OUR EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

Hello and good day!

Creating a magazine is a challenging task. It requires the team MISS ALIZA
to come up with creative ideas, brilliant concepts, attractive ALEXANDER
designs and being able to search for the right information.

5 Bijak, the editorial team of this amazing magazine pushed
their way beyond their capacity and ability to create this ENGLISH TEACHER
masterpiece. They dedicated their time and energy in producing SK TIARA PERMAI
this magazine which will be carried with pride by each one of
them.

Throughout the journey, the editorial board has worked
together as a team, developed their research skills, expanded
their interpersonal skills through interviews, thought out of
the box to design their pieces using technology and worked
closely with datelines.

I am extremely proud of everyone in the editorial board for
their relentless effort put into this magazine which will be a
stepping stone for more innovate ideas by them.

I have seen leaders, journalists, photographers, designers and IT

THE TOILET ON THE SECOND FLOOR

written by, Amsyar Raimy

In May 2014, a ghost sighting was reported at the girls’ toilet on the second
floor of SK Tiara Permai. Some speculated that the ghost was a female builder
who mysteriously disappeared when the school was under construction. Other
sightings were reported at the same place. But, this is the truth!

Once, there were three girls playing in the toilet, skipping their boring History
class. Suddenly, the door shut very tightly and left some damage on it. The
girls thought it was some prank by their friends. Then, they realised it was not
a prank as the windows begun closing one by one, except for one window.
”What is going on!?” screamed one of the girls. Another girl tried to open the
windows. She saw a kid standing at the school backyard. "Hey, who are you? I
have never seen you here before!" the girl shouted from the window.

The girls heard a flush from one of the toilets and they jumped in shock. ”Where did that
kid go?” one of the girls asked while looking out the window. That experience left the girls
in fear but the story doesn’t stop here. The girls wished it was just a dream until they
suddenly heard pure evil laughing. They screamed in fear and hugged each other while
hiding under the sink. The laughing suddenly stopped. The ceiling started bleeding and
the toilet started flooding with crimson red substance. "That is blood!!!!", one of the girls
said shakily. A weird black creature with white eyes walked out one of the rooms in the
toilet. It was huge, but skinny with a monstrous look. "It looks like the kid from the
backyard," whispered one of the girls. Except that it wasn’t a girl! It was a mutated adult
abomination standing twice as tall as the tallest girl in school!

The girls ran towards the door to run out of the toilet, away from the creature.
"Kringgggggggggg" the school bell rung. The three girls fainted as the creature jumped
on them.

"Wake up!" said Miss Sarina while splashing water on the girls' face. The girls opened their
eyes slowly and found themselves in the sick bay. Miss Sarina told them that the gardener
found them in the backyard. "What were you girls doing at the backyard?" asked Miss
Sarina. One of the girls told Miss Sarina what had happened.

Miss Sarina's face turned pale and her eyes were turning red. "STAY OUT OF THIS AND
SAY NOTHING TO ANYONE!" said Miss Sarina in a spooky voice. The girls walked back
to their class, said nothing to anyone till today when one of the girls decided to write
this.......................because she found out who Miss Sarina really is.

The next time you skip your class and play in the toilet, BEWARE!

FLOOD

THE EFFECTS AND PREVENTIONS

reported by, Fathullah

Floods are one of the most dangerous natural disasters. It happens when excessive water
is collected in any area. It usually happens due to heavy rainfall. Malaysia is highly prone
to flood. There are many regions in the country that face this natural disaster because of
the overflowing of rivers. Another reason for floods is when the dam breaks down. If we
look at the coastal areas, the monsoon season is held responsible for causing floods. In
this essay on flood, we will see the prevention and after-affect of flood.

After-effects of Flood
Floods interrupt with the day to day functioning of the affected area. The severe floods
sometimes cause mass destruction. A lot of people and animals lose their lives due to
floods. Several others are injured. Floods also bring a rise in diseases. The stagnant water
attracts mosquitoes causing malaria, dengue, and more illnesses.

Furthermore, people face power cuts due to the danger of electrocution. They also have
to face expensive pricing. As the supply of food and goods gets limited, the prices
naturally grow higher. This creates a big problem for the common man.

Most importantly, the whole country faces economic loss. The resources needed to rescue
people and tackle this disaster demands a hefty amount. Plus, the citizens lose their
houses and cars which they worked all their lives for.

Subsequently, floods also hamper the environment. It causes soil erosion and this
degrades the quality of the soil. We lose out on fertile soil. Similarly, floods also damage
flora and fauna. They damage crops and displace trees. Thus, the measure should be
taken to avoid these grave consequences.

Ways to Prevent flood
The government and citizens must work together to formulate ways to prevent floods.
Proper awareness must be spread about the steps to take when floods occur. Warning
systems must be set up so people get sufficient time to save themselves. In addition,
areas that are more likely to have floods must have tall buildings above the flood level.

Further, there should be an efficient system for storing excessive water due to rain. This
will prevent the overflowing of water. One of the most important steps is to strengthen
the drainage system. This can avoid water logging which will prevent floods.

Other than that, dams must be constructed strongly. The use of cheap materials causes
dams to break. The government must ensure there is a quality building of dams to
prevent floods.

In short, we cannot prevent natural causes like rain and the melting of glaciers.
However, we can stop the manmade causes like breaking of dams, poor drainage
system, installing warning systems and more. We should take inspiration from countries
like Singapore that never experience floods despite having heavy rainfall for most time
of the year.

HOW DID IT START?

The Earth Protectors program started on 13
December 2020 and ended on the 25 January

pollution and spread awareness. It was an initiative
under the Plastic Tide Turner project with United

WHY IS PLASTIC POLLUTION A

of applications and at least 8 million tons of
plastic end up in our oceans every year. Plastic
