DEAR ATTENDEES:

We’re delighted you have joined us tonight at the Easton Country
Club to celebrate, “The Magic of Us.”
This night is dedicated to the “Magic” that happens when

committed staff, passionate
volunteers and generous donors
come together to support our
communities in ways our residents
need us most. Two volunteers who
personify this magic are tonight’s
honorees, Dr. David Mudd, and Mr.
Greg Wolfe. Join us in taking every
opportunity tonight to acknowledge
their tireless commitment to ensuring
maximal community impact through
Old Colony Y’s Easton branch.
This year, we are proud to share our successful implementation of
Y-Ability, an adaptive program to engage families with
non-typically developing children and young adults, many with
Autism, Asperger’s and Down syndrome. In addition, last year’s
pilot of Water Wise, a partnership between Old Colony YMCA
and the Easton Public Schools, to deliver a drowning prevention
program to elementary school children free of charge, has been
brought to scale. We expect to reach every second grader in the
district by June 2018! These programs are, of course, in addition
to our signature programs like LIVESTRONG® at the Y, Child Care,
our gymnastics program in Easton, and so much more.
We work each day to understand and adapt to the most pressing
needs of our Easton Community and we couldn’t do it without you!
Sit back, eat, drink and enjoy the company, the evening, and the
connection to our cause.
Sincerely,
Courtney Palm and Serah Selmon

1968 - 2018

Honoree Dr. David “Doc” Mudd

Dr. David “Doc” Mudd was first introduced to the
Huntington Avenue YMCA in Boston at the age of 6.
Since then he has been involved with various YMCAs
including the Brighton, MA YMCA . All 3 of his children
were involved in afterschool programs and learned to
swim at the YMCA. He began exercising at the Easton
YMCA after injuring his knee playing racquetball back in
2005. He become a regular at the Easton Y at his wife’s
urging, and now is a proud member of the “150” club,
swimming 3-4 times weekly as well as regularly
exercising on the elliptical, rowing machine, cycling,
and weights.
Doc Mudd joined the board of the Easton YMCA in 2008
and became chairman of the board in 2012. During his
tenure, the board has expanded, diversified, and
numerous important programs have been introduced
including the LIVESTRONG® program for cancer
survivors, Y-Ability program and the re-dedication of the Barrow Street gymnasium for a
dedicated gymnastics program.
Doc Mudd and his wife Caroline were both born at Grace New Haven Hospital and both went to
Concord-Carlisle High School but did not get to know each other until after college, when their
mothers arranged a first date for them! The date worked out well, and they have been very
happily married for 35 years. They have raised 3 wonderful children who all went through the
Easton Public School system. Their oldest son, Jeremy is graduating Brown Medical School and
heading to Columbia University for his residency next month. Daughter, Genevieve is an
occupational therapist working for BAMSI with children on the autism spectrum. Daughter,
Julia is a recent Tulane University graduate living in New Orleans and working in the
environmental science field.
Doc Mudd has been a practicing physician in the Brockton area for almost 30 years. He
received his medical degree from Tufts University in 1989 and completed his residency in
internal medicine at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston. For 15 years, he served on the
emergency department staff and eventually switched over to a full-time internal medicine
practice. During his career, he has been on the medical executive board and President of the
medical staff as well as a trustee of Good Samaritan hospital. Under Doc Mudd’s watch, a
state-of-the-art emergency department was built and dedicated at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Doc Mudd’s proudest achievements are his volunteer medical trips to Haiti, particular after
the earthquake of January 12th 2012. During that visit he worked 18-20 hour days treating
horribly injured victims of the earthquake at a level 1 trauma hospital in the Northern part of
Haiti. He is proud of the fact that out of
420 patients they cared for, they lost only
one patient. He received the Massachusetts
Medical Society Clinician of the Year award
due to his service.
Since becoming involved with the Old Colony
YMCA, Doc Mudd helped found the medical
advisory committee with SVP, Joyce Dwyer.
The medical advisory committee’s principal
focus is to expand YMCAs services into
community health arenas. In addition, the
committee is involved in different aspects
battling of the opioid crisis.
Doc Mudd is also involved with the
dynamic Easton Lions Club, and helps out
at the Natural Resource Trust in Easton.

Honoree Greg Wolfe

Greg Wolfe has been active in the Y since high school in the 1970’s in Newburgh, NY, to
playing basketball in the1980’s in Lowell MA, to enjoying the pool at the Easton Y with
his son Brendan, and wife, Barbara (Dolloff) in the 1990’s. Greg joined the board in 2007,
as Chair of Annual Fundraising, and co-chair of Board of Governors. He has unashamedly
resorted to beg, cajole, grovel, don costumes and shave his head to muster support for
Old Colony YMCA in Easton.

Greg has worked at Stonehill College since 1992 as Director of Purchasing and General
Services. He is proud of the joint community efforts between Stonehill College and the Y,
which include having their former president serve on the General Board of Directors for
Old Colony Y, having first year students go “into the streets” at many different Y
locations as part of their first year “educating the whole person” responsibilities.
Stonehill College students have received lifeguard certification from the Y, and Y trainers
have received certification working at Stonehill. Recently, when an unusually harsh winter
damaged the Sports Complex, the Y generously stepped up and offered their facilities to
Stonehill students. Stonehill has graciously hosted numerous Y events over the years. It is
a great partnership.

Greg has served as a coach for numerous youth organizations in the town, including Youth
Soccer League, Easton Youth Baseball League, and Easton Youth Basketball. Greg’s
favorite quote is “leading his teams to defeat with spontaneity, joy and fun, year after
year.” He also enjoys umpiring for baseball, cleaning up fields and in general impacting a
great number of youth in our area, as he says with pride “some of it even to their benefit!”

Greg has lived in the Brockton/Easton area since 1993, and is happily married to Barbara
Dolloff. Barbara’s children Alexi and Georgia participated in the Easton Y. Greg has twin
daughters Dora and Emma, who live and prosper in New York City, where they still root
for their New England sports teams. Greg and Barbara dearly miss their son Brendan, who
passed in 2010. Brendan participated in Old Colony Easton Y childcare, before and after
school programs, basketball program and often got in trouble with his dad for messing
around in the pool. Barb and Greg are proud grandparents of Liam, Winnie, Panther, Theo,
and look forward to two more granddaughters this summer.

Kind words from Greg Wolfe:
“The Y is my Giveback. My life has been full, and I have been given so many wonderful and
beautiful things: the gifts of loving family, music, my Unity Church, my faith,
wonderful workplaces, my health, and my wife. I have been given much. The Y is an
awesome part of my greater community. In addition to providing a platform of services to
support our families and children, the Old Colony Y has been on the front lines to support
diversity, troubled families, incarcerated youth, LGTBQ youth, those with cancer, weight
and addiction problems. They strengthen our school systems with childcare and aquatics
programs. The list of program and services coordinated by the Old Colony Y is
extraordinary. I have been privileged to work directly with David Mudd, my brother from
another mother, to directly support the efforts of our Easton Y Board, Director Serah
Selmon and her amazing and selfless staff. It’s been a privilege. I thank all of you for your
support and am truly humbled by this recognition. Thank you.
