Our School History

Catholic Memorial High School was founded by the determined parishioners of St.
Joseph Parish who in the early 1920’s began raising funds for a future high school.
Their goal of providing a high quality Catholic education for the area’s youth
remained strong and unwavering and their hope became a reality in 1949 when
CMH opened its doors. Today, Catholic Memorial stands as a living memorial
to the 23 young men of St. Joseph Parish who gave their lives for their country
in World War II. Later, the dedication of the school was extended to include all
graduates of Catholic Memorial who have died in service to their country.

Rising Through Faith

At Catholic Memorial High School, we inspire young people to learn and grow
in their faith. We believe that if you guide students with love, teach them how
to work for what they believe in, and coach them on how to live an ethical life,
they will have the strength and confidence to do what’s right. And what’s right for
them is often what’s right for the world.

Soar Above the Competition

Enroll in Advanced-Level Courses

Catholic Memorial is one of only four private schools in Wisconsin to offer
International Baccalaureate (IB) courses, and the only private school in Wisconsin
to offer both IB and Advanced Placement (AP) classes.

Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement (AP) is a program run by the College Board (the makers of the SAT) that allows
you to take courses in high school, which can earn you college credit and/or qualify you for more
advanced classes when you begin college. AP courses are designed to give you the experience of an
intro-level college class and also have the opportunity to earn college credit by passing the AP exam.

International Baccalaureate

International Baccalaureate (IB) is an internationally recognized program of study and is considered the most rigorous

curriculum offered at the high school level. The curriculum is typically taken during the junior and senior years and is based

on learning and assessment across a continuum of education during both years. In a rapidly changing world, IB students

understand their education in a global context. 100%

Concurrent Enrollment

CMH’s new partnership with Cardinal Stritch University offers a
concurrent enrollment opportunity while students attend CMH to earn
college credits and graduate from high school with a college transcript.

College-Level Writing and Communications Skills

In every English and writing course you take at Catholic Memorial you will be guided
to excel in your writing and verbal communication skills. You will develop critical skills
through college-level writing assignments, individual and group presentation projects
and a unique junior year extended essay experience guided by a faculty mentor, fully
preparing you with the vital skills necessary for the next step in your future.

Financial Pathways to CMH

We recognize families must balance the cost of education with other financial responsibilities and we are committed
to helping all families find a pathway to make a Catholic Memorial High School education possible.

Family Tuition Plan

CMH offers tuition discounts for families with more than one child attending CMH. There is no need to apply; the plan
is automatic and is available to all applicants from both supporting and non-supporting parishes. Please note that
students must be concurrently enrolled in order to receive the discount.

Tuition Assistance Program

CMH sponsors its own tuition assistance based on financial need. Applications will be available on the website and
in the Admissions Office beginning in early January. All previous applicants and all incoming freshmen will receive
their tuition assistance applications in the mail. Financial need is determined by information provided to an outside
evaluating agency. The agency provides Catholic Memorial with an unbiased, fact-based assessment of a family’s
financial condition. There is a minimal fee charged by the outside agency for this service.

Scholarship Opportunities

There are various scholarships available for families enrolling their students at CMH including: Catholic Memorial
Endowment Scholarships, Parish-Sponsored Scholarships, Business-Sponsored Scholarships, the Catholic Personnel
Grant and many more. Call the Admissions Office at (262) 542-7101 to identify the scholarship opportunities that apply
to your family.

Wisconsin Tax Credit

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue – Schedule PS (Private School) allows parents to deduct up to $10,000 per
student in grade 9-12 at a Catholic high school, regardless of income. Parents with students in grades K-8 at a Catholic
grade school may deduct up to $4,000. If your student moves from grade 8 to high school in the same tax year, you may
claim both tuition expenses up to $10,000.

Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP)

CMH participates in the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program. For students who apply to the WPCP to qualify they must
meet a residency requirement and a financial requirement. To meet the residential requirement, students must reside
outside of the Milwaukee Public School District and the Racine Unified School District. More information is available at:
www.dpi.wi.gov/sms/choice-programs.
