YMCA CAPE COD
For a Better Us.™
I see the whole world in a new light
Through my daughter’s eyes
I don’t see the bad, only the good
I see the wonder that every day holds for her,
Something new in a flower
That I never saw before
Something magic in her mind
That shines through her eyes out into her world
I only wish that my eyes still held that magic
That magic that I see only through
My Daughter’s eyes.

At the Y, we believe in making magic happen for all in
our community. As a leader in youth development and healthy
living, the real magic happens when we bring people together
to join our cause in strengthening our community.
In 2019, the Y will make no small plans to address our
community’s most pressing needs through programs and services.
It is our commitment to help our community experience the
magic of believing in yourself and making anything happen.

Our Mission...
To serve the Cape Cod community by providing programs
rooted in our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and
responsibility to build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Connections to healthy role models. A safe nurturing environment. Activities that spur curiosity.
For many Barnstable County youth, especially those from lower-income families, the
opportunity gap for child care and quality youth programs can become difficult to overcome.
We believe all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve
under the guidance of adults who care about them and believe in their potential. We see every
interaction with young people as an opportunity for learning and development.
“Life is magical and blissful when we live to love the
beauty of life.”

2018 Together, we are making magic happen for youth
on Cape Cod.

“Being a Y Achiever means
I’m always striving to make
the community I came from
proud of my hard work. One
day I hope to give back as
much support as I’ve gained
from the people around me.”

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT MAGIC times more
likely to
escape poverty.
Youth are the backbone to our community. They change the future of society through their
wellbeing and courageous behavior. Youth empowerment is the means through which youth of
any community are assisted to succeed in life. Y Achievers plays a significant role in their goal
of life success. The Cape Cod Foundation is our Youth Development champion because of their
partnership and investment in the Y Achievers program. Because of this partnership, Y
Achievers expands beyond Barnstable to Dennis Yarmouth High School and more high schools
across the Cape in the years to come. 7
HEALTHY LIVING
We know that healthy lifestyles are achieved through nurturing spirit, mind and body. Well-being
and fitness at the Y goes beyond just working out. From seeking healthy lifestyles to struggling
with chronic illness, the Y provides people of all ages, physical needs, and abilities with
opportunities to engage in physical activity and wellness programs, regardless of their ability
to pay.
“The world is full of magical things patiently waiting for
our wits to grow sharper.”

2018 Together, we are delivering healthy living magic
through enriching meal programs.

“I love that my four children are
growing up at Y Camp and Early

variety of fruits and vegetables.
They no longer turn away from
these foods thanks to the YMCA
food program.” - Connor’s Mom

HEALTHY LIVING MAGIC
A healthy lifestyle is a way of living that lowers the risk of being seriously ill. Health is not just
about avoiding disease. Health is also about mental and social wellbeing. Blue Cross Blue Shield
partners in support of Camp Lyndon and YMCA anti-huger programs for children. Blue Cross
Blue Shield provided leadership level support of a new refrigerated food delivery van to deliver
nutritious meals and snacks to children in 22 Cape locations. When school meal programs close
for the summer, children still receive free meals at our summer camps and through 17 partner 9
locations across the Cape.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Over the years, we have evolved and grown. We serve all genders, children, and families from all
walks of life as they avoid destructive behaviors, explore their strengths, learn, grow, and thrive.
We are dedicated to our communities’ most critical needs because we know that when we work
as one, we move people and communities forward.
“You think that fairytales are not true, but life itself is
the most magical and mysterious fairytale.”
12
2018 Together, we make the magic of volunteerism
come to life through student internships.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY MAGIC
We believe, social responsibility is an opportunity that every individual and organization
has to give back and provide support to others. The Riverview School is a resounding
example of accomplishing both. We see and feel our partnership nearly every day. The
volunteer student internships are mutually beneficial to everyone involved and the greater
community. The real magic happens, when we see interns developing, as a whole person by
providing US with support.
