WHAT IS MICRO OFFICE?
The Tiny House Movement originated in the United States in 2001. After the 2008-2012
Global Economic Crisis, it is used in many countries in Europe. Micro houses are economical,
environmentally friendly, a social movement that brings functional solutions in small
spaces. Micro houses, which are widely used in our country, appear as a healthy
accommodation and accommodation alternative for today's pandemic conditions. In the
design of the micro house, it is important that the user meets his own needs with a
minimum of fittings and furniture. Apart from the fact that micro houses can exist as a
dwelling on a land alone, it is also possible to create a collective housing by coming
together. When examined in this context, similar to micro-houses, the building type that
can be established in rural or urban areas with less material and has a working area (office)
is named as micro office in this project.
With the development of technology and the questioning of working areas and methods,
the use of micro offices that offer mobile and flexible use has come to the fore. Micro offices
selected as the subject of the project can be built in mobile spaces (caravan, truck, yacht,
boat, etc.) and in certain areas with materials that allow easy installation.
PLACE & CONTEXT
The feature that distinguishes architecture from other designs is that it exists and gains
meaning in a fixed physical environment. The defining element of architecture, the ground
of existence is 'place'. The relationship of the product with the place reveals new meanings.
This feature makes the repetition of the architectural product impossible. Context is the
relationship the architectural product establishes with its environment and is effective in
the production of design thinking. This is why the data of the environment where the
building is located is important. Topographical features, environmental data, climate,
orientation, material and sociocultural life can be among the context criteria.
Possible relationships with the context, specific to the micro office subject, can be
established as follows.
•Lands, private property garden, campsites, areas reserved in micro house communities
•Residual areas and roofs in metropolitan areas
•Urban gaps
•Urban interiors
• As part of rural life
The location of the project can be diversified, and the relationship established with the
place will be one of the focal points of the project.
