the registration form.
Birds of Prey with Sylvan Heights
Date: Saturday, September 10
Time: 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Location: Little River Park
Ages: Kindergarten-6th Grade. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Cost: FREE
Birds of Prey- “Hawks, owls, and vultures- oh my! Discover what makes birds of prey such
incredible aerial hunters and meet a few feathered friends! Participants will have the chance
to dissect owl pellets!” The program highlights some of nature’s most amazing predators and
will give participants the opportunity to learn about birds of prey through games and animal
encounters.

ADULT FALL ATHLETIC LEAGUES
Adult Open Softball League
Dates: Monday & Wednesday Evenings
Age: 18 & Up
Cost: $500 Per Team
Registration Period: July 1 – July 31
The Adult Open Softball League is for players 18 & up. Registration is taken on a per team basis.
The league will be using ASA Rules with some modifications. League will begin play in mid-
September.

Instructor Charles Mann is a 9th Degree Black Belt. Charles has been the instructor for this
traditional Okinawan Karate for over 30 years and has taught Karate for the Parks & Recreation
Department for over 25 years! This class is open to all age groups and all skill levels.
Family Open Gym
Date: Every Tuesday
Time: 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Ages: Families and Children
Registration: Pre-Registration Required
Enjoy some gym time as a family. Family Open Gym time has been designated to give families
time together to use our facility space and equipment. Spend time playing games, exercising,
and interacting with other families in the community. Child/Children must be accompanied by
a parent or guardian. There will be no family open gym on June 22nd or August 17th due to
conflicts with Summer Camps.

Social Knitting & Crocheting
Dates: Fridays Starting August 5th
Age: All Ages (15 & under must be accompanied by an Adult)

Bring your latest project, exchange ideas & learn new stitches from your fellow knitters &
crocheters during this 2-hour meet-up group with those that share a “common thread” with you.
This is not an instructional class, however, there may be other knitters or crocheters who can
help guide you if you’d like to learn how to knit or crochet. Loom knitters are also welcome. All
ages are welcome; ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult and ages 16-17 must
have a registration form completed by a parent/guardian to participate. Supplies not included.

Skyhawks Sports Academy will be leading their SuperTots Sports Clinics! Learning sports has
never been more fun! SuperTots classes focus on fine and gross motor skills as well as body

Nighttime Pickleball Mondays, June 20-August 29

Join us at the Zebulon Community Center for some pick-up games of Pickleball every Monday
from 6:00-8:00PM. This program is FREE, but we do ask that all participants fill out a Program
Registration Form. Pickleball is played on a badminton-sized court with a plastic ball and
paddle. The game is easy to learn and can be played as singles or doubles. There will be no
Pickleball on July 4th.
Pickleball Lessons

Cost: $85 for 10-week season, 1 practice per week
Age: 16 & Up
Location: Whitley Park
Beginners: No experience needed for this 10-week class! All you need is a paddle, water
bottle, athletic attire, and sun protection. You will learn the fundamentals, the rules, the
etiquette, and be able to start playing competitively by the end of the season.
Adults: Each class will be half drilling strategies and scenarios that will help you quickly
advance your skills. The 2nd half of the class is all gameplay so that you can immediately
use the skills practiced in the drills. We keep the class welcoming and fun, no bad attitudes
allowed. Join us!

PARKS & FACILITES
The Zebulon Parks and Recreation Department offers six public parks and a Community Center
for recreation enthusiasts in the Zebulon area.
Zebulon Community Park - 401 S. Arendell Ave.
The Zebulon Community Park is the largest park in Zebulon consisting of 47.5 acres full of two
athletic fields, walking trails, two outdoor basketball courts, an 18-hole disc golf course, two
playgrounds and a picnic shelter.
Zebulon Elementary School Park - 1002 Dogwood Dr.
The Zebulon Elementary School Park is tucked behind the Zebulon Library and Eastern Regional
Center and is filled with two baseball fields, a soccer field, volleyball net, a picnic shelter and an
open playfield.
Wakelon Elementary School Park - 8921 Pippin Rd.
Wakelon Elementary School Park, located off Pippin Road, is ideal for anyone looking for an open
space rental. This park consists of two multipurpose fields along with a picnic shelter.
Gill Street Park - 600 N. Privette St.
Gill Street Park is quaint park located between Privette and Gill Street that includes two
playgrounds and an outdoor basketball court.
Whitley Park - 601 N. Wakefield St.
Whitley Park is a lovely shaded park fit for the more relaxing and picnic admirers. Whitley Park
holds two playground areas, picnic shelter, and tennis courts.
Little River Park - 1800 W. Gannon Ave.
Little River Park is one of the oldest parks in Zebulon. Known for its natural flowing river, Little
River Park is for all nature lovers who enjoy fishing, playing on the white sandy beaches or
meditating to the gentle sounds of water rolling through.
Zebulon Community Center - 301 S. Arendell Ave.
What used to be the old Zebulon Armory, the Zebulon Community Center has transformed into
a vibrant and fun-filled community building. The Zebulon Community Center is our most active
facility with numerous programs and activities taking place throughout the day with an open gym
area, two fitness rooms, two activity rooms, an art room, and a classroom that are available for
rent for birthday parties, meetings, or banquets.
Beaverdam Creek Greenway
Beaverdam Creek Greenway connects Taryn Meadows to Weaver’s Pond and is just under 1
mile. This project was 100% grant funded (John Rex Endowment, CAMPO, Wake County, and
PARTF) and includes amenities along the route such as bike repair, fitness equipment, swings,
and an overlook. Public access points can be found on Spiderlily Court, Ginger Lake Court, and at
Pippin Road near the Hendricks Pond.
Zebulon Parks & Recreation offers a variety of Picnic Shelters, Athletic Fields, and event
space for rent. To learn more about reserving the spaces, visit our website.
