Smoke on the Mountain tells the story of a Saturday Night I Business Succession
Gospel Sing at a country church in North Carolina’s Smoky I Real Estate Law
Mountains in 1938. The show features two dozen rousing I Trust & Estate Adminstration
bluegrass songs played and sung by the Sanders Family, a traveling I Personal Estate Planning
group making its return to performing after a five-year hiatus.

Pastor Oglethorpe, the young and enthusiastic minister of Mount Waukesha, WI 53188
Pleasant Baptist Church, has enlisted the Sanders Family in his efforts
to bring his tiny congregation into “the modern world.” Between songs, 262-787-0600
each family member “witnesses” – telling a story about an important www.delforgebusinesslaw.com
event in their life.
Good Luck
Though they try to appear perfect in the eyes of a congregation who to the Cast and Crew
wants to be inspired by their songs, one thing after another goes awry
and they reveal their true – and hilariously imperfect – natures. Proud Supporter of CMH Drama
By the evening’s end, the members of the Sanders Family have en-
deared themselves to us by revealing their weaknesses and allowing
us to share in their triumphs.

Letter from the Director...
The cast and crew and their parents,
W hat a year it has been! Who would have thought
that we would be here in 2021?
When school began, the discussion was
whether we would have a musical this year at
all. Naturally, we wanted to do a show, but with COVID putting
so many other shows in the dark, would it really be possible?
With the stage limitations, the distancing, the cast size (normally
upwards of 60!), masks (not to mention everything else that goes
along with a pandemic), putting on a show seemed to be a bleak
possibility. All of this meant that if we wanted a show, we had
to do a show that was different. It meant that we had to think
outside our norm.
Along came “Smoke on the Mountain.” I sat with a script, read
the book, and listened to the songs. It was different. A small
Jacob Sudbrink cast. Very vocal heavy. Monologues rather than scenes with heavy
interaction. A live band. This show would be something new for the theatre… but after all, this year is the
year to try something new. After considering multiple show options and weighing them against our COVID
restrictions, “Smoke on the Mountain” was the right fit.
I believe this show came as a blessing. This was a challenge, and a different one at that. We all had our work
cut out for us. From the start, the students stepped up and took this challenge on. It has been an honor to
watch them grow in this show and come out of their shells. Thank you, all, for going on this journey with me
and keeping our program moving forward during a time of such uncertainty.
JJ – Thank You! I know this show is different than so many we’ve worked on together. 4 part harmonies
– and tough ones at that. The work you have done is amazing. Thank you for creating such an inspiring
experience for these kids.
Mark – Thank you for coming in again this year. It is always a pleasure to work with you. I value your
design and your creativity more than you know. Thank you for
creating the lighting which in turn paints the pictures for our show.
From moving lights around, to bringing in extras, wiring, fixing,
programming, running and removing cables, you’ve done it all.
Thank you.
Darcy – You have once again worked your magic. Creating three
different costume plots is no easy feat, yet you’ve done it with
grace. Your genius will always amaze me. I do not know how you
do it. You are a whirlwind of fabric, bobby pins, with an incredible
inventory - and in the end, what you produce will always astonish.
Mr. Ginn, Mr. Rolli, and all the other parents and family members
who built our set – There are no words to be said. Thank you just is
not enough. Having a group of parents who WANT to be here and
build something so special for these kids is heartwarming. Your
creativity and vision (big picture and details) are remarkable – you
see it all. Thank you for taking a simple description of a church and
making it into this beautiful place. Thank you for your time, your
dedication to this program, and your support. We would not be here
without you. And that stained glass window – WOW!
4 • CMH Presents Smoke on the Mountain
Mrs. Traci Huntemann-Piatt, thank you for again
volunteering to tackle the mountain of a task in
coordinating, organizing, printing and producing the
program. This program is an arduous and thankless
job, though essential to the success of the drama
program and musical here at CMH. I am so thankful
that you were willing to stay with us and provide your
experience once again this year.
Members of the FOA – thank you much for your
continued support through this year’s drama season.
Your support allows us to continue to provide amazing
shows here at CMH. Without you, we could not
do what we all love to do. You are so special to this
program, but more importantly, to all of us.
Finally, a huge thank you to all our other parents,
supporters, and volunteers. The HUNDREDS of hours
of volunteer work you all have provided behind the
scenes in construction, costuming, tickets, theatre
upgrades and so many other things are invaluable to
this production. We truly could not do this without
you. So much of these kids and their performance is
a direct reflection of the selfless acts you have shown
during this process.
Thank you for all being part of the larger picture
of this year’s musical production, “Smoke on the
Mountain.”
