The History of the Beatles

The Beatles are a band from Liverpool, England.
They formed in 1957. The members are: Paul
Mccartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr and
George Harrison. These amazing musicians
made up the Beatles. Some would say one of
the greatest bands ever. Normally, John Lennon
played rhythm guitar and harmonica. Paul
McCartney played his bass.George Harrison
played lead on his guitar. Ringo Starr played on
his drums.

The main composers are John Lennon and
Paul McCartney which means that they
wrote most of the songs. The songs go
from serious to silly, like ‘we all live in a
yellow submarine, but people loved them
and would go crazy to listen and see the
Beatles. The Beatles where many things:
they were the most famous celebrities
during their time, the best songwriters of
their age, and some people believe the
best band of all time.

The Beatles were the most creative
band in pop and rock music. The
band impacted many young people,
they changed music. Did you know
that: The Beatles met when they
were in high school and played in a
small band the “Quarrymen”.

Sadly, the Beatles didn’t only have good
things happen to them. For example:
Ringo Starr has developed many illnesses
as a kid, like tuberculosis and apendicitis
where he had to stay quite some time in
the Hospital. Ringo Starr on top of that
was only cared by his mother as his father
left them at a very young age. John
Lennon also had some trouble because at
5 years old he had to choose between
living with his mother or father, which is a
very hard decision for a kid of that age.

Who did the Beatles listen to?

The Beatles were inspired by other musicians
from a very young age. They already knew how
to play their instrument in high school. A lot of
great musicians from that time influenced the
Beatles like Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Little
Richard, Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly, the Everly
Brothers, Fats Domino.

The Beatles had a difficult journey for success in
the U.S. Here is an anecdote (life experience) of
the Beatles that shows the difficulty: "We felt
very insecure," Ringo Starr told CBS, "because
the previous summer, George Harrison came to
America. We were on Vee-Jay and Swan
Records then, and we couldn't sell a record. He
was going in to record shops, and asking: 'Have
you got any Beatles records?' And they were
saying no. When he came back, he said: 'Oh,
it's going to be tough. They don't know us over
there.” In the beginning they had some problems
in the U.S but after they still got popular.

art-themed clothes. In the late 1960s, the
adoption of Nehru jackets and other
Indian-style clothing was highly influential
on Western fashion.

3. They also inspired musicians like: Billy
Joel, the Beach Boys and Nirvana.
