Natalie Coughlin
Natalie Coughlin was born August
23, 1982 in Vallejo, California. She
has won a total of 12 olympic
medals.
Ever since she was little she knew
swimming was something she enjoyed
but it was until she was a teenager
when she realized that going to the
Olympics was an attainable goal.
In highschool she became the first
swimmer to qualify for the
Summer National in all fourteen
events.
One of the obstacles she faced
was when she failed to qualify
for the 2016 Rio Olympic
Games.

Coughlin inspires others to follow
their dreams.
She gives out hope to other
swimmers every time she
represents the USA at the
Olympics.
Natalie Coughlin became the first
woman under 1:00 in the 100 back on
August 13, 2002 at the US Nationals
in Fort Lauderdale.
Natalie Coughlin never
formally retired, but she
hasn't competed since 2016
Olympic Trials.
