Teacher’s Day - 5 SEPTEMBER

In India, 5th September is celebrated as TEACHERS' DAY as a mark of tribute
to the contribution made by teachers to the society. 5th September is the birth
anniversary of a great teacher Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a staunch
believer of education and was a well-known diplomat, scholar, the President of
India and above all, a teacher.

World Ozone Day - 16 SEPTEMBER

WORLD OZONE DAY or International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone
Layer is observed on 16 September to spread awareness among people about
the depletion of the Ozone Layer and search possible solutions to preserve it.
On this day people from all over the world are expected to join the Montreal
protocol to join the talks and seminars.

Non-Violence Day-2 OCTOBER

The United Nations observes the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF NON-VIOLENCE
on 2nd October which is the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a leader of India's
freedom movement and a pioneer of the philosophy of Non-Violence. The objective
of the day is to spread awareness about the idea of non-violence through education.

United Nations Day - 24 OCTOBER

UNITED NATIONS DAY is an annual commemorative day, reflecting the official
creation of the United Nations on 24 October 1945.
United Nations Day is celebrated to commemorate the day that 51 countries came
together to promote peace throughout the world post World War II.

Children’s Day- 14 NOVEMBER

November 14 is the birth anniversary of independent India's first Prime Minister
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. ... However, after Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru's death in
1964, it was decided unanimously to commemorate his birth anniversary as
Children's Day in the country.
CHILDREN'S DAY is a commemorative date celebrated annually in honor of
children, whose date of observance varies by country.

Constitution Day of India - 26 NOVEMBER

CONSTITUTION DAY (or Samvidhan Divas), also known as National Law
Day, is celebrated in India on 26 November every year to commemorate the
adoption of the Constitution of India. The Government of India declared 26
November as Constitution Day on 19 November 2015 by a gazette notification.
The year of 2015 was the 125th birth anniversary of Ambedkar, who had chaired
the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly and played a pivotal role in
the drafting of the constitution.

NAVY DAY- 4 DECEMBER

NAVY DAY in India is celebrated on 4 December every year to celebrate the
achievements and role of the Naval Force to the country. The Indian Navy is the
Marine branch of the Indian Armed Forces and is lead by the President of India as
Commander-in-Chief. The Maratha Emperor, Chhatrapati Shivaji Bhonsle of the
17th century is considered as “Father of the Indian Navy”.
The Indian Navy plays an important role in securing the marine borders of the
country as well as enhancing the international relations of India through, seaport
visits, joint exercises, humanitarian calamity relief and so on.

Indian Armed Forces Flag Day - 7 DECEMBER

The ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY or the Flag Day of India is a day dedicated
to India towards collection of funds from people of India for the welfare of the
Indian Armed Forces personnel. It has been observed annually in India on
December 7 since 1949. Over the years, it has become a tradition to
commemorate this day as an honour to the soldiers, sailors and airmen of India.

Indian Army Dacy- 15 JANUARY

ARMY DAY is celebrated on January 15 every year in India as it is on this
historic day that General KM Cariappa became the first Indian to take charge of
the Indian Army in 1949. He took over from General Sir Francis Robert Roy
Bucher who was the last English commander of our nation's army.

National Martyr’s Day- 30 JANUARY

Every year on 30 January, India celebrates MARTYRS' DAY or Shaheed Diwas.
The day has been chosen to honour our brave martyrs who have laid down their

International Day Of Human Fraternity
- 4 FEBRUARY

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HUMAN FRATERNITY aims to underline the
importance of raising awareness about different cultures and religions, or beliefs,
and the promotion of tolerance. In December, the UN General Assembly adopted a

resolution to declare 4 February as International Day of Human Fraternity.

National Science Day -28 FEBRUARY

NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY is celebrated in India on 28 February each year
to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman on
28 February 1928. For his discovery, Sir C.V. Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize
in Physics in 1930.

National Vaccination Day-16 March

On 16 March every year, National Vaccination Day is observed in India which is also
known as National Immunisation Day (IMD). It was first observed on 16 March 1995
when the first dose of Oral Polio Vaccine was given. It is an attempt to increase
awareness for the eradication of polio from the planet earth.

World Water Day-22 March

On 22 March, World Water Day is observed annually to raise awareness about the
importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of
freshwater resources. It was recommended to celebrate in 1992 at the United
Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janerio.
And then, in 1993 the first World Water Day is celebrated.

DURING AN EARTHQUAKE

1. Keep calm and reassure others.
2. The safest place is open space away from buildings.
3. If you are indoors, take cover under a desk, table, bed, door frame, etc.
4. Stay away from glass doors, glass panes,
5. Walk out calmly
6. Take children, the aged and the sick out before leaving the building or
room.
7. If you are outside stay away from buildings and utility works.
8. Stay in the open till the vibrations stop
9. If you are in a moving vehicle, stop as quickly as possible and stay in
the vehicle.
10. Free all pets and domestic animals so that they can runoutside.
11. Extinguish all open flames like stoves, candles, lamps and matches.

IN CASE OF A FIRE

1. Do not panic.
2. Raise alarm/Inform the nearest teacher
3. Switch off fans, lights, air-conditioners and computers etc.
4. Open doors and windows
5. Do not run. Walk calmly down the stairs in a single file.
6. In case of heavy smoke, wet a towel or hanky using water from a water
bottle, Then cover your nose and mouth with a wet towel or handkerchief
and crawl out towards the nearest exit.
7. Assemble in an earmarked space at a safe distance and wait for
instructions.

Note: In case of emergency, follow the exit plan as provided in
each room and corridor

FLAG PLEDGE

I pledge allegiance to the National Flag and to the
Sovereign Democratic Republic for which it stands.

HONOURING OUR NATIONAL FLAG

The Flag Code of India deals with the correct display code, and guidelines
for storage and disposal of the flag in a civilian context

.
• The Indian National Flag should always occupy a position of honour and

should be distinctly placed in any setting.
• When flown over public buildings the National Flag should be flown from

sunrise to sunset.
• The flag should always be hoisted at a brisk pace and lowered slowly.
• The saffron band must always be displayed as the topmost band or the

right (of the flag) band (in case of vertical display). It is an offence to
display the flag in an inverted position (saffron side down).
• Display of a damaged or a dishevelled flag is also an offence. The National
Flag should not be dipped on any occasion.
• The National Flag of India should not be used as a festoon or a decoration,
or allowed to touch the ground. It is not to be used as an advertisement,
garment or wrap of any sort.
• It cannot be torn, damaged, burnt, or disrespected in any manner. The
disposal of a flag should be done as a whole, in private, preferably by
burning.
• It is also an offence to draw or deface the flag with any inscription or
graffiti.
